My next appointment is next Friday...I am praying I can move on to soft foods. I know food should be off our minds, but I want to eat "healthy" solids and start doing all these bariatric friendly receipes...Im really excited about eating dehydated Fava beans. Gosh, who gets excited about that? Only people on a liquid diet that just had bariatric surgery because its like a step up from liquids..lol

Nauseous all the time!
BGrundee replied to JShively1993's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im 7 days out and was nauseas like crazy. The second night in the hospital I was hit with real bad nausea and indigestion. I was given something for it which helped alot. I was advised by nurse to get Mylicon chewables (childrens) to fight at home, if I get hit with it again. Its helping me out like no other. Pick some up! -
Liquid post-op diet sucks

I had my surgery on 5/11... just 6 days post op and I’m getting real tired of this liquid diet. I have to do this for another week and half of this.... -
I was told by my nurse not to mess with the incisions and make sure the glue stays long as possible as the glue has an antibiotic in that help with healing and scarring. How many days are you out now and how are your incisions?

Hi, I had my surgery on 5/11...Sugar Free popsicles are my best friend and for some reason helped with headaches. Youll be ok. Hang in there...

Its definetly getting better but still got some tenderness around my stomache and sharp pains if I take in anything too fast. Have you started on any "soft" solids yet? Please tell me you have and its a dream...I never realized until I had surgery, TV commercials is overly saturated with food driven marketing. I hate it. Im also getting real tired of this liquid diet too.. Just fyi, theres a great high protein, very low sugar Ice cream brand called "Enlightened Ice cream"...Its devine! I picked birthday cake at our local Sprouts market...Just fantastic. Its basically a protein shake in the form of ice cream but man it hits the spot. Birthday cake didnt have any chunks in it but only sprinkles that melts in your mouth so it was perfect.

You can do it! Be comfy at the hospital and excited about how life will be after. Im 3 days out from post op. Just FYI stock up on childrens chewable Mylicon (no gas-x what so ever!) and Mylanta. When you come home you will be in the right direction...Good luck!

Keep it up Alan! Im 3 days from post op and excited to see what the journey holds! How are you doing on solids?

I just had surgery on 5/11...Im on a mix of clear and full liquids. 3 weeks clear liquids doesnt sound right. Im on clear liquids because its hard for me to take anything down right now but im pushed to try and sip on protein drinks. Let me know what you find out...

I just had my operation on 5/11. The first 2 days was brutal and had to stay in the hospital an extra night. Be comfy, take your deep breaths, and walk so the trapped gas can pass...

Im now on "clear liquid" and 2 days away from surgery. My husband made his dinner and it smelled amazing. I had to go in our bedroom and put my face in the pillow...I actually enjoyed eatting sugar free vanilla bean jello pudding made with almond milk sprinked with cinnamon. It reminded me of drinking horchata. I complained about eating that, but now I really miss it.

Woot Woot! I’m so happy for you!!! Becky on the west and Becky on the East both getting surgery on 5/11!!! Lol! Have you started your all liquid diet yet?

Almost quit on Day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet
BGrundee replied to Yo-yo girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im probably going to get slack for this. I have my surgery on 5/11 and have researched deeply on this preop liquid diet. I read this diet is suppose to make us go into keto to shrink the liver. Technically to go into Keto, if you dont eat carbs and bad fats ( but healthy fats is ok) you will tap into your fat stores and shrink your liver quick. I.E, Eatting Cauliflower Mac is considered keto since its carb free...Its just Califlower with heavy cream, Cheese, etc. All these ingredients is zero carbs, and very little sugar. I've read also depending where you are some are allowed to eat grilled fish with no salt seasoning and lemon, which fish is zero carbs. Other countries have different requirments like this one person on here lives in Australia and is required to do 30 days! Others like me have to do 14, and lucky few have to do 3 days. So my question is who's telling the truth? Anyhow, I feel you. This liquid diet is crappy. Its not my favorite thing to do at all. -

Hi, I have Aetna. Your 1st weight in starts from the day of your 1st consultation. I did the 90 day multi disciplinary regimen and thought I would only have a total of 3 visits (which included my 1 st consultation), but I had to do a total of 4 weigh ins. The 4th was a little after 90 days. If you gain any weight, make sure to lose it by your final weight in or you will get denied! My paperwork was submitted 4/12 and got approval on 4/23 in the afternoon. I called my insurance provider every day to get status. This helped to get a quicker response. Good luck and follow the rules....You will be ok -
Congratulations! Finding out your approved feels so good. I found out I was approved 4/23 and I teared! I had to fight insurance for approval for initial consultation, so when I got approved for surgery without a fight it felt so good. My surgery date is 5/11! We are officially May sleevers!

Time off from work
BGrundee replied to GirlShrinking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I had this horrible long 1.5 commute, I would listen to paranormal podcasts and audiobooks. I learned listening to radio was way to boring as songs were repeated so many damn times. My butt and back would hurt, that I'd often found myself leaning on one butt cheek to the other in stand still traffic. lol....Anyhow, listening to podcasts were my jam!!! Sometimes I'd get into it and miss my exit...hahahaha
