    Spicy food

This morning there are no less than 4 whiny posts about totally normal progressions in this surgery. Did everyone think this was easy, no pain, no concessions re: food/eating? Seriously? We had big time billy badass surgerys cuz we were fuc*ing morbidly obese or super morbidly obese. In order to change our physical reality, there WILL be pain, there WILL be deprivation, there WILL be dying to our basic food instincts and short term cravings. There has to be in order to realize long term success. Now is the time to seize the day and embrace the suck cuz it will net you extraordinary advantages in the first 2 months if you work it baby. Work it like a street corner on a busy Saturday night!

    Post sleeve feelings

This is a right of passage y'all. Embrace the suck and jut get through it! It lasts ONLY a short time! These first 2 months are the time when you will LOSE THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF WEIGHT YOU WILL EVER LOSE IN 2 MONTHS. You do that because of your surgery, recovery, and the liquid diets! TY docs! You're eating 300 or so cals per day. That's HOW you lose so fast. It's not magic bean surgery. Embrace the suck! Don't advance your surgery schedule! Just do it and get over it. Jaze! We all had to do it. It's part of living the forkin process!

    Is this normal

How in hell are you gettin in 1000cals on a puree diet at 2 weeks? That's WAY too many cals. I was at around 300ish to 400 during that time. Concentrate on protein. Ditch the effin carby crap and calorie dense rich food. This isn't magic bean surgery. It works quickly cuz it allows you an almost painless way to restrict the fu*k out of your calories and out of your food quantity to put you into dietary ketosis. Maximize your honeymoon period and don't squander it. A doc told me the first 2 months post surgery are when their patients lose the absolute MAXIMUM number or pounds. After that it's all downhill in the rate of loss department. They are able to do that cuz they are eating between 200-400 cals per day!!!!

    Spicy food

I had an iron pouch. But it still took weeks/months for me to heal to the point that spicy food was comfy again. Go slow. Cool your jets and fears. Embrace this time where you're on liquids and later have no interest in food. It is when you will LOSE THE MOST WEIGHT YOU WILL EVER BE ABLE TO LOSE IN YOUR LIFE. Isn't this surgery and everything you've been through leading up to it worth it to you? Jeeze break up with the food ties that bind right now. *le sigh* (I seem to have woken on the wrong side of the newbie bed this morning.)

    No Interest in Food?

Look. I think you need to get real and embrace this sh*t! It's a stage. We ALL go through it and it's one of the miracle wonders of the honeymoon period. So here's your job: Some how, SOME WAY, get your protein need met everyday. I frankly don't care how you do it. Drink 2 protein drinks. Done. Drink a protein drink and have some meat. I don't care. Just MEET YOUR PROTEIN GOAL. The End. Anything else is unnecessary. Now, do NOT allow the snacking bs to re-enter your life. Quit it. Or I swear you will sabotage your surgery. It has a way of sneaking in when you least want it. Do not allow your food innervation to help rationalize your poor choices. Of COURSE snacky slidery food is easy to eat. It's what we want. It's what appeals. The food companies have spent billions addicting us!!! And making the food extra appealing. So you MUST break up with it. Seriously. (I hate posts like this...)

    OOTD

Love everyone's outfits! Keep em coming!!! I'm now officially out of clothes to model. LOL. I know y'all will yell at me about any others cuz they are big and comfy on me. LOL. I won't be buying new clothes right now cuz I still have an orange size blood clot in my lower tum area from the surgery and it makes a huge ass baby pooch and makes my tum area big. So will have to wait for it to go down before I'm gonna bust a move and buy some real clothes at a non-thrift store especially. LOL.
  8. How was everyone's weekend!? Let's see some menus!!!! Come one, come all!!! I had a couple of really good days recovery wise. Thinking things were back to norms and this morning. Bam! WWF Smack Down!!! Hellll NOOOOO BIO&CH!!!! Your MINE! LOL. And like that I backslid. LOL. Oh well. Wasn't good this weekend, nor did I follow any real diet rec from the doc cuz I was just over it all and I rationalized it. Went up and down a couple of pounds. This morning back to being stuck at 134.8lbs. Which is fine. Cuz at the beginning of the month I was up and down a couple of pounds around 136-138lb so it's incrementally still ticking down. Sunday, July 28, 2018 5'4" 56yr female, WLM 17months RNY, 134.8lbs B-black decaff Brunch-2 over medium fried eggs, 1 1/4 piece crispy bacon, 1/3 biscuit with 1tbsp gravy + black decaff (Felt like absolute crap and got sick after this meal...like yeah. I predicted it and still ate it.) Protein Blend with Casein

I dunno. I've read that bypassers especially don't digest the casein protein and so we need all isolate. But quite honestly the best protein sub is the one you can get down consistently. And not hurl from. Right? I'm just so thankful to be on the other side of that one and hope not to need to be pure protein drinks for weeks on end again. I would just honestly find ones you like and drink those and if worried, then up consumption to go toward a max protein load like 80-100g per day of protein rather than 60-80g as a female? The doc does protein levels on you including albumen and if they suspect issues, then pre-albumin which should catch any issues. And as soon as you the doc says, start replacing most of your protein with food sources. Oh and I love: Premier Protein (chocolate, bananas and cream, vanilla, caramel) Isopure (bananas and cream, dutch chocolate, vanilla) Synthrax Nectar (lemon iced tea, grapefruit, fuzzy navel) Cheers and good luck hon!

    NEE CLOTHING

Wait til the week before your birthday to buy your birthday outfit. Everyone is so different! I have used thrift stores to buy my intermediate clothing. I try to only pay $1 ea for the items. Good luck and congrats on your surgery. Maximize the hell out of your honeymoon phase and get your walking and hydration on girl!!!

