    April sleevers!

Hello, My surgery is set for April 18th and is also the first surgery of the day at 7:15am. I've been at this process for 10 months now since June 22nd. My insurance is really strict and I had to complete counseling, nutrition and diet program, labs, cardiology, pulmonary, gastro clearance, be treated for H. Pylori, etc. I've been a go getter from the start and completed everything 4 months ago however the openings for surgery have been slim and my surgeons went on vacation for what felt like forever. I've been doing Premier Protein practicing for my 2 week pre op liquid diet. I've been calm, organized, and persistent this entire ride. However, now that I've completed all of the steps and only have waiting left, I'm starting to feel the nerves for sure. I wish you all the best of luck and am here for anybody who needs support!

    Short and Lower 200's

Thank you for posting on here. I personally love hearing the journey of those who are going before me that way I can follow your tips. I've read everything I can online however following the footsteps of someone who is currently in the situation helps with not only feeling alone on the journey but being able to swap ideas to get us all through those tough times!

    Any other April 2018 Sleevers?

We're all on a journey to better ourselves together. I have my surgery the 18th however I have been through the educational, nutritional, and exercise programs since my program is so strict since June 2017. I can help answer any questions anybody has and we can always help each other find out answers to questions that might not have a known answer. I cannot imagine how terrifying of an experience it must have been in that airport. It seems as God showed you an answer to your problems and you guys are following through on it. I hope everything goes well and cannot wait to hear your success. My husband is luckily tall and slender however he has been through ALL classes and appointments with me including sitting in with surgeons, nurses, nutritionist, weight loss coaches, therapists, and support groups. We heard about the divorce rate as well and so he decided to integrate himself into my journey so it felt like part of his own as well. I am so proud of you guys for being there to support each other. This will most likely only make your marriage even stronger. Those who are new to this whole experience learning all that you can now is perfect. So many people go into this ill prepared including only wanting to see the positives and not preparing for the negatives. Watching other's experiences help to prepare for these obstacles and gives you a safety net of knowledge and supportive people to lean on to help accomplish your goals. I love the community that we have built together on this forum and stand by all of you on your journey's!!!! Let's not lose touch with each other post op, that is when we will need each other the most for success!!

Where are my 5ft tall peeps at?

Heyyyy! I'm 5'0 tall and my surgery is set for April 18th!!!!! My journey began June of 2017 and it has taken so long since my surgeons went on vacation for what felt like forever and my program has been really strict due to my insurance requiring so many things. I'm currently at 220lbs but have been experimenting with liquid protein shake days before my actual 2 week liquid diet starting April 4th. I feel like it is better to get in the mindset. My surgeon said I will almost definitely get under 200lbs before surgery after the liquid diet!! I tend to stall a lot mostly around 190, 186, 176, 172, 166, 163, 158, 155, 152, 148, 146, etc. My goal weight is around 125lbs. At 5'0 a healthy BMI is anywhere from 127-97 lbs. So excited to find a group of other shorties!!!!

    Start Liquid diet tomorrow

Hi my surgery is April 18, I start my preop liquid diet on April 4. However, before period to avoid the "last supper" effect a lot of people go through by eating all their favorite things and gaining, I am doing a liquid diet now so I can prepare for the actual one and not give in. I am drinking Premier Protein. 1 shake is 11 oz and includes: 30g of Protein 4g of Carbs 3g of Fat 1g Sugar 160 Calories 24 Vitamins & Minerals It is Caseinate protein so it digest slower in your body to give you a full feeling for a longer period of time. If you are lactose intolerant you might want to pass on it. Sam's Club is the cheapest place and they have 12 packs for $16.66. Oreo & Cream (taste like melted oreo ice cream) so delicious!!) Banana & Cream (taste in between a banana laffy taffy and banana cream pie) Strawberry & Cream (reminded me of strawberry oatmeal) Peaches & Cream (very peachy) Caramel (havent tried heard its great with iced decaf coffee) Chocolate (haven't tried) Vanilla (haven't tried heard it taste like a sugar cookie) I HATE protein shakes. I cannot stand the texture or the taste. These however, are very creamy, no grittiness or clumps. They taste like dessert and like I am cheating but I am not because both my doctor and nutritionist recommended it for me. I hIghly recommend from personal experience!!

    Any other April 2018 Sleevers?

They are definitely delicious!!! I'm doing the trial before surgery eating low carb high protein diet. 2 shakes a day, veggie, fruit, and protein. Almost completely cut out carbs. My surgery is April 18 and I'm not going to lie I feel like I'm not even on a diet with these things. I feel like I'm drinking dessert!!

    April/May 2018 Sleevers!!?

I agree 100%. Not trying to sound mean but I just want to make sure nobody is going to hurt themselves after surgery. We all want what is best for each other. The seminar's are great!! And I highly recommend reaching out. There are so many forums and even websites that will go over the diet for the surgery. Your doctor's are your friends with this surgery and I highly recommend following their advice. We're on a journey to change our lifestyles together.

    April/May 2018 Sleevers!!?

Ok, so here's the thing. You have posted about this before in many forums and have been given advice on how this is unhealthy after surgery. You post a lot in other forums all asking about ice cream. In reality, in order for this surgery to work you are going to have to change your lifestyle including exercise and eating habits that have caused you to be where you are today. Where are you in your journey? Are you just beginning, have you met with a few doctors and completed an initial evaluation, or are you close to surgery. Most of us have followed diets, exercise programs, and prescription medications for weight loss and this is our last option. Maybe you should try changing your eating habits before committing to such a surgery. The reason for this is because this surgery is just a tool. If you do not follow your doctor's advice on eating you can put your life in danger. At this rate it seems like milkshakes might lead to other unhealthy eating habits. If you break your post op diet you could tear stitches causing your stomach acid to leak into your body resulting in emergency surgery and possibly death. Is fast food really worth this? Like I said, many of us have been through many courses, regimens, clearances, labs, nutritional and exercise programs. This is not something we would be doing if we could do it on our own. If you have already been through some of the education in correspondence to this surgery then it is foolish for you to be contemplating taking these risks post op. There are so many people out there that would give anything to have this surgery but either cannot afford it or cannot get the insurance clearance. It is not right to take advantage and throw away the opportunity that you currently have. Also asking if you have to diet. This is obvious and should be common sense. No doctor would approve you if they knew you didn't plan to diet and live a healthy lifestyle after surgery. You will be right back in your weight situation if you do not change your lifestyle now. Please seek professional guidance and help for your questions before your put yourself at risk. No changes to your lifestyle, no body changes for you. That's a waste of money if you ask me!!
