Stomach hungry but brain is not?
FluffyChix replied to Brent701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. This can be part of the grieving process for many. That "full" feels different--flatter--satisfaction free or blunted. I chose to embrace it and be thrilled by it. Like "Buh Bye Felicia--you were never good to me anyway..." kinda thing. You know? But many are saddened and bummed by it. It's very normal. Your nerves were cut and parts rearranged. So your gut isn't really talking to your brain very well. Give it a few months. I swear you WILL feel a new sence of restriction or fullness. But for some of us, we have to kind play by the rules until that happens. And you're right, it is maddening. I was angry about that too and felt jipped! But I had to move past it emotionally. You will too. I still have a larger capacity btw. But I'm almost at goal #3 in a little over a year and I'm a slow loser! You will do great if you use this time to the max and look at "how little it takes" of the most boring foods. Rather than looking at missing things. -

Tolerating certain foods one day and then the next, NOPE
FluffyChix replied to Ellf's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm an outlier so I really didn't have that issue, but I do want to reassure you that it gets better. Hang in there!!! Go with the flow. Don't rush to advance your diet. Go slow. -
Issues hitting protein goal, six weeks out.
FluffyChix replied to Ellf's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I think this is pretty normal. My RD always told me I might want to have at leasts 1 protein shake per day (25-30g of protein) for the first year at least, to help me meet my goal and take the pressure off allowing me to have more veggies with my meal quantity size. I am an outlier so never had probs with meeting protein goals. But she said, that she has clients who still have 1 shake a day and they are multiple years out. Many do better with the shake mixed in coffee or tea (thinning it down and making it less sweet) and many aren't breakfast eaters. -
Yay!!!!! Don't eat until this weekend! ROFL!!! IF IF IF IF!!! 🍾🍾

Oh gosh! You look beautiful and what a gorgeous outfit! Yeah, a 12 was serious beeswax back then, prolly today's 6-8 in most brands for sure! Is Boo going with as your +1?

Hahaha! ^^ I keep stevia in my purse! I have the green and white bottle of stevita. Yeah, it's plastic and don't think it's organic but it travels well. Now I always am prepared for himself's coffee and my decaff iced tea!!! (You'll look like a doll in your dress! I have no doubts! But pics or it didn't happen!!! )

Want to gain some weight back
FluffyChix replied to John bee12's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Also, see if your doc can get you into a trainer/or PT who specializes in bariatrics and understands the metric of how to add muscle safely without using stacking enhancers etc. Cuz what you probably really want is not "weight"--you don't want fat. You want muscle. @BigViffer might also pop in and give you advice on how or where to go to increase muscle. Congrats on your weight loss btw!!! -
Two weeks out from surgery and struggling
FluffyChix replied to Duffman's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It's super important that you don't try to chase that full feeling you used to have. It won't come again like that. You will eventually feel restriction, but it might take 3-4 months. Same thing here. I do have a larger capacity pouch. So it is very important that I weigh and measure every meal and ONLY eat to the prescription for where I am in recovery. At your time, it was a 1/4cup limit. Volume is KING!! From now on. Volume is King! I am now at my stage at 1 cup limit for life. So I literally measure my meal in a measuring cup. I place it on the scale and I weigh 3 oz of protein into it and whatever is left over gets filled with al dente veggies and healthy fats. Eat slow. No water 15 minutes before and try for 1 hour after. And walk away. No seconds! No going back for at least 2 hours and later on, for 3 hours. Right now if you have a 1/4cup limit, you might be legit eating every 2 hours. But as you get more volume per meal and more protein in per meal, then you will be able to go 3-6 hours between meals. All you should be eating with a 1/4c volume limit at 6 weeks is solid proteins (or proteins at whatever level you're at). That's about 1-2oz of protein by weight and about 7-10g by protein content. -
Stomach hungry but brain is not?
FluffyChix replied to Brent701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
^^^This. Absolutely. But even more, try to embrace and encourage your ambivalence! By doing that, you can maximize this vacation from food!! At this point look at it as I need to eat "x" or "y" to meet my protein goals for the day. I need to drink "x" or "y" to get my liquids in. The End. Delay experimentation. Delay adding extras. Go for as long as you can on minimal. I swear the weight will just fly off you if you do!!! Cuz reality is, that all too soon, you will be fighting with your head hunger and body hunger. And all too soon you will be eating and eating larger and larger amounts. And your weight loss will dramatically slow, or stop completely, or become a gain. This is the magical time. Congrats!! -

