❤My Revision Story❤
FluffyChix replied to GreenTealael's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hahaha and there it is!!! Our little GT's morphine smile! Congrats on a successful surgery and such a sweet smile of victory!!! LOL, on another note, I just found this thread (again). LOL. I say again, cuz I vaguely remember reading it the first time in my own morphine haze thinking first: Happy Birthday to our sweet and hilarious GT, then second thinking that perhaps you might be dead, curled in a fetal position dumping in the back of the bus to hell. ROFLMAO! This morning I find this thread and realize I hadn't dreamed it!!! So glad surgery went well (from the photo) now we just need lots more piccies and a blow by blow!!! Are you up and walking already???!!! I thought of you this morning as I did my walk, walk!!!! -
I had my Gastric Bypass reversed 😞
FluffyChix replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@Alex Brecher I'm so so sorry that you are dealing with this horror!!! ((hugs)) You are handling everything so well! Please feel free to rant, whine, moan, talk...whatever you need--we're here to listen and help however we can! I am saying deep prayers for you and family!!! God's peace my friend. -
I thought this was pretty interesting. I found my experience to be the same not only this most recent surgery, but for the past 8+ years, my hospital offers an a la carte menu and allows the patient to pick or choose their own meal selections--even if you are on restricted diets aka diabetic or cardiac diet/low sodium, etc. I wanted to share my menu and thought it was very user friendly. It showed the total carbs for each selection and defined the caloric parameters of "mindful selections" which made it super easy to make healthy choices! (Even when I was on clear liquids!!) So maybe they ARE "getting it"? When I wasn't NPO (nothing by mouth) or on clear liquids with broth (delicious) + SF jello + iced tea + decaff black coffee, I chose the baked white fish (zero carbs without the breading) + green beans + fresh fruit cup and light yogurt for my challenge meals. I only ate about 1/8cup total volume of solids, so didn't worry about how many carbs/sugars in the Yoplait Lite Yogurt...meh. Some areas could use improvement...lol, but hey, it's a start!

Can't keep up with small frequent meals
FluffyChix replied to milena2306's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was instructed to thin it down to pourable state for it to qualify as liquid. So I used my protein drink to thin it out. -
Had Emergency Surgery Just Now
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
At the time, I seriously thought I was dying. And I played the drama card big time! Cuz you know, what's a death scene without drama and a seriously curious audience of strangers. Right? But in the end, once big time Billy Badass morphine was on board and I was no longer writhing or sweating, things felt much less cray. And I was one of the lucky ones. Sadly @Alex Brecher got the short draw on his. That's who I'm saddest for! Mine ended up being NBD and 45 minutes later I'm out and discussing the great trip I'd been on with fentanyl and my cute anesthesiologist. And yes, I will stop at NO lengths to reach Goal #3. LOL. Take no prisoners. Tawanda!!! -
Oh you know, you can't say, "Hemi," around me without me going "there"! Have a blast!!!!!

Can't keep up with small frequent meals
FluffyChix replied to milena2306's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yogurt is considered a full liquid. So no need to separate it from liquid. I actually thinned mine down to a yogurt soup using protein drink. As @Orchids&Dragons said, you can count liquid protein as part of your fluid intake and don't have to wait. (psst I think 9 meals is ridiculous. LOL. I ate every couple of hours in the early days where I was consuming 1oz-1 1/2oz per meal.) Fluid is KING!!! -
Is this too much??
FluffyChix replied to nouranaly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No. Because you are heavier going into surgery, it's perfectly normal to expect to lose larger sums right up front. It will level out. Just make sure to stay hydrated girl and follow your docs plan of care! Get that protein in and congrats on your losses to date!!! Two-derville here you come! -

OMG!!!! I completely lost track of time!! TY for letting us know! Doubling down on prayers! Hopefully she is in recovery now and cracking jokes!!! -
Some people can tolerate whey protein isolate because it does not contain lactose? Dunno. If that's the case, you can get each of these flavors in powdered Isopure Whey Protein Isolate (from Bariatric Pal or GNC). You might try a sample and see how you tolerate it? Avoid adding fruits or sugars of any kind! Good luck!

