  1. I am unable to access the link to the WLS magazine above - it says link not found...?

    United Health Care Insurance

Did you meet with your doctor every month for your six months? I'm curious to know if they have any flexibility in the approval process if you qualify otherwise.

    UHC Denied!

Sorry to hear that. I have UHC and they've said nothing about needing to have BMI above 35 for 5 years. Sounds like your employer's requirement.

UHC Choice Plus & 6 month requirement experience?

I'm also on UHC Choice Plus and was told they aren't allowed to provide the requirements in writing (which seems a bit dodgy). Do you have a nurse from UHC assigned to you yet? Mine seems very helpful so far and will hopefully help me navigate all the hoops.

For those on liquid vitamins, how's the taste?
  7. I don't plan to tell anyone at work (I'll let my boss know I need to take medical leave when the time comes, telling him enough not to worry about my well-being without saying what, exactly, the surgery is). But I've told my dad and brothers because I do need support and in case something goes south with the surgery. This brings up a question, though... my team at work is very much into lunches together... there seem to be a lot of great food products geared towards bariatric patients, but how do you eat these at work without giving the nature of the surgery away? Do folks "repackage" the products into non-labeled containers? Eat/drink when no one is around? Come up with a vague way to explain your sudden change in food/drink choices...?
  8. Great info here-thank you! A silly anatomy question I plan to ask my surgeon, but in case anyone has already asked it... To give you an idea of where I'm at - I am just starting my journey and my immersion day is coming up in a couple weeks. I am currently working out with a personal trainer and working on building strong core muscles. Will having a stronger core make it more difficult for the surgeon to make the incisions or cause more pain when they pull the stomach out? I'm hoping having a stronger core beforehand will actually help me in my recovery... PS, You haven't seen anything until you've seen my trainer have me perch on all fours (hands and knees) on top of a balance ball, with the goal of me being able to use my core to stay on it for several minutes at a time...effective, and I'm getting better at it every day, but quite a sight!
