    Sharp pains when eating??

I am 9 days postop and tonight I had an episode of really sharp pain I. My gut. Sorry for the TMI, but I had diarrhea and then started throwing up and dry heaving. I’m thankful I have my post surgery follow up tomorrow.
  9. You shouldn’t be drinking seltzer water - no carbonated beverages! Are you post surgery? How many days/weeks/months are you post surgery?

Is this really going to work?!?!

Hi! We are sleeve twins! My surgery was also 1/2/18. You may want to try Fairlife non-fat milk - 1 cup has 13 grams of protein. You can also add a little Crystal Light orange flavored powder into it and make it taste like a Dreamsicle. Just a suggestion. Hang in there!

    10 days post op

I am one week post-op and have pretty much met protein goals, but have fallen short on fluids. For the protein goals, I chose to use Fairlife non-fat milk to mix my protein powder - 1 1/4 cup of Fairlife non-fat milk = 16.2 grams of protein + 2 scoops of protein powder (for example Chike coffee powder) = 20 grams of protein. In one drink, I am getting 36.2 grams of delicious protein. You may want to try using Fairlife milk.

    Soup noodles and the like

I was told to avoid pasta and rice because the noodles tend to swell in your pouch.

    Weight Watchers?

I was just sleeved last week, but I did follow WW in the past. Try looking at the recipes on HungryGirl.com - she has some really fantastic recipes on her site.

weight loss 4 weeks post op

It varies depending on starting BMI, etc. I started my pre-op diet on December 15 at 229 (I am 5’3”). My weight on surgery day (1/2/18) was 209. Today’s weight is 202, so basically lost 27 by following my plan to a “t”. You may note that because I had actually gained weight prior to getting a definitive surgery date, my pre-op liquid diet lasted longer than 2 weeks and it was so tough, especially with Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
  20. Hi! I’m 62 and had the sleeve on January 2. I still have pain in my gut, but it’s not too awful. I still take 1 or 2 pain pills per day. I want to make it clear that I have autoimmune issues that have me feeling not so great too. When I first woke up in the recovery room I had regret because the pain was intense for me. The other issue I had was when I got to my room and i asked for pain meds I waited 1 1/2 hours until they were administered, which in my mind was totally unacceptable! (And it was not a case where it wasn’t time for them). This caused me unnecessary anxiety and more pain because it was not under control. I would think that because you walk daily you should have an easier time of it. Good luck on your journey.

    Hospital bag suggestions

Lip balm absolutely. Wish I had brought ear plugs because the damn beeping from the automatic vitals machine drove me nuts and kept waking me up when I was trying to sleep. Something for a dry throat - I didn’t bring anything with me, but was given Chloraseptic spray because my throat was so sore. I didn’t bother bringing PJ’s because I was only in the hospital overnight. I did take slippers. I also took my phone and tablet, but really didn’t use either of them. Hand cream was nice to have. Also brought my toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash. I didn’t bother wearing a bra home because of my incisions. I wore very loose, soft leggings and an oversized top. Also: bring a small pillow with you so you can use it to brace your stomach when you cough or sneeze.

    Post-op Gastroparesis

So sorry to hear this. I had possible gastroparesis prior to my sleeve gastrectomy. My surgeon told me than often times the gastroparesis would resolve post surgery. I never went for the scan to get a definitive diagnosis, however when I had an EGD months prior to surgery for continued GI issues, the GI doc told me I most likely had gastroparesis because they found food in my stomach when they did the EGD. In any case, are you on any meds that might slow digestion? I have a number of autoimmune issues including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia and because I sometimes have to take pain meds to deal with these conditions, I feel that the narcotic pain relievers may be the culprit. I try very hard to avoid them if possible. I hope you find relief from your gastroparesis. Good luck!
  24. Bravo!!!! You’re looking good.
