  1. Hi everyone, need a little help here. I am currently 8 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I have been suffering with SEVERE nausea (but not vomitting) since I was 5 + 6 - its not just in the morning, its ALL day long. On top of that, nothing sounds good, I have no appetite, and I've lost 3 lbs. I often find myself feeling full, and after not eating hardly anything all day, I start eating and I'm full really quickly. I'm having trouble establishing if this is band related, or related to my "morning sickness" I'm not having trouble getting foods past my band...not getting stuck or PBing or anything...any thoughts?

    Pregnant & Constantly Nauseated

I am 8 + 1 and I am also dealing with this. I was wondering if it might have anything to do with the band...but its not too tight right now. I have only vomitted once and that was because I got a pill stuck and it made me queasy...but the nausea is all day every day and I am so hoping it stops soon. Its sucking the life out of me...I am so happy and so grateful to be pregnant but this is really hard.

    Don't know where to start

When I need to get the scale moving again I go on the plateau buster's diet - which is basically just going back to the lapband "rules". Protein, veggies, then carbs. I started back on it on Monday after some weight gain (8 lbs) and I've already lost 4 lbs. If you'd like I can send you the guidelines.
  4. Alot of surgeon's are priming bands before they put them in patients now. Do you know if your band came pre-filled with any saline? I know people who's bands were primed with as much as 3 cc when they were placed. Perhaps yours was primed and the amount is too much for you. I've experienced reflux but only as a result of being too tight, not of being irritated. Good luck!
  5. Hello...I live in Syracuse and was banded back in April. How's it going?

  9. I'm by no means, a pro at this, but I'm willing to be buddies with someone! We can motivate each other and continue on this crazy band journey together!! I am just about 5 and a half months out and I have lost 55 lbs so far since surgery, total of 70 lbs overall including pre-op diet. I have a standard 10 cc band and I've had 3 fills with a total of 4.5 ccs in right now. I have not reached my sweet spot, but hoping I get some better restriction soon!
  10. I don't have money for a gym membership either. These are some of the ways I get in exercise: - Walk outside 30-60 minutes - Ride my bike outside 30 -60 minutes - Walk on my treadmill - Pop my Biggest Loser DVD into the DVD player - Use my exercise ball for strength training - Use my 5 lb weights for strength training Exercise isn't always fun, the trick is finding something you can do on a regular basis. Good luck to you!
  11. Awesome job! Congrats to you!
  12. Hi there! A couple of us in the Syracuse area are looking to connect with other bandsters in the area. As of right now there are no Band-Only support groups that aren't connected to a specific hospital. I was banded in April at Highland Hospital in Rochester, but I live and work in Syracuse so I cannot attend the support meetings associated with the hospital. There are tons of RNY or Mixed groups in the area but I've found in attending these open groups that I am the only bandster that attends them which isn't much support for me. We would like to see a band-only group so we can lend each other some much needed support. There is a band-only group in Ithaca but that is much too much of a drive from Syracuse. Please email me at Braven05@yahoo.com if you're interested in seeing a Syracuse band group formed!! Thanks :-)
  13. I poster earlier on this thread at 2 1/2 weeks out and I had lost 20 lbs. I am now 7 weeks out and have lost a total of 32 lbs. With my pre-op diet I'm at a 49 lb loss since December. :biggrin2:
  14. Numbrgirl--Its been kinda of slow but steady loss since surgery. I've just been really good about keeping my calories between 1000-1200 each day and eating my protein first, veggies second, carbs last, and I've been exercising (walking) regularly. I haven't even had a fill yet. I'm hoping I will only need a couple of fills total, since I'm 7 weeks out and just NOW experiencing hunger and the ability to eat more in the evenings. Good luck to you!
  15. 1. I've lost 32 lbs in 7 weeks--putting me under 300 lbs for the first time in 8-10 years!! 2. I can eat a little bit and feel full, I've never experienced that before 3. I just don't care about food that much anymore. At only 7 weeks out this surgery has helped me to change my unhealthy relationship with food from living to eat to eating to live! So far...I LOVE MY BAND :biggrin2:

    Swedish Fish???

Ohhhhhhh....LOVE swedish fish....but definitely terrified of getting stuck. Haven't had a problem yet in my 5 weeks since being banded and not looking to go there anytime soon...but man...do I love swedish fish :cursing:
  17. Once I was allowed to do full liquids I did cream of mushroom soup, but I strained out the pieces of mushrooms. I'm 4 weeks post-op and I haven't had cream of broccoli soup because my nutritionist says stay away from broccoli for another month at least because its so fibrous. I would love a nice bowl of cheddar broccoli soup, but I haven't wanted to go there in case I had trouble with it. I would definitely do cream of potato (you can make your own real easy!!!) and cream of mushroom soup (strained).
  18. Keep in mind that a side effect of anesthesia is depression. Most people experience a bit of emotional-ness after surgery (I still am 2 1/2 weeks out) and others are affected more profoundly with actually depression for awhile. Add to that the fact that you're craving certain foods, your body is still getting over the shock of surgery, and you're probably comsuing 1/3 of the calories that you're used to, and you're bound to be regretting this a little bit! Add your daily stresses and family/life/social circumstances and basically you're a mess. But it will get better. You will get through liquids and move on to mushies (contact me for an awesome crustless quiche recipe) and you will be craving some things you never expected to be craving, like meat, but you'll get through that to and things will be ok. We did this because we couldn't control ourselves. In the long run we'll be thankful for this new tool helping us where we couldn't help ourselves.
  19. 10 days out at my post-op appointment I was graduated to mushies. Still there, counting down the days until I can have some MEAT. Man, of all the things to miss!
  20. I was not weighed the morning of surgery. They took my pre-op testing weight as the last documented weight. I was a little nervous about it too, but I didn't have to get near a scale.
  21. Hi all! I was banded 4/2/08 (2 1/2 weeks ago) and since surgery have lost a total of 20 lbs. With pre-op diet that brings my total to 37 lbs!! I'm very happy with this result, my progress has stalled a little bit but I'm not stressing about it one bit.
  22. I was banded on April 2 (last wednesday). Everything went smoothly, I spent the night in the hospital and was released Thursday morning. I haven't had too much pain and initially I didn't have much of an appetite so I wasn't eating much. Gradually I was able to increase what I could get in, but the past 3 days I've been feeling really full all day long on almost nothing. Today I woke up and drank a few sips of water and then tried some yogurt and felt like I couldn't get it in then I had a sugar free popsicle and later tried a carnation instant breakfast. Couldn't get much in. Now I'm working on a protein water. I probably won't be able to get in much more today. I'm consumming so little I'm dropping weight like crazy. I'm hoping this is just due to swelling and it will go away soon. At this point I couldn't handle anything other than liquids and its making it hard to imagine ever eating solid foods again if I'm full on protein shakes.

    Tomorrow is the day!

Good luck!!! I was banded Wednesday of last week and I couldn't have hoped for anything to go better than it did! No too much pain, I'm back to work today and only feeling a little run-down. I'm getting food in without nausea or anything. You'll do fine! Good luck tomorrow!!
