  1. Congrats to you! I think I might be in the midst of a long stall. I am concerned that I've stopped losing weight too. Your post gives me hope!
  2. So I'm down 58 pounds and have been hovering around 180-182 for about the past month. Time to step up the exercise? It has been super cold here (I live in the northern part of Illinois) and hard to get out and move around much. Tossing around the idea of a treadmill for the home. I am down to a comfortable size 12-14 and have been able to wear size Medium in other things. I sleep better, have a TON more energy, feel more beautiful, strong and healthy than ever. Still haven't eaten any pasta or bread or rice yet. I did eat some sweets at my son's wedding, but I had planned that and I haven't done it since. I am so glad I had this surgery. I do feel like it was the best decision I have made in a LONG time. Thank you...all of you July sleevers...for your support. I appreciate you all more than you know!
  3. So, I'm down to a size 14 (used to wear 1x and 2x). Almost 50 pounds lost (48.4). I LOVE my new size. I'm so proud of ALL of us July sleevers! I am eating regular foods for the most part but avoiding bread, rice, pasta, popcorn, etc. Low carb, high protein, lower fat and sugar foods. I have become addicted to sugar free 15 calorie popsicles - I can eat a couple of them in the evening and it even counts toward my liquids for the day! Thanks to everyone for you support. Question - how many times do you all eat per day? It seems like I get hungry (not really hungry, just feel like my stomach is empty, if that makes any sense) about every 3-4 hours.
  4. I had my surgery on the 17th of July. I'm down 42 pounds today and feel so much better. Clothes are more fun to try on and I'm loving my smaller size. Eating more variety, still trying to get in all my protein and water...having a tough time. I used to LOVE water but I just don't like it now. So hard to drink it plain, so I flavor it once in a while with lemon. Hope you are all doing well. What are you all eating these days? How much exercise are you getting? I'm counting steps with my new fitbit but nothing too intense yet. But I feel like I might be ready to do more.
  5. I had a stall for 9 days around week 3. Others say that this is very common. I just continued doing what I was supposed to do and the stall finally ended. I think for many of us, the weight loss slows/stalls around the 3 week mark. You will get past this!

    July 2017 Sleevers

Hi everyone! I am in a pretty discouraged place right now...feeling like I'm doing something wrong. I started this journey at 234 - although my highest weight was 238. After surgery, that first week I lost 13 pounds. Since my week follow up appointment on 7/25, I have only lost 5 pounds. I've stayed at 215 for about 2 weeks now and I'm not sure how it's even mathematically possible to NOT lose weight with the way I have been eating. I'm drinking water, protein drinks, eating soft foods and staying away from carbs and sweets. Can someone please help me understand why the scale isn't budging? I know stalls happen, but I guess I don't really understand how or why they last so long. Is there something I can do to help with this stall or do I just have to wait it out? I began to take my measurements just to have another way to gauge progress and I'm hoping that will help.
  7. I had my surgery on the 17th. I'm down 20 pounds today...clothes are definitely fitting better, but I still wear the same size. I am on pureed foods. I'm feeling good, post surgery pain is gone, incisions are healed. I experienced a stall a few days ago for 3 days...but was able to keep my head in the game. I'm determined to have success with this. When did you all start to exercise regularly and what did you start to do? Walking only? I still tire easily and don't feel great when I overdo it. Thankful for this forum and for all of you!

Coyote, Thanks so much for your response and also your post. I too, live with a wonderful man who is a food lover. It's one of the things he and I talked about before my surgery. Everything was so food-centric between us. And now it's not. He grilled a steak the other night and it smelled so good. But, with the support of my friends and these groups, I have a place to go to vent. Prior to surgery, I also made a promise to myself that if I started struggling emotionally (I have depression) I would go back to my counselor. That's always in my back pocket as an option. I think we underestimate the effect of this physical change on our emotional selves. I know I did. Have you tried journaling? I just got a great new journal and am starting to log all of my thoughts and feelings, in addition to my intake and my activity. Best of luck to you!

    July 17th

Hi everyone, Lost 13 lbs first week and now I'm experiencing a stall. I thought it was a little early for that, but I'm trying to stay positive. Anyway, just checking in to see how you all mentally and emotionally handle it when the scale doesn't move. Especially when it's only been a week. Thanks for whatever encouragement you can give!

    July 17th

I had my sleeve surgery on July 17. Home 2 days later (Wednesday). Been on clear liquids most of the week and was able yesterday to advance to my premier protein drinks (I got one down) per the doctor's recommendation. Best to all of you fellow July surgery folks!

    Hunger pains?

I've been having those pains too. My surgery was on Monday. I don't think it is hunger...although it does feel like that sometimes. I think I am having stomach spasms. My good friend (who had the surgery a year ago) said her doctor told her that it is part of the healing process for the stomach. Apparently when the stomach is injured, spasming can result. Hope this helps. If you find out anything about it let me know! Good luck!
