Non Liquid Pre-Op Diet?
Nancy MBGC replied to amb052492's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon used to ask for a two week liquid diet, but thankfully he changed it recently to a low calorie low carb diet. I suspect this was because some people were probably having a hard time going two weeks without food. Sounds like something more achievable with the sleeve in. Carb withdrawal is real, but it's only two weeks. It's mostly headaches. Snacks? Turkey and cheese roll ups with dill pickles and mustard. Beef jerky. Peanuts but go easy on them. Lettuce burgers and tuna fish or chicken salad. Meat Meat Meat. Eggs. Low carb veggies squash, broccoli, salads without onions or tomatoes. Carrots NO. Look up Atkins diet the first two weeks. That'll do it. -
I guess they would rather I just swallow the capsules then have the applesauce.

Yes mine is set for Oct 17 at 8am. Excited and apprehensive.

The Good The Bad & The Nasty

Can anyone tell me what company makes these bars? I can't find them in Bariatric Pal Store. -
I know bread is a carb, but does anyone ever enjoy a piece of toast?

I think that everyone needs to spend more time on themselves and what us best for them and not be so worried about how their significant other is going to be affected. Let me tell you what I KNOW to be true. If this person really cares about you, they will support your betterment and happiness. If this isn't the case, move on to a better partner.

Where did you buy the cookie? -
Go see your nutritionist.

What happened to our hunger not being there after the procedure? I sure see a lot of hungry people on this forum.
-
They are jealous. You look GREAT

I figured that the applesauce would not be ok the day after my surgery.
-
Nope. They are time released and can only be taken without capsule in a thickened substance like applesauce.

My insurance took 2 weeks to respond! -
Surgery yesterday -- what have I done?
Nancy MBGC replied to Aginn10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr said it's one night for sleeve and 2 nights for bypass. -
Could it be the pain from where the breathing tube was in surgery? That lasts for awhile

I've never see anyone in recovery room that didn't get post op pain meds. Just say'n. -
My surgeon told me to get the sleeve instead of the bypass. He said that you can avoid the frequent dumping syndrome and that in his practice that sleevers lose weight at the same rate as gastrics.

April 2017 sleevers how's it going?

I know about ketosis. It's the hallmark of the Adkins Diet. You can buy some strips at your pharmacy that will tell you if you are in Ketosis. It comes from either eating no carbs or very few. It's good for fat burning and losing weight. It can cause bad breath. Might want to try to eat a few more carbs as it doesn't take much to throw you out of ketosis and you can still lose weight without bad breath. -
I didn't know that you could revision from sleeve to bypass! Not sure how that works. Do they charge the same as a regular bypass? I'm confused because the stomach has been removed and you just have the pouch. Sorry for the ignorance.

I take 2 meds in capsules which I must take everyday and cannot go without. I have not had my surgery yet, but have been told just to take them anyway. I'm terrified that they will get stuck! There is no liquid Med substitute. The meds have to remain in the capsules. I'm freaked out about it.

Has anyone mentioned to you the idea of getting the sleeve done? A girl in my nutrition class had problems with her band, and was transitioning to the sleeve.

Glad to have you back!
