What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?
barwick411 replied to SassyScienceNerd's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Because the sleeve is so small, my doctor said if tou happen to swallow it, it could cause a blockage in uour sleeve. I chew gum because I've never had a problem with swallowing it. -
I am 3 weeks post-op today. Just curious as to how mamy calories I should be getting at this point. I am getting all of my protein and liquids but am concerned my calorie intake is too much.

I was sleeved two weeks ago today. I am following my doctor's orders to a tee. I am only weighing once a week. I actually gained 2 pounds this week....seriously? I was so disappointed when I got on the scale this morning. If I wasn't following the orders exactly I could understand - BUT I AM. Helppppp!

Why did I gain weight
barwick411 replied to barwick411's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you for the encouraging words and Congrats on ur weight loss!! -
I had VSG on November 8th. The day of my surgery and the day after, I could not hold down even a sip of water. Of course, my mind started with the 'why did you do this to yourself" "this was an elective surgery". I did have to stay an extra night in the hospital but Praise the Lord I am home this evening the 10th. The pain in my stomach is there but bearable. When I drink water, it feels like it gets stick and burns, which then leads to vomiting. So, this evening I am working on a protein shake - gotta get 4oz per hour of liquids! I know each day will be better than the one before! So glad the surgery is over

My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday at 7am. I am so excited but I am not gonna lie to ya - the anxiousness is setting in. I am not so concerned about the procedure itself but coming home after. I am so worried I will have trouble getting in my liquids and protein. I know everyone's recovery is different but I just want to be able to do everything by the book. I am sure tomorrow I will be fretting a bit more. I am trying to stay busy but my mind seems consumed with the surgery and its aftermath right now. Looking forward to getting week one post up behind me!

I am scheduled for surgery in 2 days (Nov 8). I am starting to feel anxious about coming home and being able to get my protein and liquids. Could someone post a menu sample of what you drank/ate and how often? I haven't been able to find a daily guide for week one. My surgeon requires 64 oz of liquid per day and 80-100oz of protein. Help?!?!? I am getting stressed!

There are fruit based protein drinks available that are thinner and not milk based

Surgery in a few days and feeling very anxious
barwick411 replied to CarpeDiem129's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery is also scheduled for November 8th and I also suffer with hypothyroidism. Actually, my thyroid levels have been out of whack for about 4 months and my doc keeps changing my dosage. Nothing changed but thyroid decided to give me fits! I have been very excited through this whole process - it ended up being 7 months from start to surgery- but now that I am 4 days away, I am starting to feel anxious. I know I am doing what is best for me and my health and ultimately my family; however, all of the "what ifs" have crept in. So, you aren't alone! We've got this! Tomorrow is a new day! Look forward to talking to you after our surgeries. -