how has surgery impacted your hunger?
FluffyChix replied to Zemi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It helped for a short while. But I still had a lot of head hunger. Now the hunger is back, and I'm just very relieved that during my honeymoon phase, I had the chance to learn to crave new healthy foods. It's not that I don't stray or have cravings for bad foods, but I'm very satisfied with eating healthy meals. I have a fairly large capacity, so I choose to fill my tool with lots of leafy greens, raw and al dente veggies, limited healthy fats, limited dairy, and great dense lean protein. -
Good luck you guys!! You got this! So excited for each of you!

You should totally try it with butternut squash! You can find them now, and half of the pumpkin puree out there is actually butternut squash. Dirty little food manufacturer secret. Maybe mix it with a sweet potato! YUM! -

Is this sold at the regular type grocery stores? Or was it a specialty store? I make my own and have for years. Here's the recipe: http://fluffychixcook.com/egg-fast-recipe-lo-lo-psylli-wraps-version-4-induction-grain-free-gluten-free/ -

Recipe please😊 No specific recipe. Here are the ingredients I used cuz they were in the fridge and were going bad: I dump the hardest things into a large dry skillet over high heat and cook until brown and al dente. They don't stick. So it's mushrooms, cauliflower first. Onion and red bell pepper go in after a couple minutes, then broccoli slaw, then power greens last. Then when it's all done the way I want, I spray with a little olive oil spray and add the ginger and garlic or garlic powder. Stir up. Then add the sauce and toss. Then eat. So good. I use Walden Farms Asian Vinaigrette or the WF Sesame Ginger Vinaigrette cuz it adds volume without calories or fat. I just throw the liquid ingredients into a bowl and stir. Reserve until everything is cooked. If I add shirataki rice I drain and rinse well and "dry fry" in a separate non stick skillet until very dry. Then turn off heat and season with spices. Then serve my meal and toss 1/3 of the package into it when I add the sauce. -
Constipation Question

LOL. Yep. But it sure beats the alternative they were shoving me into: Linzess. I'd rather take a bullet that take that drug that makes you hopelessly addicted to it. -
Constipation Question

Yeah. Here's my "miracle cure": 17g Miralax in morning coffee 2 colace (docusate sodium) 12g whole psyllium husk (Now! brand) in a glass of cinnamon apple spice Celestial Seasonings tea with liquid vanilla stevia 400 mg magnesium citrate pills lots of dark leafy greens, cruciferous veggies, sulforophane veg 1/2oz-1oz nuts (usually almonds or 1-2tbsp almond butter on GG Brancrisp cracker before bed) 100+ water (unsweetened) 6oz kefir plain fat free 2-4tbsp raw sauerkraut, kimchi, or lactofermented veggies 1/2c Grk yogurt plain fat free When I do this, I have big fluffy beautiful daily visits to the throne room. When I miss anything in this equation for more than a day or two, I develop issues that are Rosemary's Baby epic. -
Oh great thread! I'd forgotten about it! I just had matcha kefir. Oh yes she did! Unorthodox? Perhaps, but as delish as the matcha yogurt I'm now addicted to...ahem, yeah that's you little missy. You know who you are!

FluffyChix replied to Violet P's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
If you are in Houston I have a superb bariatric RD who is very reasonable and also takes Medicare. She’s in the Med Ctr. Also I’m with a university practice group. They excel at aftercare.
