Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability

Wow! This is a very brainiac YT from Dr. Michael Eades (Protein Power) discussing the effects of incretins on insulin secretion (fat storing hormone) and food quality/integrity. The take away from it is, if you want to have the lowest area under the curve (ie least amount of insulin secretion/fat storage) he says, "Don't eat. And if you do eat, don't eat carbs, but if you do eat carbs, eat the least process carbs, and eat them at the end of the meal. But it's best to eat meat, cuz it has the lowest incretin response. -

No. I am an RNYer. I did not have a sleeve first. Have only had 1 surgery. But I know my doc's post op plan for her RNYs and VSGs are very different. -

This makes 4 servings Golden Chocolate Chia Pudding (matcha is optional). Warm the cashew or almond milk up. Stir in cocoa, turmeric, and cinnamon until it dissolves. Simmer for about 5 minutes to cook the turmeric powder. Remove from heat and let it chill or come to room temp. Add other ingredients and stir every 5-10 minutes until chia seeds fully expand. Sweeten with preferred sweetener. I am using Monk Fruit liquid drops for this one. Divide into 4 containers. Chill well. Matcha Lemon Chia Pudding (Makes 3 servings) walnuts and blueberries are optional. -

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Yes, then absolutely. That's what many docs prescribe. My doc was 2-4protein shakes, water, clear broth and a sf jello per day for 2 weeks. But that's considered the "pre-op liquid diet". An EWF is literally: water, black coffee, unsweetened tea (green, black, white, or herbal, but no fruit teas) as long as they are unsweetened and black without creamer or milk. Good luck. You'll do great!!! Oh and break up with caffeine and carbs now. It will make life post surgery much easier. Also make sure you really work on staying hydrated post surgery. Make healing easier. -

Hi James and welcome! Congrats on your upcoming revision. I hope it goes smoothly and you are able to progress into your stages without complication!!! Woot! I think 2-3 months to start IF/EF is a bit ambitious. I'd target 6-9 months or until: 1. Your new tool stops working efficiently. Give it time to do its job. And really focus on maximizing YOUR part in its efficacy (ie making healthy choices, deeply nutritious and low calorie dense foods, exercise, follow your surgeon's plans, follow 30/30, take your vitamins, plan/weigh/measure/log every bite of food, weigh daily for accountability, no booze, etc). It's really important to make good choices, but to let your tool do the job its meant to do. Right? 2. You can easily get all your water in (around 100+oz day). 3. You can easily get all your protein needs met with real whole dense proteins. That's usually a 6-9month progression or longer. ****** But, you surely can do TRE (time restricted eating) to consume your foods in a 16:8 window. At first, even that will be a challenge for you. You do not want to over-consume your capacity at any time or in any stage. And if you are compressing your eating window, that risk of consuming larger meals to compensate exists. So a 16:8 might take you 3-4 months post surgery to be ready to do that--maybe even longer depending on your rate of healing and size of restriction. But even setting a 13- or 14hour fasting schedule would benefit you per Dr. Longo. And that's basically an overnight fast. ****** I don't know about doing a WF for pre-surgery. They usually want your liver emptied, but your protein levels high so you will be at an ideal healthy level for surgery. Pray about that and ask your RD. If I had it to do over again, I would definitely do a bowel prep and make sure I was 100% cleaned out. Gosh mine post surgery was ridiculously terrible. One of the only complications I experienced at 3 weeks. Rosemary's Baby bad. So I'd bowel prep about 3 days before surgery, then do clear liquids for the last 2 days presurgery, making sure you are getting all your electrolytes. ****** Here's Dr. Mindy Pelz's Resetter's Tribe on FB. https://www.facebook.com/groups/resetters/ -

Yes, I have for the most part, waited until I'm close to Goal #3. I still won't do this very often. Even though mine are very LC. Here are the instructions from my old blog--this bariatric recipe is modified a little bit. http://fluffychixcook.com/mile-high-keto-biscuits-owl-low-carb-gluten-free/ -
Having Such a Hard Time "Treating" Myself
FluffyChix replied to KT1981's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Actually, I think you KNOW the answer to this. Why? Cuz this behavior is sending alarm signals to your rational mind. And you have begun changing your standards. This behavior is aberrant to your new core values. So it is setting up a contradiction. And that always brings stress. I do not think any of us are 100% perfect. Nor do I think any of us can expect to look at food "as only fuel"--ever! LOL. Cuz it is so much more. Our gut which manufactures 90% of the seratonin in our body makes sure of that. Food is fuel, fun, pleasure, reward, punishment, security, celebration, drug. So. Much. Stuff. I also think that morale seldom improves with beatings. You just have to accept a choice, catalog it, determine whether it helped or harmed, then decide what you want to do with the next best choice. Then you shrug and move on. But you don't in my honest opinion, tell yourself that your aberrant behavior is ok. It just "is". Right? No judgement attached. And it certainly isn't a treat. Is it a treat to harm your body with a big wad of insulin? Is it a treat to alarm your pancreas by suddenly loading it with highly available sugar influx that has to be neutralized quickly? Is it a treat to alarm your brain into a binge response? I don't think so. It sounds like you don't either. But it still happens to all of us. It's human. What I do think we have to do is reframe behaviors with food. I don't know about you, but I ENJOY healthy deeply nutritious foods. It tastes great. I don't feel deprivation. So food is fuel but brings me great satisfaction now. And when I'm faced with the tortilla chips I will make lateral changes after making plans to incorporate the tortilla chips in my daily menu. I'll bring pork rinds in my purse and have 3-4 real tortilla chips, then 3-4 pork rinds with salsa, guac, or queso. No big huge cheat. Instead of a cookie, I might have a couple of squares of a Quest protein bar candy bar that I cut into 8 pieces and freeze for emergencies...or a 1/2c of Enlighten or Halo Top Ice Cream. And I don't feel guilty or tempted to carry on with the highly caloric foods. Here's a good thread you might want to check out. -

Breakfast this morning. My "Miracle Biscuit" (yes, it's a low carb analogue...I'm drivin' the bus to hell) with an egg white turkey sausage, spinach mushroom, sriracha and cheese filling. I ate the whole thing of course. And here's how it turned out in MFP. 166 cals; 18g protein; 5g fat; 10g carbs; 4g fiber; 6g net carbs. MMMMmmmmMMMMMmmmm! (That all fit in a 1cup volume.) There were no survivors... -