130lbs and feeling wonderful... Pics

🍾 Wow!!! Great job girl!!!!! Congrats!!!! -
Honestly? Treat this as a "continued liquid stage." That means you don't have to separate your drinking from protein consumption. Ditch any carbs like Cream of Wheat, grits, etc. Go with protein shakes. Focus on getting down a minimum goal of 60g per day. At first, you might end up only being able to get about 48g of protein. Liquid protein counts toward your fluid goals each day. Do that for however long you are supposed to be on full liquids. Anything else is just making it harder on yourself and counter productive to THE most important thing and that is staying WELL hydrated. Get those fluids in. Meet or exceed your fluid goals. It ensures that life will go easier on you as you advance through the stages. Here are the ways I got my protein in that I loved the most: Premier Protein in my hot decaff coffee and hot decaff tea. Best ones: Cocomo Joe (Bananas and Cream + Decaff Coffee)--hot or cold over ice, takes away some of the intense sweetness Bananas and Monkeys (Bananas and Cream + Decaff Coffee + 12g of powdered peanut butter low fat)--hot or cold over ice, takes away some of the intense sweetness, great made into a frappacino MochoLoco (Chocolate + Decaff Coffee + 1 Tbsp Dark Cocoa Powder + Cinnamon)--hot to dissolve the cocoa powder or omit cocoa powder and have it as a frappacino or iced coffee, again, makes it less sweet CaramelAmmacheoto (Caramel + Decaff Coffee + Cinnamon)hot or cold over ice, takes away some of the intense sweetness or make into a frappacino and add some canned low fat whipped topping Vanilla Late (Vanilla + Decaff +/- Cinnamon)hot or cold over ice, takes away some of the intense sweetness, great blended with a spray of Reese's Whipping Cream (also great with chocolate flavored PP) Peaches and Cream Tea (Peaches and Cream + Decaff Tea or Decaff Peach Tea even better or Decaff English Breakfast Tea so good!)--drink it hot or cold over ice or as a frappacino! Unflavored Protein (Add it to all soups anywhere!) Cream of Chicken Soup or broths mixed with Isopure Unsweetened Protein Powder and seasoned up like either Mexican Tortilla Soup minus the tortillas, or Asian Soup, or Italian flavored, or Tomato Basil flavored. And that's what I did until I was out of Stage II and could move on to Mushies (Stage III) for me. I didn't have to do purees. Good luck, hope this helps!

I've asked this before, but...
FluffyChix replied to gabybab's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How intense is it? Is it sudden onset or always there? Either way, it's worth a note to your PA to ask the question and describe the symptom. Sorry for your struggle! -
Yeah baby!!! See? This is when it starts to feel Forkinfantastic!!! The pain of the early learning curve is hopefully mostly non-existent and the elation of seeing the rapid body changes (weight, shape, tone, energy, health improvements) just takes hold and gains momentum like a runaway train! Work it girl! Good luck tomorrow. You'll rock!

154 lbs from my recent highest weight (about 2+ years give or take) 89lbs from surgery day (222lbs) down to pre-surgery weight this week was 133lbs. I'm 17 months out and working on goal #3 of 130lbs.

Very impressive less than a week after emergency surgery! I’d use every excuse to live in leggings & sundresses 😂 IKR?! I still fit my booty and legs into the "stretchy" skinny pants. And they are low cut so missed the majority of the swelling. But I have to say my tummy isn't that distended anymore. I've walked like a beast since Friday early morning. psst. I won't post these publicly, but check you pm box.

How I felt yesterday in my, channeling-audrey-hepburn-outfit. (black skinny side zipper ankle pants, black and white striped tshirt, belt, and black patent loafers.

Had Emergency Surgery Just Now
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Update. Things are going great. Back to walking 60+ minutes a day and back on my forever diet of success. I do have pain, but it's easily handled with tylenol at night. Some gas pain in shoulders, but minimal. I'm back at work today and business as usual. Yay team. Thank you everyone for the prayers, concern and well-wishes!! Remember to listen to your gut! If you "feel" a sudden INTENSE onset of symptoms--don't ignore them! Contact your surgeon PDQ and all should be well!!! -
Had Emergency Surgery Just Now
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey great to see you!! Yes it happens frequently to RNY people. There is a point between 2 major blood supplies where they access the stomach. It’s on our left by the spleen adjacent to the stomach and being MO this area is ripe with fat. Sometimes the doc uses a stitch in there to close it and other times they leave it open. She left mine open and because I lost so much and lost the deep internal fat, that hole became bigger cuz it wasn’t filled with fat anymore. So it was big enough for the small intestine to slip through and tangle with the omentum (a blood rich net of fat that wraps over the peritenium and protects the organs within). So they had to work out and untangle the si and put I back in the sack and close the hole up. 😳 -
Oh mah gosh!!! Look at you little lady! You look fabotastic!!! Congrats to you. TY for sharing!!! We 💖 piccies!!! 🍾🥳🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Well done!!
