Steve with all due respect Iโm going to agree with @sillykitty . What you describe isnโt my experience. I was in ketosis (had access to massive energy stores for fuel) long before I began my 2 week liquid pre-op diet whose main purpose is to empty the liver of fat and sugar and get you into ketosis. Because i was MO, I had all the fat and endless energy to make up any lack of exogenous dietary fat. (Remember rabbit starvation is only a thing if you are super skinnyโit doesnโt apply to the obese population.) Due to ketosis, my insulin was low so I could access those energy stores any time! I had no need to add more fat to that which existed in my food choices (the fat in my meats, seafood, poultry, eggs, cheese, avocados, nuts/seeds. in fact, I challenge anyone to a menu dual! Thatโs how confident I am that Iโve been maxing the nutrition in my diet ! Wait for it... average cals for WEIGHTLOSS mode in the past 13 months have been 600-850 most of the time. I routinely eat about 30g total carbs, about 20 or less net carbs, 60-74g lean dense protein, and about 30-40g of fat per day. I do take my supps faithfully. I feel good. Iโm losing regularly. And satisfied. Iโm on my way to goal #3. my labs look good, my docs are very pleased, and my RD doesnโt want me to lose any more. since being online Iโve seen countless people knuckle down with super low cal, low carb and moderate fat (low fat by your standards, but it is still about 45-50% fat by cals consumed.). They make lower than goal extremely quickly. And none that I know are stuck with maintenance calories at the 600-800 range. I personally maintain at somewhere between850-1100 cals but my metabolism was already broken pre-surgery. I donโt know what maintenance will look like for me. But most long term vets I know (3-15 years) eat well beyond 850 cals per dayโmost of them are either full blown low carb or carb cycle, or are athletic beasts and are metabolically flexible now. No way can I lose at the needed rate during my honeymoon period at 800+ cals per day__low carb or otherwise. I just canโt. But I eat plenty and am satisfied. Just my 2 cents.

Can I just confess that I'm not trolling for funds, but in my tiny evil heart, I want to go start a go-fund-me page to buy this apparatus so that all will be well in my world and the entire world in general--or at least 'merica? Let's make America great again? Why don't we? -

All great ideas! Great choices. Look at you go! I also do well with unpeeled (has to be unpeeled) cucumbers dowsed in unfiltered ACV (drink the ACV after the cukes are gone)--also celery with the strings and radishes with a tiny bit of Kerrygold butter (think about 1/2tsp). Also, once you start roasting veggies at 450degrees with olive oil, pepper, kosher salt, and granulated garlic you never go back! 25 minutes, toss with spatula, cook another 10 minutes or longer if you like browner veg. So dang good. Green beans and brussels sprouts and cabbage planks/steaks are great like this as well. Super dry. Super filling stick to your ribs kind of food. -

It absolutely will. At first you will have mini hungry hungry heifer days and mini binges. No worries. Try to take the best next bite. Don't give into the full day even if you blow a meal or a snack. Try to eat as much dense lean protein with fat that you tolerate. And try for dense or raw veggies as a snack, or hard boiled eggs. Also as you get used to IF, you won't have nearly as many of those bingish days. Part is probably due to hormones and shark week too. You're doin' great! -
bahahahahahahaha! It's a secret. Only my freezer and I know for sure... oh, and the clock on the stove that looks at the freezer at 2am and keeps track of interlopers and raccoons...

Wow! Great list girl. I heartily concur! Yogurt by itself for me=total slider. I eat it and look around for more! But if I combine with cottage cheese, walnuts/almonds, blueberries, peanut butter powder (yes I know), and sometimes 6g Fiber One--but at least the stuff before this that's listed...it sticks with me. But I keep quantities to 1/2c of the dairy mix. Salads and veggies (raw and cooked, especially over cooked) = total sliders. Pasta, rice, beans, "complex carbs" = total sliders Crunchy crap: crackers, chips, tortillas, including protein chips = total sliders Candy: sugar free gummy bears and sugar free strawberry twizzlers = total sliders (please don't ask me how I know) Soups/stews/chilis = total sliders Anything (animal/vegetable/mineral) with gravy or butter = total sliders Smoothies/protein drinks that don't have lots of spinach, a few berries, and a crapton of psyllium husks = total sliders ***** So basically here's my recap. Everything goes through me like buttah except dense, very lean protein and separate al dente veggies. Some whole nuts have a "stop" to them. From satiety standpoints: as long as I keep carbs low, keep carbs per meal low, and sugar per meals 5g or less per meal, then I can control my hunger and control my portions (except on salads...I eat 2x as much salad as I do meat + veg). Adding IF also helps me limit my hunger. The more I IF, the less hunger I have.

