I've been watching a LOT of YouTube videos from people who have had the VSG surgery as well as bariatric surgeons. It's cool to watch and see people's transformation over a period of months. Right now I'm especially interested in the videos from people who post their experiences during their surgery and first week post op, since I'll be having VSG on Jan. 11th. Just curious, what are some of your favorite YouTube VSG channels? I've learned a lot from a couple of the bariatric surgeons channels - one is Dr. Mathew Weiner and the other is Blossom Bariatrics from Las Vegas; their dietician has some really good videos.

So...it's been a while since I posted but thought I would share a before and after. I'm down a little over 60 lbs. Feeling great and have even joined my local tennis league which is a sport I loved growing up but had trouble playing when I was over weight. Fyi, the Before picture is from my daughters wedding (I had a heart attack a month later) and the after was just last week after buying a new suit....from the regular section, NOT big and tall! Lol. Woke up this morning and did my daily weigh-in and was excited (and relieved) to finally be under 200lbs! I've been bouncing around the 200 mark for over a week. Weight is now 199.6...just barely in there, but I'll take it! lol. Getting below 200 was my first major goal since having surgery on Jan. 11 (down from 243 day of surgery). I've also gone from a 38-40 in pants size, down to a 34 inch waist. Really glad I had this surgery!

Thanks! Good luck AshAsh1, you'll get there...great progress so far!

Has anyone tried the Tespo vitamin system?
VSGnewguy replied to AllyJonesVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've had mine for about 5 months and I have to say, I'm over the novelty of it. In the morning I'm usually in a hurry to get to work and about 1/3 of the time, the Tespo won't dispense the vitamins. Sometimes just opening and closing the lid (sort of have to slam it), gets it to clear and start working but most of the time I have to take out the disc and put it back in again and then it will usually work. I clean it regularly so not sure why it does that. I tolerated the quirkiness at first but I've grown tired of it now. I think I'm going to use up the Tespo vitamins I currently have and then switch over to a regular pill...quick and easy. -
Anyone else scheduled for January 2018? I have my surgery scheduled for January 11. I'm having to wait until next year because I had a stent put in back in December 2016. The anesthesiologist won't sign off until I have had the stent for at least a year and am able to come off of Plavix for the surgery.

When do sleevers go back to work?
VSGnewguy replied to Jrob66's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a job that has the potential on any given day to be very physical so I took off 3 weeks. I was glad to have the time, not just to recover but also to get into my new routine. One week would have been too soon for me. -
Vision Changes After Surgery? Temporary?

Did you get the scapolamine patch behind your ear. I think it causes blurred vision. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app -
Strange "out of it" feeling

Sounds like a symptom of a panic attack..."A feeling of being detached from the world (de-realization)" Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app -
I work in a chem plant and can also have a demanding work schedule. I took 3 weeks off work and was glad I did. When I got back it was a challenge getting in water and food on any type of routine. I just make sure I always have a bottle of water with me and sip as I go. For meals, I just make sure to eat a little something when I get a break. I'm almost 7 weeks post op now and it's getting easier each week as I'm able to eat more. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app

Please help - very sick
VSGnewguy replied to penguin83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to call your surgeon. -
So, I had my 6 week check in today and all is well. Weight loss is on track...27 lbs down. I do need to increase my calories. I've been around a thousand and the doctor and dietician would like to see me at 1200-1500, particularly before I start going to the gym. While I was there, I asked how long I needed to wait before I could have a glass of wine. I expected to hear 6 months to a year based on what others have posted. I was surprised when the dietician said that I could have started a couple weeks ago! Of course they gave the usual caveats...empty calories and take it slow to see how I react. Just thought I'd share since I know that question comes up a lot

Alcohol allowed at 4 weeks...
VSGnewguy replied to VSGnewguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks. I'm not a big drinker but do enjoy an ocassional glass of wine. Nice to have the option anyway. -
Just 5 hot wings & I’m stuffed! I love it!!
VSGnewguy replied to Seahawks Fan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the same number of wings and was so full, I realized I should have stopped at 4. Lol. -
Dr. Weiner recommends them to his patients.

I have BCBS IL and they covered most of my costs. However, I already had a cardiologist so I have just paid the copays. Where I did go out of pocket, for my surgeon, is for the lifetime nutritional counseling. Your surgeon's office should give you a break down of all the expenses and what you will be responsible for.

I'm 18 days post-op and only ocassionaly feel hungry but, of course, it takes very little to feel full again.

Thinking About Gastric Sleeve
VSGnewguy replied to AstroCat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Everyone has these doubts and the overwhelming majority end up saying they wish they'd done it sooner. In my case, I considered the surgery but didn't do it, then had a heart attack later that year. Now I'm happily just st over two weeks post op. Best advice is to go to the seminar and ask all your questions and make the decision that's best for your long term health. -
I will be going back after 3 weeks and have a job that is sometimes physically demanding.

How long were you off work post-op?
VSGnewguy replied to tuckersmom's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'll have been off three weeks when I go back but my job, is at times, physically demanding so I didn't want to rush back too soon. -
