I am scheduling to get sleeved on 9/2. I'll be flying into San Diego that day, and out on the 6th. Anyone looking at scheduling out that far? I feel like I've talked to so many places and done so much research that I'm practically an expert Here's my question - I have a low BMI for this sort of procedure, and I'm concerned that with the pre-op diet, I could lose enough weight temporarily that on surgery day I wouldn't qualify. Has anyone been in a similar position? I don't want to gain just to lose, but I'm thinking it's a real possibility. Thoughts?

What do you wish you would have known before?

Anything you wish you would have known or done or prepared for before getting sleeved? Also- is it worth it to invest in a Ninja system for blending foods before and after? -

Ouch! How did you find that out? What sort of issues has that caused you? I'm prone to keloid scars so nervous about this sort of thing. -

Weight in the low 200lbs before surgery
maimee replied to Keekey's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm 204 right now and my surgery date is 9/2. I hope to lose a little before then, but I don't want to lose too much as to disqualify myself from surgery. I'm 5'7" (sometimes 7.5 on a tall day). In the past several years, I've been as high as 245, and as low as 186. My goal weight is 140. I just know I can't do this on my own and sustain any progress. No doctor in the US would approve me, and so I'm going to Tijuana to get sleeved. I don't understand the mentality in the US that you don't "need" bariatric surgery until your BMI is over 35. It doesn't make sense to me. -

Thanks for your response. That is very true what you said about not understanding if you weren't feeling nervous. -
I am in a very similar situation, BMI of 32 and I'm going to get sleeved on 9/2. I need this tool. I've never been successful on my own. I want to be healthy. I want to reset my relationship with food. I'm ready (but scared, as with all major surgeries). Maybe more so because I'm going to Tijuana to have it done.

I am terrified. I booked my surgery and am just living in this constant state of anxiety. Complications and the surgery risks are on my mind. -

Good luck, Dixie! Keep me posted, I'd love to be in touch during your process. I did talk to Bill and he said that the pre-op diets take your current BMI into consideration, and that there should be no issue.
