  1. Hi Gabbee, You are doing all the right things! Will you likely be able to eat some of the food the hotel provides - yes. But better safe. I just got back from a work trip. I was approximately 2 months out from my surgery. I requested a fridge and brought along shakes, yogurt, cheese, and the like. For my breakfast at the hotel I just brought my own yogurt downstairs and then got an egg from the buffet. People didn't question it. The last thing you want when traveling for a work conference is to feel miserable. If nothing looks good/appetizing, then you can always have a shake in your room later. Best of luck!

    Coffee?

I'm 7 or 8 weeks out and drink coffee. Just 1 cup of coffee with almond milk and a scoop of coffee flavored protein powder. It's worked out fine.
  3. All of the responses on this thread are very good. I'm new to all of this and am using this workbook. Thought I'd share incase interested. Good luck Pinky! https://www.amazon.com/Weight-Loss-Surgery-Coping-Companion/dp/1508526087/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501084012&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=coping+bariatric+workbook

Day 6 Post Op -Low energy?

Hi Pudding, I had a lot of the same feelings after surgery, but it sounds like your nausea is pretty severe. Totally agree with Johnny - call your surgeon. They are there for you and can make recommendations. Best of luck! You're doing awesome!

Day 6 Post Op -Low energy?

Snapy, I had the same experiences and it's so, so normal. I'm out 6 weeks now and the weakness is much better. I still have fatigue, but my surgeon said the same thing as Marie's... it can take a few months for some.

    First Appointment Tomorrow!

My surgeons kept saying - everyone is different - you'll just have to wait and see. But for me... I work in education (administration) and went back PART-TIME after two weeks. It was tough. I wish I had done another full week home. The surgery is no joke - but the postop diet is the hard part. I was not in pain, but had no energy. I would suggest getting a sub - just in case.

Bypass for less than 100 lbs

Hi Barbara, New here and just reading through some of the forums. I did not struggle with GERD pre-surgery, but I can speak to the amount of weightloss issue. With RNY your surgeon will decide how much of your small intestine to bypass. They bypass more if you have more to lose. (So in my case they bypassed as much as they felt comfortable with.) If you share you concern of losing too much weight with your surgeon, then he/she can better explain the bypass process and their intentions on bypass length. Best of luck!

    INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

Hi Lillie Lou, How awful! It sounds to me like several of the veterans above have the right idea. I'll be thinking of you and wish you the best of luck!

    Not having success (pre op)

Hi Ladybug! I just joined, so not sure if you decided to continue with surgery as planned. Just wanted you to know you're not alone and that I struggled to lose the amount my team requested during my 6 mo. wait. A therapist is so, so important! (Before and after surgery.) You should be able to find someone that specializes in working with bariatric surgery patients as well as anxiety/depression. If you are taking psychotropic meds make sure you are also seeing a psychiatrist - they can help manage the potential medication transitions after surgery. (Primary care physicians don't always have enough experience with psych meds.) I'm still working to get my meds right - but everyday I feel a little better. Thinking of you and hoping for confidence and success as you move through this process! You can do it!
