World's Fastest Psychiatric Evaluation
mitchjoann132010 replied to elforman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was much more in depth. I had to have a consultation and 4 hours worth of multiple test, followed by a visit for clearance where he explained my clearance in depth and my personality. I also got an entire report which was scarily accurate and gave me chills on who I am. He took his time (3 months) waiting list for results and evaluates every person in depth and writes up a 10+ page report. He said my behavior is a perfectionist so I have a higher chance of success since I am so hard and strict on myself. -

I know and she ate so many carbs and sugar and was exercising though. She really did want to change just didn't have the education. -
I grew up pretty poor as well and completely understand that mindset. I am not quite post op yet, my surgery is on the 25th. I think from what I've learned is it is a lot of head hunger. I would keep a stocked freezer knowing that you have food accessible if you need it to put your mind at ease. Keeping protein balls (great ideas on Pinterest ) and string cheese available might help. They have great protein soups as well during the healing phase, and canned tuna during the soft food stage.

I thought the same thing! It was so raw seeing their struggle. I think they do not get as much education on types of foods needed. It seems they only get the advice at check ups. Otherwise I think Josephine would have been able to follow it and get surgery. I also learned from it how dire it is to follow the pre op diet. The one lady could barely be operated on due to her binging in the pre op. I cant believe someone would put their selves are risk like that. -

It's not clear so I cant have it. But I will have to look into it once I'm in the creamy liquid stage. Can I ask what brand is it? -
Any short sleevers?

Yess!!!!! I am 5 feet tall and currently 215 lbs. My BMI is 43 so yes I definitely more than qualify for the surgery. The reason people say this is because since they are taller, if they weighed what we do they would be at a lower BMI and closer to their goal. However, we still have the 80-90 lbs to lose as someone who is 5 feet tall has a normal BMI range of 94 lbs - 127 lbs. Can you imagine someone 5'6 at 94 lbs. They would look very ill. However, at our height it would be perfectly healthy. I have yet to understand why we lose slower. We are just as far from our healthy BMI as anyone else. Just because the scale shows lower does NOT mean we are at a healthy weight. We are morbidly obese. I know that weight loss will show a lot less on us. If someone 5'7 loses weight they have it more distributed on their body so they are more likely to have less inches on them. I don't know about you but I have a very short torso so 10-20 lbs even does not really reflect on me. I just don't have much room for the fat to be properly distributed! -

At this rate I could be a spokesperson for them I am such a fan. However, keep in mind I HATED protein drinks before finding these after 4 years of searching for one I could tolerate. -

I've stated on BariPal and swear by Premier Protein pre-made shakes. I cannot do powders as no matter how well it is blended I still feel the clumps and grittiness of it. Premier Protein pre made shakes have many flavors. Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry & Cream, Caramel, Banana & Cream, Peaches & Cream, and the best one Oreo & Cream. They are very cheap at either Sam's Club or Costco around $16.66 for a 12 pack at most. Other places they are really expensive. The nutrients are phenomenal. They are only 11 oz but contain 30g of protein!!! Also, only 1g of sugar, 160 calories, 5g of carbs, and 3g of fat. Not to mention 24 vitamins and minerals listed at bottom. They are creamier than ever and mix very well with decaf coffee. (Vitamin A, D, K, B6, B12, C, E, Calcium, Riboflavin, Pantothenic Acid, Iodine, Zinc, Copper, Chromium, Iron, Thiamin, Niacin, Folate, Biotin, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Selenium, Manganese, Molybdenum.) -

Looking forward to this forum and my husband is skinny and him and my friends are always asking me to eat and hang out. I might just take a couple bites of protein of their plates and be good. I can ask for a coloring sheet and colors to keep busy when everyone else is finishing their meals. -
Mine is April 25th and I started my Clear Liquid Diet (albeit Protein Shakes) 6 days ago. The first couple were Brutal due to detoxing. I had played around with doing it before. Now that I'm 6 days out I barely feel hunger, however I did get 118 oz of fluid in yesterday, 12 from black coffee, 32 from Powerade Zero, 22 from Premier Protein, and 5-16.9 bottles of water. All the fluid plus my vitamins and meeting my protein intake, make me not very hungry. Plus the more I drink the more water weight I lose. So excited your surgery is so close to mine!! Good luck on your journey. Keep us posted!!

