How to choose a realistic goal weight
FluffyChix replied to ValerieInMexico's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would honestly pick something smack in the middle of this normal chart for your height assuming you can get there given your medical history, medications, activity level, metabolism, etc. It's why I backed into mine and have 3 goals. I'm 3lbs from Goal #3 (130lbs). My ideal weight is calculated by my doc to be 120lbs and represents a goal of 100% of EBW lost from surgery day. I doubt I would ever get to that weight and nor does she expect me to. Her goal for me was 160lbs. I'm 5'4" and 56 years old. Oh yeah, and the BMI chart works for me cuz I am just totes normal. Not extra muscle. Not extra athlete. Not big framed. -
No way would I even think of you as fluffy. I see you as svelte and slim with a perfect figure/proportion and smokin' hot! I just think I carry my weight differently (in my lower abdomen and booty/thighs in a jiggly loose sorta way. LOL. And yes, of course you're right...it's BD and a highly self-critical lens. I see myself very harshly and I don't apply that lens to others. *************** And of course you're right. It IS stinkin-thinkin lol! Thanks!

Vets - How often do you weigh yourself?
FluffyChix replied to Losebig's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Love the "oh crap" level! I'm not a vet--am only 17months out. And I'm still trying to lose those last few pounds to Goal #3 of 130lbs. So I do and will continue to weigh daily. I also pre-plan my food for the day, weigh, measure, and log every bite whenever possible in MFP. If the scale tics up a couple pounds and I can attribute it to some food behavior, then I know that a few days of being "an angel" lol, will make it return to the bottom. I never want to be more than a couple to 5 lbs up from goal weight. I agree that returning to basics and following your forever rules including trying to follow the portion part of it, is the ticket to getting back on plan. It's seldom a result of tool failure. One cup per meal, 3 meals per day, no snacking but if needed an extra mini meal (well-thought out and planned) is doable. Protein forward, limit or eliminate crap carbage. -
I tried to get a daily menu thread going a while back, but it never really took off. I'd participate if you ran it. The bad thing is that if you create a new menu thread each day it will quickly fill up the right side bar of recent posts with "Daily Menu" threads and be very very annoying. So it's important to plan it out so it isn't intrusive to those who don't want to be part of the Daily Menu. You know?

You look adorable in them!!! Go cheap!

Hi y’all! Fair warning, I’m posting PUI (posting under the influence) right now! 😳🥳🤩🤪🥰😂🤣😅😇 Seems I had a serious case of the fomos this week with @GreenTealael having her upcoming VSG to RNY surgery for GERD and @Alex Brecher having his RNY reversal for bowel obstructions/necrosis. I just had to wrap up a pending tri-fecta! LOL What I thought was a serious case of food poisoning — or as I like to say, “When good refrigerator roulette goes bad”...was actually a sudden onset of internal hernia with twisted gut. It came on so quickly Sunday night and by Tuesday I couldn’t eat. And Wednesday ended up curled up on a cold tile (filthy) floor in the ER convinced I was dying, moaning, sweating profusely and making quite a spectacle! My only regret is I didn’t have a tip jar handy to earn a few quarters!! It’s a risk of WLS that is part of less than 3% total for complications after surgery—so no need to fear complications from WLS. To put in perspective that 3% is lower than the national averages for all sorts of surgeries!!! I’m 17 months out from RNY and was just so super surprised by this new development! But initial surgery went very well! I went into surgery at 12 midnight and was back in my room after recovery by 3:45am! Woot! I have a rockstar surgeon and team who were able to do it all laporoscopically! She said if I play my cards right and am able to eat something later today and get my walking in that I can probably go home late this afternoon! Yeah, baybee!!! Now I just have to proactively start medicating to guard against having a Rosemary’s Baby sort of post op poo! 😞😥 i’m so grateful to everyone and for our Bariatric Pal Family! Thanks Alex for creating such a special place! (Oh and I don’t recommend doing it this way, but this morning was back to being only 3.4lbs away from final Goal #3 of 130lbs!!! Woohoo! With my post op plan progression in place I expect to shed this post surgical fluid weight gain in a couple of weeks and reach Goal #3!)

