    pouch reset

WTG girl! Now I can't wait for Monday again. We're goin to the river this weekend, so I know it's pointless to start mine again, but I too have taken up a protein drink (full one) each day. So far since surgery last Thursday night I lost 7 of the 8lbs of fluid I gained from the IV. That's the quickest to lose that kind of weight in my life. So am hopeful!

We're same height but don't know about your build. I'm just average. I plan to get to Goal#3 of 130lbs then maybe continue to my Barbie DreamGirl Goal of 125#. Then see how I feel. I may decide to go for my Insurance Company "Ideal Weight" target...but that's so far off.

    Concern questions for post-op

Oh great point! I feel great in my clothes and I've got tons of skin since I'm old and once weighed 325lbs.

    Food Before and After Photos

My latest crush. I get into "food jags" where I'm intensely satisfied with the satiety, satisfaction/taste of a meal and then repeat it till I'm done with it for a few months. This latest is my "eggwhite foldover"--think of it like an eggwhite soft taco with a slice of Hillshire Farms Naturals Black Forest Ham a slice or wedge of low fat cheese, hot sauce of some kind, and baby arugula or greens of some kind. Totes yum! It's a great protein bang for the calorie buck. I could have stopped about 1/2 way through but well...you know. There were no survivors.

    Food Before and After Photos

Ohhh! Great idea!!! I will do this next time! (ermmmm I'm guilty of ignoring that first little tale-tell sign cuz experience taught me that if I stop at that point I don't stay full for longer than 2hours and I don't want to be spiking insulin every 2 hours. I guess that's probably a problem? just spitballing...)
  15. There is comfort in having others who can also eat these quantities!! ((hugs)) Know exactly what you mean about paying the price of one bite too much on dense protein. Holy hell! LOL. Yeah, I think 7oz is a stretch for me that I might be able to do on fish/shrimp and maybe ultra rare steak (a slider for me if it's rare).

    Concern questions for post-op

Hi and welcome! Hair Loss: maybe? We're all different. Getting too thin: Worry about following your surgeon's plan. Good news is most of us already broke the code on how to gain weight. Worry about how to lose down to your personal goal. The rest takes care of itself regardless of starting weight. Loose skin: Probably. Also individual and depends on genetics and age usually. Dehydration: The struggle is real for many. Fluid is KING before and after surgery. If you stay fully hydrated then it's easier to eat normally and remain nausea free and losing weight. I'm 17 months out. At 4 days I was getting my 64oz of liquids in and now I have 100+oz per day every day. Congrats on making the pre-emptive changes. I've got zero regrets. Don't be anxious!
  17. Oh! OK, I do that too! So just for reference, about how many ounces would you say you can comfortably eat of the dense protein by weight per meal? (Some things like fish I can eat 6oz of...) Do you have the same situation?

Struggling with the idea of surgery

Oh bloody hell. This is the guys' room! DERP! My apologies to every dude on the planet for busting in and adding my unnecessary opinion! Carry on--am bowing out now! (Calling Dr. Bombay @johnny cakes to come kick my ass for breaking into the club house!)
  19. @GradyCat Congrats on your progress!!! So glad you figured out a great hack!!! That's awesome! So I'm in awe and have a question? Can you really and truly eat about 10.25oz of dense protein by weight in one meal? How long did it take for you to eat it that meal? How did your tummy feel afterward? I ask because I "feel" like I have a large pouch capacity. And I've never tested it fully with dense protein other than doing my cottage cheese volume test. So don't know if I can eat 10oz of dense protein in a meal. I always try to limit it as much as possible to my 3-4oz per meal. But I do have composite meals with low carb veg which differs... TY for giving me perspective! Maybe my pouch is "normal" and it's just that I don't understand the definition of a fully healed pouch capacity.
  20. Yep D5LR: IV with 5% dextrose (Ringer's Lactate).

    3 months post op pain

Under your name on the left hand side it shows a lot of information for most of us. And then in our signatures, many of us have additional information. Under your name it only shows "pre-op" and "4posts" and doesn't show what your surgery date was, how tall, your weight goal, surgery weight, etc... And any of us can post to any forum. Some even post the same question in multiple forums. I'm not telling you this to show you are doing anything wrong, only explaining that it's really hard to give our opinions with blind info, hon! Hope you get help from your doc.

    3 months post op pain

Hi and sorry for your pain. It would help if you fill out your profile so we even know what kind of surgery you had or are going to have and when your surgery was or will be, etc... It sounds to me like this is a phone call to your doc for evaluation type of pain but I'm just a shmo on the internet and not a doc or nurse!

Struggling with the idea of surgery

I had these same doubts. It's natural to be wary. ((hugs)) From day 1 I've had no problems meeting my individual protein goals. I can eat anything I feel like eating. Anything...including dry, dense, proteins. YMMV. We are all different. But a couple of things: 1. The challenge for most of us isn't in what we CAN'T eat or enjoy any longer. The challenge is actually to make healthy choices over our old food loves/addictions. 2. Because I've really focused on rebuilding the types of food I eat, I now have a new gut biome and my cravings are quite different now. I now actively CRAVE healthy food and prefer eating fish (salmon, cod, and white fish, shrimp) and chicken breast and ground turkey over beef. I could have never predicted that since I used to adore beef! Go figure. You will find that as you are successful losing weight that your priorities and focus might change.

What complications have you lot had

Most of us have had very few, if any complications. Stay the course. Do your research on your doctor's experience and on the hospital where you will have surgery. If you feel confident in them, then proceed. If not, then find a new doc/team/hospital. This surgery has about the same complication risk of gall bladder surgery. Most are done minimally invasive so it further reduces risk. Seriously the easiest surgery I've ever had. I've no regrets and feel fantastic at 17 months out. I'm 4lbs from my Goal #3 of 130lbs and love my new life. My only TRUE regret is not doing this sooner. I wasted so much of my life being sick, MO, and exhausted/pain. Hang in there! Remember to breathe.
  25. Congrats on your baby! So the first thing I would do is go see your original surgeon and talk to them. Find out your options and see if she will order tests to try to dx if you have a tool problem. I don't see any of your profile information. So it's really hard to offer constructive thoughts? Welcome back.
