5'4" | 56yo Female | 133.4lbs | 17mos po | WLM (weight loss mode) | 60+ walking ***************************** Wow great choices from your meal out! It sounds lovely! And way better than what my day ended up being. I'm thinking I'll try today, but I may start entering my day retroactively. So today I'd post yesterday's menu. But we'll see. Today I may actually be able to stay on plan--yesterday needed to wing it. Am having some tummy issues from the surgeon having to manhandle my guts a couple of weeks ago and I'm kinda being forced into a Pouch Reset diet to try to see if I can wait it out til my gut wakes back up. So it's a full liquid diet today and I'm gonna see how it goes. Boring, but should be filling. B=protein latte x 3 MS=1 sf jello L=cocomo joe iced protein coffee AS=bone broth D=cocomo joe frappacino BS=2 sf popsicles -

How to choose a realistic goal weight
FluffyChix replied to ValerieInMexico's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Agreed. No where did I say I was aiming for my ideal as defined by archaic insurance charts. But even if I did say I was personally aiming for it, it wouldn't make me wrong to try if I want to try, just as YOUR decision to remain at your perceived "ideal 50-60 year old weight" doesn't make you wrong. Whatever floats your boat, and I support that. My opinion about what weight stat OP should aim for would be somewhere in the middle of her normal range for height etc if she has a body type that fits the BMI model. -
What fruit can you and canβt you eat?
FluffyChix replied to OzCaz's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Watermelon even pre-surgery was a winner in the Poo Fairy department. Post RNY, I have to be very careful of it. I can have a bite or two now, but there was a time not too long ago when that much would bring on an episode of RH. I try to keep anything with sugar/fructose at <5g/serving just to be safe. I can eat an ounce of dark berries. I can eat about 2oz of GS apple with peel. And a small amount 1/2 serving size or less of unsweetened GS applesauce. I can eat 1oz tomatoes and some tomato sauces/marinara without added sugars. I can eat avocado 1-3oz. I can eat 1oz of banana. That's it for fruit for me. Don't do well with peaches or pears. -
Weights vs measures

((hugs)) With or without being on the spectrum, this is HARD, so hard to deal with and the unknown and waiting for lab results are the worst!!! ((hugs)) Be gentle with yourself. You are doing so great. I'm so sorry to hear your struggles. Call the doc and insist on that MRI hon. I don't think it's a conspiracy, but I do think sometimes they miss posting things. U/S have their place, but MRIs and CTs are the gold standard, especially for differentiating solid masses. Saying prayers for peace and answers for you!!! -
I had an RH episode trying Halo late at night. I do fine with a half serving, but not a full one. Just FYI. Sure sounds like it could be the RH.

^^^ Serious yumminess!!! -
Dang girl!! ((hugs)) And saying prayers! It sounds like 1 of 2 things: Orthostatic hypotension (low bp) and dehydration can make this worse. OR Reactive hypoglycemia (but usually when I'm low enough to black out, I'm in a hot sweat, burning up inside, trembling uncontrollably, shaking hands, and needing to pee like a racehorse and very very confused, like I almost can't form a coherent sentence to let Mr. F. know I need help.) Do you have a bp cuff along with your finger stick? It's easy to tell OH because your bp will change very dramatically from one taken when laying flat and then quickly sitting up and taking it. It's a big sudden change in your numbers, it will drop lower with sitting than when laying flat. And RH is very easy to spot. Basically if you are less than 60, you need something to eat. If you are less than 40, you need to act very quickly with fruit juice or glucose tablets and take your bg every 15 minutes until you see it start to move up. Then 30 minutes to an hour later follow it with protein (I use nut butter I keep in single servings by the bed and a 6oz can of OJ by the bed -- also have glucose tablets and my bg monitor). Hope that helps! And you need to call your PCP and get seen!!! ((hugs))

Pre Operation Diet Question!
FluffyChix replied to RoseQuartz56's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Clear liquids are very very specific. Clear liquids are: black coffee black tea (or black green tea ) clear liquids (non-red or non-orange or non-purple): sugar free drink mixes without color, sf drinks that are see-through in nature and not colored sugar free pop-sicles (tropical fruit flavored, no red, no orange, no purple) water sugar free jello (no red, orange is probably ok) broth of all nature as long as it's clear (beef, chicken, pork, seafood, veggies--no tomato, no cream soups) And that's about it. Good luck with surgery tomorrow! -

Weights vs measures
FluffyChix replied to Darktowerdream's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Wow. So belly fat is often the last part to go as other posters mentioned. Also, your mass needs to be checked. So please follow-up and insist on having it imaged. That is also interfering with your losses in your abdomen. Go get that fixed girl. You've now lost 41lbs. So you are in a better shape to have that removed. It's probably a pedunculated fibroid tumor (rarely malignant), and in most cases the solution is a total hysterectomy. I know this cuz I had many along with a 4 month "fetus" sized uterus that made my gut huge. So don't wait for that. ((hugs)) Congrats on the 41lbs! Outstanding! -

Ok, I'll jump in. My menu for the next week or so will be kinda jacked. I'm having some let's just say, "intestinal issues" as a result of the gut surgery a couple weeks ago so am having something I don't normally--a modified BRAT diet with lots of carbolicious nonsense! So this should be very interesting how it's gonna affect my weight and rate of loss, and blood sugar. My fasting bg went from 83 to 102 in just 2 days. So yeah. There's that. LOL. My weight info is all in my left side area under my name and in my signature line. 133.0lbs this morning working on Goal #3 of 130lbs. 56 year old, 5'4" female. Here's today's jacked up menu. I'm just not hungry and tummy is having issues so it's doubtful I'll eat until lunchtime and even then, I may not get all my meals in. I may be going to the PCP about it. (click to enlarge image) B-decaff green tea L-yogurt "protein soup" with bananas and blueberries AS-chicken and rice bone broth soup D-chicken and rice with green beans BS-yogurt "protein soup" with bananas and blueberries Walk 60+ minutes today. -

Donβt want to leave my house.
FluffyChix replied to AnnieD78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If this concerns you, I would highly suggest seeking therapy with a bariatric counselor. ((hugs)) What you are describing is quite common. I was pretty much shut in and chair bound when I started this journey this last time at 287lbs. My all time high was 325lbs. And I was totally shut in. I work from home, so it is easy to go days/weeks without people. Now that I'm down to 133lbs, I hate staying home! I want to be active out and doing things and being with people. My personality has totally changes (again--they say we all change about every 7 years). But it really depends on you. Are you introverted or extrovert. Introverts need the quiet alone/down time in order to refuel themselves. Extroverts are fueled externally and need group interaction to refuel. So one person's normal could be highly stressful for you and it may be that little changes about your preferences after weight loss. Impossible for us to predict. Keep following your path to surgery and your new life! But get your support network up and running now, pre-surgery!!! Get and keep your RD on board and your therapist also a rl support group and continue to come here and interact! -
