    Soups, help please!

People rave about the protein soups available here in the Bariatric Pal store! You should check them out. They have quite a variety! I personally didn't get jazzy with soups on the pre-op phase cuz I was supposed to only have broth. So I got bone broth and Central Market HEB low sodium organic chicken and beef broth. I also love the HerbOx Chicken or Beef Bouillon packets that come in a box. They are no sodium but aren't boring and I think are only 10cals. For post op, I would add unflavored protein powder to any broth or cream soup while it was room temp. The protein powder mixes better and without clumps that way. Then I would thin it down with more broth or with Fairlife Milk fat free. And slowly slowly slowly warm in the microwave. If you exceed 140 degrees F, then the protein will coagulate. It's still edible, but you would need to throw it through your Ninja or blender to get rid of the clumps. Good luck and congrats on your coming surgery!
  2. You do not know me at all. I do not make fun of anyone's journey. And although I do not judge, I'm not an enabler soft love girl either. This (WLS) is a truly DEADLY serious endeavor. And it's freakin' hard without us making it even more potentially deadly through our bad choices. And what you think is me making fun, is actually me illustrating THROUGH LINKS not screen shots (that's just how BP handles links to posts) the reality that there are people so mired in cognitive dissonance and in disease that they would risk their life for a food-fix. This is no joking matter. It's desperately sad and very serious. I'm thinking I somehow pee in your wheaties and you appear dedicated to schooling me and setting me down a notch or twelve. I'm sorry my style doesn't fit your expectations. I would highly encourage you to block me, so I don't inadvertently introduce added stress into your journey--cuz I plan on stickin' around for quite a while unless @Alex Brecher feels I'm not an asset to his site.

  6. Heya @GreenTealael, been thinking about you hon. How's the pre-op liquid phase going? You've been very very quiet!!! When is surgery day again? ((hugs)) And prayers for a speedy and boring recovery!
  7. Trust your surgeon. Don't test the theory. Follow his/her rules to the letter and be compliant!!!! In ALL areas. Mostly. Do the headwork. Anyone at anytime, can freely choose to eat around their surgery and regain the weight--regardless of surgery type.
  8. Good lord! For those of you who had it rough ((hugs)). That bites!!! Seriously. That wasn't my experience at all. I had very little issue with pain or nausea and was gone by 11am the next morning and onto living my best life. No real hairy complications throughout. Just last week, I had a small issue with developing an internal hernia. Very trying until I was able to get back to my surgeon and her team. Then poof, 45 minutes later at midnight last Thursday it was fixed and again, no issue, no real big deal pain at all. Living the dream. We are all so different. We have different pain thresholds and are all in different head spaces and that all influences how we handle extreme stress. Hang in there. It gets better. And next year you won't recognize how far you've come.

  11. Ditch the wine babe. With wine comes evening munchies and fatty liver. The end. If I drink wine I can wave goodbye to losing weight for a minimum of 4 days. Truth. And I invariably want a bedtime snack of almonds and chocolate...all things that lead to stalls or regain.
  12. Gosh! I'm alternately confused and in awe of your spirit of adventure with operating on your tum and gut! 😯 I truly hope this doc is the real deal and can handle a surgery of this magnitude and that it's the cure you're seeking. I know you are super savvy and have done your research! So bravo. Please continue to work on the head part of this process cuz as you know and experience, it's possible to eat around ANY of these surgeries. I second the part from @catwoman7 about being super vigilant about keeping up with vitamins/minerals and vit/min testing to make sure you are in optimal ranges! Let us know how it goes!!!
  13. Ok, I admit I'm a slow adopter. LOL. So many of you probably already have been making this for centuries. Most of you know how much I still my decaff protein lattes--17 months out. I still love the mornings when I'm not fasting and get to put a juuuge in mah morning or afternoon cuppa. Nirvana! BUT! Lately, I've been jamming on two different decaff coffee variations! They are "non-recipes". Not a great deal of measuring...unless you want to track your cocoa. Decaff With Cinnamon - Just sprinkle a bit of ground cinnamon in the bottom of your cup and fill with hot decaff coffee. Nothing else. No sweetener. No creamer or protein drink. Just pure cinnamon and decaff. So refreshing. Plus the ground cinnamon may make you lower your blood glucose! Score! Mocha Cafe With Cinnamon - Put 5g of extra dark cocoa powder in the bottom of mug + ground cinnamon + decaff coffee. Stir as you add the super hot (coffee needs to be super hot to incorporate the cocoa) coffee. Enjoy. Cocoa is filled with anti-oxidants and polyphenols that offer great nutritional bang for your buck and makes your gut and brain happy happy! What are some of your easy peasy non-recipes/tips of things that get your through the day without adding a crap ton of calories or leading yourself astray from cravings?

I need more food ideas for soft food stage

I didn't have to do purees, only mushies. They had to be mashable with a fork and I had to chew like crazy. Also, my quantity was only 1/8-1/4cup volume at that time. So it was super important to keep things SIMPLE and with as little cooking as possible. So my mainstays were: Tuna Salad (pouch tuna + HB egg + cottage cheese + dijon mustard + pickle juice) Chicken Salad (canned chicken + HB egg + cottage cheese + dijon mustard + garlic powder s/p + ranch mix) Salmon Salad (canned salmon minus skin but with bones mashed up + cottage cheese + dijon mustard + tarragon vinegar) Eggface Cottage Cheese Bake (sub out cottage cheese for ricotta + parmesan + ps mozza shreds + low carb marinara) Chicken Green Bean Casserole (canned chicken + cream of mushroom soup + canned green beans + garlic powder s/p/onion powder + nuke til hot and bubbly) Soft Boiled Eggs with a tiny bit of butter Tilapia foil pouch + frozen broccoli cooked to mushy Green Smoothie (scoop of banana protein powder + 1oz frozen spinach + 1oz frozen blueberries + Silk unsweetend cashew milk + peanut butter powder) Yogurt Cottage Cheese Soup with Canned Fruit (1/4c Grk yogurt + 1/4c cottage cheese + liquid stevia drops + soft canned fruit or apple sauce unsweetened) SF Popsicles Protein Coffees and Protein Teas (decaff) And that's what I lived on until I progressed. So damn easy.
  16. I was required by my surgeon's office to lose 10% of my total weight during the 6-month lead-in to WLS. That should have been about 26lbs. I began the program at 256lbs on my 1st weigh-in. Surgery Wt was 222lbs. I lost 34lbs on their weight loss plan.

Shew! That's better knowing it's cuz of a Monk thing. Cuz the other...well that's like an entirely different order of magnitude parallel with the mystical flight of the butterfly that no one should ever discuss. The penalty from the female tribe is too great. Death by stoning from the pits of well...stone fruits.

((hugs)) Don't think of it as your 14 day pre-op liquid diet. Think of it as your right of passage. Part of the entrance payment to the club.

    Had Emergency Surgery Just Now

Update today: 7.16.19 I weighed in at 135.8lbs. Morning of surgery I was 133lbs and went up to my highest weight after surgery (from D5LR IV) was 141lbs. Obscenely relieved to see the scale going in the right direction!!! Obsessed much?
  23. Look, if you KNOW what's going on = bad habits are creeping back, then you KNOW what to do. Hon, this happens at ANY age, not cuz you're an older VSG girl. Quit cheatin. Work your honeymoon and you will get back to bidness. Stay the course!