Ok, before you go completely ferral, try mixing 2oz of Greek yogurt with 2oz of cottage cheese, matcha, and your toppings (including walnuts or almonds) to make it fit your macros. See if it makes it more filling. Cottage cheese totally fills me where yogurt slides. I'll be back in a bit to post my slider ultimates.

And they won't ever give you a straight answer, cuz there is no one size fits all for WLS diets, nor any diet. Clear as mud, right? The right plan and the "right" amount of carbs for YOUR body is the diet that you can stick to and embrace for the rest of your life. But what is that diet? You have to hack your own metabolism to see which will work for you in the long term. In the immediate/recovery/post surgery diet progression then purposely don't give you carb or calorie targets. Why? Cuz you are hopefully eating only minuscule quantities. So they ONLY want you to focus on protein. Protein. Protein. Protein! Then as @sillykitty said, leafy green veggies, then low carb veg, fruit, nutbutters/nuts/seeds, complex carbs. If you do that right and eat protein forward, then you eat very low carb as Steve said. As a female, most goals are 60-100g or protein. Mine was 60-80g/day or exactly 74g protein. Because I too am very carb sensitive and had a crapton of insulin in response to foods, I eat a very low carb healthy fat diet. It keeps me slowly losing and helps me maintain muscle. As @SteveT74 does, I shoot for my protein goal, then try to stop at 30g total carbs (mostly from veggies/nuts/seeds/dairy/a bit of berries), and the fat falls where it does until I hit my calorie goal for the day. Because I lose slowly and have lots of metabolic issues, I have to be between 650-800cals/day to lose. So it's not much fat right now... Most solid girl losers I know, have to keep their calories in that lose range of 650-900cals/day to lose well.

How Do You See Yourself in Your Dreams
FluffyChix replied to SteveT74's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow! First off, make sure you remember to give yourself credit for your incredible accomplishment! Dude, 75lbs in 3.5months is absolutely stellar work! Congrats!!! Second, I dream of myself at my secret fantasy "Barbie Dream Girl Weight" of 120lbs (my "due" weight or the ideal weight as computed by archaic insurance charts). It's so kewl. LOL. Then I wake up. At first it was a huge disappointment to be mo upon waking. And as I lost weight and was able (thru pics) to see my actual loss, the body dysmorphia started to come into more of a remission thing...it's still there, though. But so weird you should post, cuz in the past week, I've been gooder than good can be, and I'm waking with these nightmares that I'm mo again. I put my hand down almost while asleep and think I feel big mounds of squishy jiggly puff! ๐ฏ Then I wake and do my morning weigh-in routine and I'm either right where I was or down a little. I've no idea what we're trying to work through in our dreams, but I believe it does have to do with fear or control as @GreenTealael said. I think it's a phase and if we continue to walk our walks, these dreams will change and we will evolve! -
Yay!!! God is always good! So glad it wasn't a clot!

Congrats! Just work closely with your OB and your bariatric surgeon and RD and you will do beautifully and have a bouncing healthy baby too! And I too know many who got pg before the magic 1year mark and had healthy pregnancies and gorgeous babies. I also know normies who were mo and delivered healthy babies and lost weight through the pg. So cheers. Just don't lose focus, it's more important now that you stay sharp and follow your rules given to you by your team! -

Yep! It all started for me cuz I wanted appetite control, to bust a stall, play a new game I wasnโt bored with, and to feel the energy I have on fasting days. Then I fell down the autophagy/longevity rabbit hole! Now I want to live forever and hang out drinking matcha with @GreenTealael -
