    Stretching Pouch?

    Thank you!

    Rate of Weight Loss

Thank you, I'm so scared of overeating and not being full. Solid foods are terrifying to me right now. I don't want to stretch my pouch out within a month. Right now I feel like liquids do not fill me up and pureed is a little better.

    Rate of Weight Loss

Orchids&Dragons Thank you so much! I didn't even consider the percentage of my body weight that I have lost. I'm hoping that my metabolism kicks in. I'm really scared right now. I'm measuring all of my food and just going to keep following the rules and hope that my weight loss progresses. I've read a lot on focusing on how my clothes fit. I've gotten a lot of comments from my coworkers that my scrubs are getting baggy and advice on where I can get them taken in. This was a great feeling. At 235 they were so tight. I'm hoping that I'm down at least a size. deltagirl93 It is so nice to see that this is normal. And you're right, any weight loss is a weight loss.
  4. I have absolutely no energy on this pre op diet. I can only have Protein Shakes, Water, Zero Calorie/Zero Sugar drinks/enhancers, Sugar Free Popsicles and Jello, and Low Sodium broths. I am meeting my daily protein goal, my daily water intake, and taking all my vitamins. Somebody mentioned iron and I called my surgeon's office and they said there is no need to take iron right now and that they will check those levels 3 months out. I'm just worried because my iron runs low and I am exhausted, dizzy, and weak all the time. I have 5 more days to go on this clear liquid diet. My hunger really isn't even an issue, the water and protein keep me at bay (most) of the time. Does anybody have any other suggestions? Thank you!

    Relationship changes

My husband and I are high school sweethearts and have been together 8.5 years. He has been there from my skinny high school cheerleading days all the way up to the 235 highest weight on my 5 foot frame. He is very skinny at 5'11 and 155 lbs. He eats whatever he wants and has a hard time putting on weight. He has gone to every single appointment with me over the past 10 months which has been over 35 4 hour round-trips so far and he has taken off for my appointments post op as well. He is also taking a 2 week vacation to care for me during my healing after surgery which I will greatly need dealing with our 11 month 80 lb lab. Although he tells me all the time that I do not need the surgery and hold my weight well proportioned (he's just being a good husband) he has supported me through the entire process. I think this is because we have had long talks and he knows my goal is to run 5-10 miles again 5 days a week like I did in high school. I loved running and the mental break it gave me from my anxiety. I am on day 13 of my clear liquid pre-op diet (surgery is in 2 days) and he eats before he comes home and only says he has to make a "stop" so he doesn't rub in my face what he is eating. Therefore, he is done eating before he comes home. He waits until I'm out of the room before eating anything else as well. I have never asked him to do this, he just does out of a sign of support. He has also rallied all of my loved ones that know (not that many I do not want the whole world to know my business) and they are all doing the same thing. I cannot believe the amount of support I have received from him and my loved ones. It makes this whole journey seem a lot less lonely.

There is also Peaches and Cream and Banana and Cream. The Strawberry and Cream I do not like so much. The Oreo and Cream is DELICIOUS!

    No Energy, Pre Op Diet

Thank you so much AshAsh1. That is a great way to look at this. I'm on day 13 right now and it is almost over. I honestly believe what you said. After surgery the liquid diet is going to be pretty normal still. The only difference is I will be able to add creamy liquids. That will be a nice reprieve and a step up. Hard to say but giving myself something to look forward to like creamy liquids, really changes my perspective on things. I guess we are starting from the bottom moving up. I much rather have the head hunger and crying now than have those urges after the surgery when I'd be at more of a risk. Thank you for this pick-me-up. It was exactly what I needed! Plus if we can make it through this we can pretty much make it through most anything.

CALLING ALL 2 WEEK PRE-OP DIETERS.

Mine is a 2 week all Clear Liquid Diet. I'm only allowed Protein Shakes, Broth, Sugar Free Popsicles, and Jello. I'd give anything to be able to have 1 small healthy meal a day or at the very least cream liquids like soups and pudding.... Luckily I'm on day 13 today and Surgery is Wednesday. As for the BMI mine is only 40.8 so we can round up to 41. BMI of 40 is needed for surgery with no comorbidities. 35 if you have 2 or more comorbidities. So I'm almost positive its not BMI related since my surgeon makes Everyone do the diet! Plus from what I've seen almost everyone on here as to do some form of a diet.
  10. Have you considered Almond or Soy Milk?

