    Lap Band vs Sleeve

Hi , I had the lap band put on several years ago . I lost almost 100 pounds with it but it definitely came at a cost . I would throw up ALL the time , literally having to leave the table ... sometimes 3 times a day or more . They would fill it then un fill it ... I couldn't eat certain foods because they would get stuck and hurt really bad ,( which I know is common) but what ultimately happened was it just stoped working and slipped. I slowly started to gain the weight back . It took a few years it was slow but nothing I tried worked . I seriously tried every diet out there. I eventually regained about 60 pounds . I was miserable. I didn't want to do the sleeve I fought my dr for a year looking at every other option . But finally gave in because I was tired of being fat and unhealthy. Before I was on zero medication but after gaining the weight I was becoming pre diabetic and starting to have other issues. I had the sleeve surgery a few months ago . The first week was tough and it takes some getting used to . I still have head hunger but I am only able to eat a little food and it's really great . I am loosing weight again but it's very slow . Yes this is permanent but that's what I truly needed a permanent life long healthy option . I do believe the band is outdated... there are so many issues with it that can happen at anytime. Mine worked for years and I was lucky but it easily could of slipped much sooner . I hope this helps in some small way , everyone is different and has different experiences but if I had to do it over again I would have just gone with the sleeve surgery the first time .

    5 days Post Op

I am just 2 weeks post op and I also have no problem at all with liquids. It's crazy because with my band I couldn't really drink a lot of water but now with my sleeve I drink a ton of water . My Nutriontlist doesn't believe me and keeps telling me to sip slowly or I will stretch my stomach ?? But I am not sure that's true . The downside is I haven't lost much weight yet but I am doing everything they tell me .
  3. Thanks , today I spoke with my Nutritionist and told her I was easily drinking water and she has me worried now I am going to stretch my sleeve? She said I should be taking small sips but the liquids go down very easy already . I am just wondering if because of the band I have less feeling ? But I am being optimistic, it's still so new and I am so excited for this journey . I definitely have less hunger .

    Just been Sleeved

I called my dr he told me to take liquid Tylenol. I think my incisions are ok ? My fever is down and I feel better today , but that was scary.

    Just been Sleeved

Tommorow will be one week out and I too can take large sips . I am not having any issues getting water down ? All liquids go down very easy , I can drink a liter of water in 15 min . I starting to get a little worried.
  6. Hi . I am 5 days post op from having my band removed and getting the sleeve . My band was also too tight but it was easy because I could eat whatever I wanted then just get rid of it at times . Not a good habit ... but it could always be adjusted. I am nervous because the sleeve is permanent and I want to eat and drink and be social .