Yes! It’s really nbd!! Lol but you should see the shopping list: rice, Idaho potato, bananas , apples, sourdough bread, lololol! That’s why I don’t see the 131 “sticking” hahaha!! (But I was extremely grateful to the Poo Fairy for sparing me from the whole RB post surgery experience! 😘 -
Where will you be 9 months from now?

So I had same experience as @GradyCat—nothin much jacked with me except heavy calorie dense foods. My tastes did change in that I now crave healthy, clean, light foods. Still don’t eat many casserole type high cal junk—just don’t want it. Protein drinks did taste sweeter but that was easily handled. I just dilute the clear ones with water or tea and dilute the creamy ones with decaf coffee, decaf teas and Greek yogurt and cultured cottage cheese. NBD. i have a firm philosophy with my self —it’s called “The suck-it-up-buttercup” defense. I went into the surgery with a hardline attitude that I wasn’t gonna allow my new anatomy to make me its little bi*ch. So anytime a food didn’t sit well I’d set it aside for a couple weeks then retry. I can now eat all.the.foods. I knew I wanted to get in, get out and get on with living my best life and didn’t want to get stuck in the attention/seeking loop that is our pre-surgery and post-surgery life. By definition we must focus selfishly on ourselves and I wanted to minimize that phase for the sake of my rl relationships. I wasnt 100%perfect—no one is, but mindset is important and can make a difference to everything even post op food tolerances!!! -
I think it should be something fun — entertaining. 🥰

Had Emergency Surgery Just Now

How I’m doing is great and maybe not so much lol. I’ll start with the great part? I’m down to a new low of 131.6 this morning. Notsogreat is that it almost certainly won’t stick the landing cuz l got here by “foul” means lol. Apparently SOMEONES prayers to the Poo Fairy in this ESTABLISHMENT were too fervent and it’s backfired cuz I can’t turn the spigot off and nothin is stayin put. So it’s dehydration weight loss. 😏😲🥴 Did some tests yesterday and have “homework” to turn in Monday and we’ll know if it’s serious or not next week. Meanwhile I’m back here hangin with potassium pills and Kaopectate. 🍾🎉🥳 hoping I’m not in a beginning stage of a little infection . My temp is starting to come up a little. -

Yeah, I totally get this! I don’t have the same self-loathing as I did when MO. I’m generally very happy with how I feel in my skin most of the time. And feel good and normal when we’re out and about. But seeing pics of myself somehow still loads those old tapes and I see myself with extreme bias. And what’s weird is I would never think about applying those same critical filters to others—even if they were more gentle. Lol guess I’ve still got a lot of headwork left!! How about y’all? Has your BD decreased with your losses and smokin hot outfits?

I still love sf pops. I'm a purest so my fave is still the old-fashioned original flavors from Popsicle. Sugar Free of course.

How do you like the Strawberries and Cream? My fave is still Bananas and Cream (especially in coffee and smoothies). But I've wanted to try the strawberry but been afraid! Reviews please. And how much are you able to get down at a sitting? SF Popsicles are pretty heavenly tho...could easily pass on the sf jello and sf pudding tho. -
POD-doctor's outfit. So seriously--damn you body dysmorphia. At 133lbs I "feel" thin in my body. You know? Or at least normal. I can now look in the mirror and think I just simply look normal. Right? But when I look at these pics in outfits I used to feel thin in, I think I look heavier than when the jeans were on the tight side. They are now on the loose side of life and I need to go down to an 8 in them. And my waist looks so "thick" (and clearly so do my fluffy thighs). *sigh* Anyone else have this issue even in their super hot outfits?

Adorable!!! Can I be you when I grow up? (Or alternately, can I just lose 15 more pounds and come live in your closet? )