    No Energy, Pre Op Diet

It has been a crazy ride. I am on Day 13 right now. Even though the scale is dropping about a pound a day, I am going crazy. I am moody, crying randomly, I just want something to chew! Clear liquids are insane. I am limited to broth, sf popsicles, sf jello and that is it. Aside from my protein shakes which are making me want to vomit after drinking them so much. I hear of people that are allowed 1 meal a day or those with only a 2 day liquid diet and it makes me want to cry because mine. is. so. strict. 1 more day is my mantra. I find it easier at work because I have no time to focus but when at home, no matter how much cleaning, running on treadmill, walking my dog, I am just so hungry. I'd give anything for a carrot at this point.

2 Week Pre Op Liquid Diet

I think that could definitely be it. My iron runs really low so I might just take 1 more iron supplement while being careful not to overdose on it and damage my liver! I think that might definitely be the cause! Thank you!!!
  16. I had no idea how difficult this pre op liquid diet would be. I've read countless articles and stories and thought to myself that since I had been diligently dieting all the way up to surgery (past 10 months) that I would be able to do this no sweat. I.Was.So.Wrong. I have not cheated and will not due to my fear of compromising surgery. I started on Wednesday 04/11/2018 and have to go all the way until my surgery on Wednesday 04/25/2018. I am so sick of sugar free popsicles, sf jello, and chicken broth. I limit my chicken broth to not go above my sodium intake each day however, with these 3 options I am to the point of just not really eating and mostly just drinking water. I can get maybe 1 Premier Protein shake in a day since I am so tired of shakes already. I feel foggy, sometimes lightheaded, and weak even though I am still religiously taking my vitamins all of them recommended by my doctor. Does anybody else know of any other items I can add to my CLEAR 2 week liquid diet? I cannot have sugar and it has to be clear. Thanks Guys!

Any Netflix or Hulu Shows of Bariatric Life or WLS?

Some of these shows I just could not watch. Too much food in them. I think it's just harder to watch them right now due to me being 9 days in on the pre op clear liquid diet. Feels like I could chew my arm off watching some of these.
  20. That is a unique situation lol, you were very diligent in that situation, I probably would have blurted out (politely) if this was for the surgery so I could take notes.

2 Week Pre Op Liquid Diet

Bone broth sounds really good, I will have to give it a try. So an update: Day 9 of only clear liquids (protein shakes, water, powerade zero, sugar free popsicles and jello) I am taking all of my vitamins and drinking at least 60g of protein daily while consuming at least 64 oz of fluids a day. I'm not sure if it's because of "that particular week" sorry, TMI, but I am feeling weak and dizzy. I'm not even hungry so much. Sometimes I feel I could eat an entire tub of cottage cheese, mushrooms, olives, etc. (Note: I HATE ALL THAT STUFF) but I'd be willing to eat it. But it's not so much the hunger like I said. It mostly comes and goes and is mostly head hunger whenever I see something pop up on screen. Okay, some of it is actual hunger. But I have no clue why I am so dizzy and weak. If I am taking all my vitamins, protein, and water, why am I still so weak?

    Powerade Zero

I'm not a big fan of the fruit punch. Right now I only really like the grape and mixed berry. I have not tried the orange yet and I will have to find the strawberry to test it. I'm just not a fan of fruit punch at all. It taste too much like cherry, which reminds me of cough syrup!

Serious Overeating & Binging Problems Post Op

I love the positivity of this forum. Many people would look at this situation and be upset/angry but we are all struggling. We are here as a BariPal family and we are all here for you. You are not alone. Just because all of our struggles are different does not mean that we all do not have them. Do not hold yourself to the standard of thinking that you are somehow failing, you are human! Please know that each and every day is different. Just because yesterday wasn't good does not mean that you can't make a change today. It starts with little things. You do not need to go out and shop for a whole new set of groceries. Why not make yourself a mini hamburger wrapped in lettuce minus all the dressings. Tweak it. Who knows you might be inspired to post your own new recipes, all of us are looking for something healthy and delicious. Your first step has been made, you reached out for help. This is not just a physical change but an emotional one as well. Every time I see a commercial of food or see someone eating, I take a walk out of that vicinity and drink water. Granted I'm day 9 of my clear liquid pre op diet and feel I could chew my arm off but it works for me. Ask your loved ones to please not eat around you or to warn you first so that you can remove yourself from that area. My husband is skinny so never has to worry about his weight but he will text me before he heads home that he has to make a "stop" for something, aka food, without rubbing it in my face, and then he will eat it before he comes home. My close knit loved ones do as well and if they see someone starting to tempt me they mention it to that person or go for a walk with me. You might just be able to help your family make a change as well. Instead of bonding over food, learn to talk and enjoy each other's company or go for a walk together. Reach out if you have any questions, we are ALL here for you!!!!