    Tummy Tuck 8/21

Dang! Congrats @BlueCrush! You look amazing! Do you feel more restriction from your tool now after plastics? Congrats on doing the core exercises to tighten those muscles to become part of the 5%!!!! Woot!
  14. FluffyChix

    Tummy Tuck 8/21

Hey hon! I'm so excited for you!! You should do some research! Studies show that after WLS plastics are very beneficial for long term success. I'm not sure if they know quantitatively "how" it works yet, but one hypothesis is that the further tightness of the muscles and skin make a "living girdle" so to speak that reinforces your restriction and it adds to ongoing satiety. Win win, right!? So consider that when making your choice. I'd ask the surgeon for proof that your muscles are very tight and need no extra firming!! And my opinion is that you should fersure do the fleur de lis. But I also think you might want or need the underlying muscle work too? Only you know...Also ask @BigViffer and @BlueCrush and @Healthy_life2 what their experience is with how tight their abdomens are from their lifting. So maybe it IS possible to get super tight toned without cutting the muscles? Sorry to butt in!!! Just thoughts to ponder!

    Holy pistachios Batman!!!

So my opinion is that you appear FAR too pleased to have them in your life. That is a huge red flag for me when I see myself and others do this. Cuz 9 times out of 10 it represents a behavior that announces the presence of a red flag food. Like, if they live in your house somewhere, you will choose to eat them preferentially over other food choices...and that you are receiving a high reward/lizard brain opiod hit from them--which reinforces a relationship and/or behavior. And that means at some point? You will begin eating them with abandon and that they could stall or stop your losses. Of course I could be full of crap. I'm sure it's that. I have proof that I'm 9/10ths crap.

    salmon fillet

You need to ask your fish guy to scale it for you first. Then you make small scores in the skin and cook it skin side down until crispy, then flip it and finish cooking it. It's delish, but it's also the place where most of the contaminants gather like dioxin, pcbs, heavy metals. So anymore, I eat it only once in a blue moon.

    Post sleeve weight gain

Here's Dr. Matthew Weiner's take on weight gain and stretching out your tool. It's a common issue. And newbies defend their position to the death: that "everything in moderation" is ok. Dr. Weiner calls it the myth of restriction and malabsorption. Love it! This isn't magic bean surgery. They operate on our tummies not our heads. So we have to do everything we can to address the head issues that contributed to our disease while maximizing the advantage that WLS provides. It doesn't just "magically" end being a tool at the end of our honeymoon periods (anything equal to or <2 years). You still have your tool. But you have to exercise it. I too highly recommend how healthy counseling is for us. Get a referral to your RD for post op loss care and also to a bariatric counselor. All of our surgeons wish that their patients come back to them when they are only at the 10lb regain stage rather than the 50 or 60 or 100lb regain stage. 10lbs in 3 months really needs to be quickly evaluated. It could be your choices, but it could also be hormonal of some nature and you need to have a complete work-up and evaluation. BTW, you should stick around here and get support and provide support. Your journey will help others just like you/us!!!! Here's Dr. Weiner on the subject.
  18. Friday-July 26 5'4" 56 year old female, WLM, 134.8lbs Ok guys, yesterday was a great tummy day. I say "great" cuz I had no big huge pains, rumblies, or you know whats! Woot! And things are kinda looking sorta normal-ish! I didn't notice any difference between the early part of the date only drinking fluids and protein drinks and end of day where I added low fiber food. But the one thing that I'm very dissatisfied with is the number of times I had food or caloric drinks going down my piehole. And I was hungry again all day! I attribute that to the part where the more I eat and the more often I eat, the hungrier I get and also the more carbs I eat the hungrier I am. And I think that my IR rears its ugly head in response to protein drinks via cephalic insulin response, despite being low carb--as well as the true insulin response to the carby pasta I ate last night. So today I'm gonna fine tune the diet and go back <30g carbs and try to eat only on a schedule. So we'll see. I will also just do mostly food today--still trying to stick to small servings. We'll see. But no poopies or cramping means my guts are waking back up!!! Yippeee!!! The crops ahr saved! Here's yesterday's train-wreck: B1-cultured cottage cheese + grk yogurt (plain) + banana protein drink + banana B2-cocomojoe protein latte L-beef bone broth + tropical punch protein drink AS-grilled salmon + linguine + green beans D-bone broth + smoked chicken shreds + green beans + angel hair noodles BS-part of a quest bar + decaff coffee GAH! Make it stop! ROFLMHAO! (click to enlarge...if you dare...)
  19. Hahaha! Congrats! See I read this as, you are building an old-peeps home to keep people in. Then I realized you are building you and wifey's retirement dream home. LOL! Your menu still looks fab!!

    Bariatric Support

Make sure you are very specific with your surgeon about your genetic condition. Make sure that the VSG will provide as much help metabolically for you as an RNY would. You need him to tell you for certain that you will still get the benefit of helping your T2 with the incretin thing!! Your mom and you need to understand that. Best of luck to you!!
  22. FluffyChix

    Pre-op and obsessed?

Yes, but even more importantly as a subcategory of "changing everything internally", it changes EVERYTHING hormonally!! And this resets our metabolism, lowers our set point and allows us to maintain our weight a little easier at that new lower set point. This is a huge differentiator!
  23. FluffyChix

    PAIN! WTF!?

Yes. My RD and doc both said it's very common. It's cuz of the very abrupt shifts in our weight and the rapid losses. It does improve though!!