Serious Overeating & Binging Problems Post Op
mitchjoann132010 replied to sleeveduk96's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Avoid all of the sugars and refined carbs. My doctor told me to eat protein first until I reach 60-80 grams. Then move on to veggies. Carbs are last on the list. If you get your protein in you will barely be able to fit anything else in. Instead of having all the carbs, do your protein, delicious examples are below: Steak Turkey Bacon Ham (high sodium however, moderate) ----mmm I love honey ham Brat (high sodium however, moderate) ----heck cheesy brats are even good Hot Dog (high sodium however, moderate) Ground Beef -----why not cook some ground beef, put a (little) bit of homemade spaghetti sauce using fresh and healthy produce, and skim milk cheese (voila a pasta-less spaghetti) Turkey Sausage Turkey in general Rotisserie Chicken Fish Shrimp Crab Lobster Eggs Protein Shakes Greek Yogurt String Cheese Almond Milk And so many more!!!!! Maybe its because I'm borderline anemic but I LOVEEE meat!!!!! Spoil yourself but in a good way!! Experiment like the deconstructed spaghetti idea. Make yourself a cauliflower crust pizza with loads of veggies and protein. Finding healthy recipes and learning some cooking skills can double as a healthy diet AND eliminating some of the boredom. Plus on your free time you can look up healthy recipes on Pinterest, more boredom gone out the window!!!! -

Anxiety and Surgery
mitchjoann132010 replied to mitchjoann132010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sunshineprincess I love this and you are right, it control's enough in our lives I will find myself a vision to focus on like my future self healthy and being able to run again. -
Okay, so I have VERY bad anxiety. I plan and plan and plan even small things like my grocery list. I have what my therapist says is OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder) and anxiety. I'm just wondering if there is anyone out there with anxiety as well and how you plan on handling your surgery day. Mine is at 7:15 am but start the process at 5:30 am so I'm not only going to be tired from the 2 hour car trip (3 am is not an optimal wake up time for me) but I am also not going to be in the happiest of moods. Therefore, positive thinking is out the window. I can try maybe breathing techniques. My anesthesiologist seems to completely disregard anxiety so I might have to point blank tell her to give me something that morning or I am going to make a run for it.

Way to go!!!!!!! I feel this pre op is very worth it. It gives us an idea of how it will be post surgery except we will not have the hunger then except head hunger, which we are learning to conquer now!!! Keep it up!!!!! Love how relatable your journey is to mine!!! -
At what point can you sit up or get out of bed without worrying..
mitchjoann132010 replied to Hurricane617's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please be up and moving. Blood clots and dehydration are the number 1 risk and potential fatal risks after surgery. You should be walking around at least 10 min every 1-2 hours to avoid a blood clot. They are no joke. -
Protein shakes get your protein in and double as fluid intake. I take Premier Protein 30g of protein in 11 oz. 1g of sugar 160 calories 5g carbs 3g fat. 2 shakes meets my daily protein intake and gives me at least 22oz of fluid.

Surprisingly on this clear liquid diet (exception of Protein Drinks) my 2 Premier Protein's a day are making me not hungry. I'm also getting way over 64 oz of liquids a day as well. I'm not even close to meeting enough calories but I am losing water weight and the scale is showing. As long as I am taking all of my vitamins and getting enough protein and water in I'm okay with the lower calories. It's going to be the same way after surgery. No matter how hard we try we're not really going to be able to come even close to our calories for the day at least in the beginning. As long as I'm on track with my vitamin/nutrient levels, not dehydrated, and keeping my muscle mass, while exercising daily. I call it a win!!! -
Thank you maybe it is the Crystal Light I mixed up with. I'm still not a fan of the artificial taste but my husband is love drinking it up for me.
