Had Emergency Surgery Just Now
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Wow! I did not know that Mormons (SERIOUS LOL at autocorrect! I typed “normies” *snort*) could get twisted guts!!! It honestly is the most pain I ever remembered!! i was fortunate to get to my bariatric surgeon who knew what it was immediately and took action-saving my bowels and blood supply!! She put in 5 or 6 ports and did it laparoscopically lucky for me. The doc at the other hospital wanted to do it open! 😳🤪😥😲🥴 -
Congrats to you and your focused and determined approach to learning how to maximize your honeymoon period!!!

Had Emergency Surgery Just Now
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
No other way to do it! My team made this nbd—done in 45 mins. Doc said that I came in at the perfect time. My small intestine had slipped through the hernia and congregated up on my spleen and twisted, but because I acted so swiftly there was no bowel death or infection and that both blood supplies were still operating free and clear! Moral of the story is should you feel sudden intense pain with or without, don’t d**k around. Call your surgeon or leave message for him and go to the er where he practices! I couldn’t make the hour drive cuz of pain so they had to transfer by ambulance and that was a huge waiting game and pia!!! ((Hugs)) -

Ha! It’s like karma is tellin me how much a 56 yr young woman with wrinkly skin has no beeswax wearin a bikini top! *snort* We r gonna slay this summer girl and I can’t wait until you wake up from surgery without GERD! That stuff is miserable and you’ve been handling it like a rockstar and with absence of whining! 🥳 (pssst that should totally be a title of a John Grisham novel!!!) 🎉🎉 Saying prayers for you my friend!!! And FYI I’m firmly on the Solidarity Train with you and your preop liquid diet. Think I have a few days of clears then move to full liquids for a week or two. Dunno the post progression plan yet. Will get that info today. ((Hugs)) -

What Food Is Your Kryptonite?
FluffyChix replied to MrsGamgee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Haha! Be careful, “All magic comes with a price, dearly!” Bahaha! Be “poo proactive!” Become a poo hunter. Part of a by-product of this surgery is that it can be a struggle for many of us to figure out our poo-hack so we have lovely and regular bms. Cheese is part of a group I love/hate that I call the “anti-bms.” Hehe -
I have to say most cases of bikinis and balls don’t end well...IMHO 😏☺️

Congrats!! Great post! And to quote @GreenTealael “Pics or it didn’t happen! Bahaha!

Welcome Back awesome decision!! -
Haha! I vote to “grandmother” you in! 😝😝😝😝

Agreed. I don’t feel resentful of my real food simple choices!! It’s yummy! And I aim for100%compliance. But even planning for perfection the reality is I only manage to make great choices about 80 to 90% of the time! So imagine how much less the healthy choices would be if I spent a majority of my time planning comfort food meals that are extra tasty! Lol I already know I can eat twice as much quantity of cheesy ooey gooey casserole dishes or saucy dishes as I can lean dense protein and veg! 😜🤪😘

Poop. Poop. Poop. More poop. Water. Be still and know it will happen!

Wow! That's awesome! I figure your lack of hunger is that you are in pretty deep ketosis (fat burning) state. Causes a huge decrease in hunger! And I also figure no satiety from the shakes. But do you feel a sense of "heaviness" that is new when you eat the hard boiled eggs or cottage cheese? It's interesting, you know, my pouch has always felt like I had a larger capacity. But the 2 things guaranteed to make me feel like I have a "normal pouch" are hard boiled eggs (no seasoning--especially salt which blunts satiety and increases the pleasure hormones) and cottage cheese! How much volume of cottage cheese are you eating per serving just out of curiousity? Do you feel fuller with it than before? I'm on day 2 1/2 of clear liquids. I'll add in clear protein drinks tomorrow. On Sunday I was 138.8lbs and today I'm at 135.4lbs. I'm excited to only be 2lbs up from my posted lowest weight and feel like I'm finally on track to hit 130 and Goal #3. Hunger is manageable. Yesterday had a cup of HerbOx and a cup of bone broth with a tiny bit of butter and 2 sugar free popsicles. Add to this my gut really needed to heal, since I think I got food poisoning from a bad grilled chicken salad or bad cucumber on Sunday and I've felt really miserable for the last 2 1/2days. Only walking here... Cudos to you and thanks for tracking all this! I have a theory that although a reset may not actually affect the physical size of the stomach, I think it may provide a hormonal switch/reset on your gut-brain axis and affect our perception of satiety.

^^^^This. Great advice. Well done on the walking!

Been thinking about you! Sending huge hugs and thoughts of healing and peace for you. What you're feeling is lovely and maternal and so expected. You're gonna be a rockstar. You're such a vet on this whole thing and your doctor's hands will be blessed!

Dr. Brian, with all due respect, as a food addict I fully understand the need to have "palatable options" for eating. But let's examine the psychology of your question. OK? You are looking for a "tasty" food fix. But that's the exact thing you want to try to find a way to overcome. It takes a mental re-framing. Instead of looking for rewarding food experiences, look for foods you tolerate, that offer deep nutrition or the biggest bang for your nutrition buck, and that stay down well and help heal your body. Embrace BORING. Embrace low reward. Embrace KISS. Embrace interacting with your food as little as possible for as short a time-span as possible. Why? Cuz it's in the honeymoon phase that you have the ultimate opportunity to RESHAPE and reframe your relationship with food. Believe me, once your gut microbiome gets on board with your plan, you start to crave "boring" clean foods over the craptastic high-reward foods that got us our lifetime invitation to the Obesity Ball. Embrace: protein drinks (for now) yogurt low fat cottage cheese soft scrambled eggs tuna salad made with cottage cheese and mashed hb egg soft boiled eggs chicken salad made like the tuna salad sf jello sf popsicles And be done with it. Make it no-brainer repetition. Because all too soon, your struggle will get worse and then you will be asking for advice on how NOT to eat the slice of pizza or 3... I come to you not judgementally, but as someone who has walked in that trench and has discovered new ways of thinking.

You look fabulous!!! Congrats!!!!
