I need some snack food ideas. Sweet and salty. I know we really aren't supposed to have either of those items I guess....but sometimes I am hungry and just want a little something and need better choices/options. Any ideas?

Me too.

Now that most of us are around 7 months, I was wondering what everyone is eating each day? Can you list what you eat for each meal and how much. I am in a horrible plateau (mostly my own fault I know) and wondered if I am eating too much?? Thanks.

I tend to get bloated and stuck feeling if eating and drinking at the same time I have noticed.....although if the food is very spicy I do have sips of something while eating. -
Females - Surgery questions...
Officeslave replied to wannababy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No cath for me. The nurse had told me I could wear my undies until I went in for surgery (I had a little wait)....but I forgot to take them off before surgery.....needless to say they gave them to me in a little baggy after surgery. I was so embarrassed. -
There are very few people irl that know about my surgery. Now that I have lost almost 50lbs it is showing and when I see someone I haven't seen in a while they all ask "What diet are you doing? You look great! etc...." I know they are trying to be complementary however I am very uncomfortable telling people I am not that close with and prefer not to discuss it. I am so uneasy lying to people - it is just not in my nature. A friend of mine who had LB surgery said she tells people she is/has "done everything she possibly can to lose weight" and that is where I have been going with it these days....but that doesn't always work. People seem to want to know WHAT specific plan you are on. What do you tell people?

I had Dr. Brenda Cacucci. She is with the Carmel Surgical Specialists thru Carmel St. Vincent Hosp. She was great. -
Volumetric Incentive Spirometer
Officeslave replied to lapbandmexico's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine gave me one during my pre-op testing and I had to bring it to the hospital with me. I think it was useful. I did the required breathing and could see improvement daily. -
This is my first visit to this section and THIS is what I find....not that I sat here and read the whole thing mind you...... You guys are killing me!

Wow! That is awesome! Is your insurance paying for your ps or are you self pay?
-
Mine has no requirements and has mentioned that I should eat that day because I won't be able to for a day or two.

Finally have restriction...but is it too much?
Officeslave replied to travel_anna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Crystal....the only thing about the pre-op diet that bothers me (I did NOT have a pre-op diet.....I had pizza the night before surgery!) is that people who were banded around the same time I was have often lost a LOT more, but 1/2 of that was pre-band. Actually finding out it was pre-band makes me feel a little better because my wl has been slower! I guess I haven't figured out the point of the pre-op diet. -
Anyone else feel like their feet are getting smaller with their weightloss? I swear the pair I have on have grown a size or more on me....they used to fit just fine now I had to stuff kleenex in the toes just to keep them on! Am I alone here?

Tonight is the third time in 3 weeks that I have had either a work or family function in a Mexican Restaurant (oye!) and I am at a loss for what to eat. I have ordered refried beans, but I can't eat just a plate of beans (I end up scooping them up with chips or something!) and just about everything else I have ordered in the past has had some sort of tortilla on it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE tortilla's but they get stuck so I really hate to even order anything with one because I end up sitting there picking at one and before I know it I am pbing. Should i just put on my big girl panties and order some sort of burrito and just eat the filling (the chicken/onions/peppers etc) or do you have other ideas? Thanks guys!

Hello to all! As of June 20th - my 4 month bandiversary I have lost 42 lbs. I have had 4 fills (I think) and one slight unfill. I am at 4cc in a 10cc band. -
Yes...I have restriction...Now I'm afraid to eat anything solid
Officeslave replied to BlessedTwice's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't eat those any day and I don't think I am overly tight right now. -
Do any of you still have really huge burps? I wasn't much of a burper before wls but now if I am not careful I swear I could out burp my dh! They also come at unusual times (not right at a meal like you would expect!). Sometimes I will be in my office hours later and bend over to get something out of a file drawer and BAM a long ugly burp will rear it's ugly head. They aren't all that easy to stiffle either! Anyone else have that problem?
-
My dr said they can cause ulcers if they sit in your upper pouch too long. She also said they wouldn't errode my band since it is on the outside and the med would be on the inside.

True enough....true enough!

I get those hiccups too!!!! Bad ones!

I have started a bag of things that I just CAN NOT wear! I have been trying to stretch my old clothes long enough to avoid buying new right now, but there some somethings that are starting to look like maternity clothes or something on me. I am pulling them out and they are going away.....far far away! I just can't believe they used to fit me!
-
Dang I used to be able to finish that!

I think the same thing when I go somewhere like Wendy's. I used to get the Single with cheese meal PLUS a small Frostie. I am one who could probably eat this whole thing still if the bread didn't kill me. Granted I DON'T - I am a "kid's meal" girl now - but I probably COULD eat that much. I am just so much more aware in places like that and I watch others eat as much as I used to and am amazed that I ate that much. No wonder I am fat! -
I just don't know what my deal is. I did so well for the first few months, and now I have totally lost my willpower. I know part of it is that I am still hungry. I have had a couple of fills, and even had a slight unfill because I could eat NOTHING at one point (liquids ONLY). I am afraid to get another fill and end up not able to eat again. I just don't think the band is actually working for me like I thought it would. I do have foods get stuck sometimes and I have pb/slimed many times (mostly because I am distracted with my kids or something while eating and swallow too much or don't chew enough). Obviously bad choices go RIGHT DOWN....but no matter if I make a healthy choice or a bad choice, I am never really full or have that "satisfied" feeling that I thought this surgery would do for me. I have two choices, goes right down and still hungry or gets stuck and I am done until everything moves - there doesn't seem to be any sort of a happy medium. I gained 1/2 a pound last week and I think that didn't help with my bummed out feeling about this. I KNOW I should not compare myself to anyone else, but I am only at about 37 lbs down and am about 14 weeks post-op. I thought I would be further by now. I am starting to wonder if going off of the Lexapro could be part of the issue? My dr always gives you the option to take something like that pre-op and continue for a while post-op to help and I stopped taking it about a month ago. I am wondering if my willpower/drive went away with that? I called and they are calling me in another script for it, so I am hoping that might help. But damn - what is my deal? My exercise is sporatic when I get like this so I am trying to force myself back into that to help kick start my metabolism. I know I am still making MUCH better choices than I would have 6 months ago, but obviously not good enough since I gained .5 last week! Sorry for being a whiner, but I am just feeling like I am failing at this process right now and needed to share with someone who might understand like the folks here. The people who know I have had the surgery all keep saying that I have done so well and basically blowing off what I say about how I am struggling.

Has anyone seen my missing mojo?
Officeslave replied to Officeslave's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, first thank you to all of you for the kind words. I am still in my funk a little, but weighing in today I lost 2 1/2 last week so I am happy about that. My total is up to 39.5 which makes me happy. My first "mini goal" was 40 so I am almost there. I will start another "mini goal" as soon as I get that next 1/2 lb off. I guess I just am not a patient person like I thought I would be. A friend of mine did the Rou-En-Y recently and has already far surpassed my weight loss (in less than 1/2 the time!) so I am sure between that and gaining 1/2 lb last Wednesday, that is what kicked me into a funk. Again, thanks for the encouraging words. I truly appreciate them! -
That is great! Congrats.
