Hello there, I need some support here in making the decision to move forward with this. I am 33, so I guess this is a good time to start making a change, I'm impressed with the different age groups I see here. My current weight is 140kg, that's 308lbs, and I am 5 ft 8 inches male I have tried to lose weight all my life, I was an obese child all through my adulthood. The best I did was lose about 75lbs by working out and spending a ton of cash on fat burners and supplements. My whole life and personality is about being a big guy, whether it be fat or hulky, but big and intimidating is me, while being funny and sarcastic and a teddy bear on the inside, a care bear. Why do I want to lose weight? Health issues I guess? Diabetes runs in my family, but mostly I hate how I look, can't dress well, can't buy any clothes. The only thing stopping me from making the right choice is that I don't know who I'm going to become, yes I will look better, but I won't know who I am, I've always been like this, my big body is my comfort zone that I hate. Hello there, First time here, was just wondering about how to fund all of this, any advice? I have made the decision, seen my doctor, he has an open schedule slot in about 5 weeks, but it will cost me $3000 and my insurance won't cover it, as it is not considered an ailment to be overweight where I live. Has anybody tried alternate funding options? Does it work? I tried asking the bank but I'm already stretched. I'm 33 and at 400+ pounds, I really want to get my life back on track. Edit: Can I just add that my wife is already scheduled for hers, I chose for her to go first because I have always been obese, she hasn't, and nothing would make me happier than to see her get better, we used all of our savings on her operation, and now if I start saving up, it will probably take me a couple of years, and with the current numbers, I'm not even sure our marriage will survive me being the obese partner. I'm just thinking aloud here.

I haven't had my bypass yet but I had my gallbladder removed last year, similar incisions, and it felt okay to sleep on the incisions and go back to work on the second week mark

So about drinking, what should one be drinking post op if I wanted a good buzz?
