Yum!!! -
I'm just gonna say you are in a scary time for us. It's hard learning maintenance behaviors and getting out of the weight loss mode. ((hugs)) You are doing very well in analytically approaching this and taking a data driven approach to it! You'll find your norm. I know you will! And while it is quite possible that you are indeed too thin, remember family and friends (and even ourselves) view our selves through a former MO filter. So their "too skinny" might be in reference to your formerly MO body. Right? Cuz seriously just looking at the chart (which isn't perfect, unless you're typically average like me), at 5'2" you have a ways of wiggle room before you're even at the low end of your normal weight range. Right? Cuz you are 5'2" and 119lbs. which is right smack in the middle of normal and smokin' hot bod.

What Food Is Your Kryptonite?
FluffyChix replied to MrsGamgee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Can't do fried okra anymore (before or after), but still love my okra and tomatoes. I have to draw the line somewhere though and boiled okra seems to be "it" lol just cuz I detest it sooo... -
I had decaff the first day of surgery. But the docs are all so different. What does your doc/program allow?

What Food Is Your Kryptonite?
FluffyChix replied to MrsGamgee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Anything too fatty or rich and cheese in more than a tiny bit. And I haven't tried it, but I'm sure boiled okra would also fall on that list. It's got to... haha -
They taste like white fleshed mild fish. Not as rubbery like a catfish. More like tilapia texture but not as fishy (IMHO). I love them. They are also cheap and I still have to do cheap.

Ohhh! Love all of those!! I also love Pangasius!

I'm sorry you are struggling. It sounds like you are pretty in touch with where everything is coming from...so I only want to address this: There are GREAT benefits to losing weight beyond the number on the scale. It WILL help physically (if not now, then definitely in the future--cuz realistically MO people do not die "perfectly healthy but MO". They die cuz of complications from MO in most cases) and it DOES help emotionally as well as spiritually. But the part I will address cuz I experienced it is the reduction (dramatic) in pain level from my weight of 287 and 325lbs compared to my pain level at 137lbs, right this minute. At 287 and 325lbs I was basically bed ridden. I had so much pain I could not stand for 10 minutes, could not walk for 5 minutes, had to change positions every 30 minutes to an hour. Couldn't sleep longer than an hour or two cuz of waking from pain. Couldn't clean myself (poopin) or shower without sitting down on a shower chair. I couldn't exercise or travel. I was a mass of degenerative disc and joint disease and so much more I won't bore you with. I got cortisone injections into my back and hips every 6-9 months and lived on daily pain meds (opiods) and drank to control the extra pain. I was a terrible hot mess. Every morning I woke in a 5-7 pain level and by evening every day I was at minimum an 8 1/2-10. I cried from the pain most days. Today at 137lbs I ran this morning for 35minutes strait without stopping at 3.5mph pace (slow but moving). It's a personal best. I wake in a 2-4 pain level and it stays pretty consistent. Some days it goes up to a 5, but that isn't every day. I sleep 3-6 hours at a stretch. I exercise every day (either walking, jogging, or core strengthening exercises). I am active, care for myself, the house, cook, and sleep. I don't sit down to shower. My balance is improving...I feel like I'm getting my life back. I don't drink for pain (and rarely drink now). I don't take any pain meds at all. Oh and I no longer cry daily from pain. I have such a great RD. She is part of my care team. I also have several psychs who are helping me. I just wish anyone who needed help could get the kind of help I've had cuz it's been phenomenal and a blessing.

For those eating under 1000 calories
FluffyChix replied to stilljustafatguy's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
It's just MFP (My Fitness Pal) hon. I love it cuz you can save meals, enter your own foods, enter recipes...so populating your meals becomes super quick cuz it keeps track of your recents and "frequents". I just use the free version. And you can put your own meals in and the macros you want to track! It also tracks other stuff like exercise (not good at remembering to go in and log it down), weight (do it daily), measurements (do it monthly). That kind of stuff! This is just a clippit of the day cuz it was too long to post as one pic. Cuz of my powerslaw that I made and still have 3 servings to eat before it goes bad. LOL. Delish...but a kitchen sink type of recipe. -
Absolutely NO verbal bashing. Just someone who has been where you are. You are. Three. Weeks. Out. Follow your doc's plan for you. I'm sorry you've had such a tough go. I am. But we ALL have had a tough go. We all live life. Life is f**king hard.

5 years ago today...first day of a new life
FluffyChix replied to mi75's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats! Thanks for sharing!! You should stick around and post!! Congrats on your successes and so sorry for the loss of your parent. -
You are 3 weeks. Probably on puree? What is on your plan from your doctor? Follow it. Don't skip ahead. This is the time you should be killing your cravings. Max your honeymoon period. Don't look for substitutes for crap foods. Don't prolong that taste craving! Let me repeat. You are 3 weeks. Maybe the better question for yourself is a reminder question: "Why did I have surgery"? The end.

Bariatric Surgeon vs General Surgeon
FluffyChix replied to MrMagic's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
In addition to a bariatric surgeon, I would want to be with one who is noted as a Center of Excellence surgeon. That means they do a specific minimum of bariatric surgeries per year with a very low rate of problems and they do it at a hospital recognized as a COE hospital. The rate of risk is much lower for you and they know what they are doing. They also end up tracking you for 5 years beyond surgery with follow up care of varying intensity. -
Fantastic!!!!

Possible pregnancy and only(almost)three months out
FluffyChix replied to PudgeBeGone's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You're gonna be fine. Continue eating on plan. Don't stray. You could potentially keep losing during PG or you might only gain a few pounds if you're very careful and the payout will be that both you AND baby will be healthier for it! Keep the crap out of your diet and do NOT eat emotionally. ((hugs)) This is gonna be ok! It looks positive to me. But as @CurvyMom advised, retest Monday morning then get in to see your surgeon, nutritionist, AND get your OB/GYN on board immediately. You are probably already a high risk pregnancy, but if not, you will be because of the surgery. Don't freak or stress. This is a blessing. -
We're all so different!! Love this!!! I have bigger issues when I feed that craving. Cuz I feel like it intensifies. So for that reason, If I'm craving sweets at night, I try not to feed it sweet stuff (fake or not). Sometimes I win. Sometimes the craving wins. LOL. I think I would schedule a bedtime mini meal and have it pre-portioned and pre-made and waiting for me. And it would include a mandatory cup of hot tea (unsweetened) or hot decaff (black unsweetened) first. Or even a cup of Herb Ox Bouillon. It would also include serious reflection and CBT work before caving to it and eating. I am thinking you are maybe legit hungry too. So do a snack of veggies with protein. Something very savory, low cal, dense nutrition, that will take a long time to eat. Fill your tum up. Then go to bed and try to meditate. I know you aren't supposed to eat right before bed, but for a short time, to break the habit I think it's the lesser of the evils. I'd limit the snack to 100cals or less and less than <5g carbs. High protein, maybe a tiny bit higher fat...

Lifestyle changing new food discoveries
FluffyChix replied to Sheribear68's topic in Food and Nutrition
I just rinse them for about 30 seconds to a minute. Doing it longer isn't gonna get rid of the smell inside them. I kinda stir them with my hand and move them around in the strainer? Then shake them and put in the frying pan with the vent on. haha. Adding the spices and sauce after dry frying takes care of any residual odor. You know?
