Buddies Group - Surgery Dec 4 to 15, 2017

I know! I’m just trying to keep in mind that someone was cutting us up only 2 days ago, so this really isn’t that bad! Breathing through the spasms and stuck feeling really helped me vs the tensing up. And knowing it will only last a few seconds. Hang in there. -

It’s CO2 gas pain, so not sure if gas meds help. I found a good combo of heating pad on my neck/shoulder and ice pack on my tummy helped a lot. Make sure they give you the nausea patch AND the Zofran - I’ve not felt a moment of nausea which is a relief. They also ended up giving me something for esophogus spasms so if you end up in that spot there is something for you! Just be really specific about any pain and not assume it’s part of the process because they might be able to help. Good luck! You’ll do great. -

Sleeved on 12/19 and even after 3 days of broth and water - no weight loss. It’s like a magic trick! The gas pain is excruciating and swallowing is really rough. But I have my sippy cup full of mint tea ready to tackle my 64 today. Kinda makes you miss the IV! -
Sleeve Buddy need - Surgery date 12/4

Ambitious question - I am stuck in NY for the holidays, and not able to go home to CA. I want to maybe see some plays and make good use of winter in NY, but am hesitant to expend the $$ if I won't feel up to it. For those recently sleeved, a week in, how viable is it to sit for 2-3 hours in a play? -

That was totally true for me! You really lose your hunger. -

I hear you! broth and shakes were making me so weak I wasn't hungry if that makes sense? I was coming in between 6oo-800 calories/day. The nutritionist relented and allowed me some lean meat which has been a game changer! -

Hi Sunbunny! I’m 32/295/5’7 - is A/W/H the new A/S/L? [emoji68][emoji335] I’m getting the sleeve 12/19 and definitely looking for a pal in this process as well. How has the liquid diet been going for you? Are you pumped for next week? JW -

I’ve not heard of Generopro, but it sounds versatile! I’ve stocked up on Less Naked Whey, fuel for fire pouches, and tropical fruit smash packs - all of which I really like. I also purchased Gelatein protein jello, and muscle milk pro which are pretty gnarly tasting but I hope to acquire a taste for [emoji51] -

I am also Dec 19th sleever and I have no idea what I am doing! I’ve really not made any modifications or sacrifices so far and feel weird that the strict liquid diet starts in 4 Days. It was such a long wait but now seems so sudden! -
So helpful everyone! Thank you. Any other tips on going back to work that helped you?

I've never posted to any online forum ever, so this feels weird! I am approaching medically supervised weight loss visit number six, with all of my duck in a row towards submitting to insurance so I'm starting to think logistics. For those of you who have desk job that is very focus and analytical thinking heavy, how much time did you or would you recommend taking off work? I was recently promoted, have a direct report to manage, and no one else can do my job at my current company, so my absence would be very noticeable. I'm considering doing a combination of PTO and WFH, but want to understand where I will be physically and mentally. Also, how did you tell your boss??

In Manhattan, pre-op but insurance submission coming soon!
