Good luck with all your testing. I flunked the pulmonary test and now sleep with a CPAP machine, but better safe than sorry. When I was on a diet drug I couldn't be on my regular SSRI so they put me on Wellbutrin which had no effect on me what so ever. It might as well have been a placebo for me. I did lose weight and got the other appetite back as well, too well, those were the good ole days.:tongue2: I was actually put on Wellbrutrin along with my SSRI to give me more energy but that didn't do anything either. I guess Wellbutrin just doesn't help me, I'm impressed when people are on it and do well but I guess that's different brain chemistries etc....Good luck with the quitting smoking too, it's amazing the hardships we go through prior to surgery isn't it? Thanks for sharing brandyII.

I don't know, but a lot of people say they affect them that way. My daughter was on Paxil and didn't tolerate it very well. I think at one time I myself was on it. There's been a lot of tries and mistries over the past 17+ years. I think there's something about some of these drugs that can make certain things addictive or compulsive. Like I've heard people on certain drugs could spend money out of control so it wouldn't surprise me if the drug had that same effect with food etc... I know a lot of them tend to slow down your metabolism and that in itself makes it difficult. But it's much better to be on than off even if it does slow down your wt loss in some way. Plus they put out statements saying that this drug doesn't seem to affect your weight gain or may make you lose and my docs always would put me on those types and it never made a difference in me. I don't know who those people are that lose weight on anti-depressants but it's definitely not moi!:confused2:

Know what you mean, about the bodies that is!:tongue2: I went off before to go on diet meds and I was the worse bitch in the world and could not for the life of me control it. Sounds like a pattern. I think I was on Zoloft at one time myself and then many others like Effexor. I watched my brother go off his meds for depression when a "Tom Cruise" type person told him he should and meditation would help. My brother called me crying for days and had such bad anxiety that he could not get off the floor! Thank God I've never been as bad as that but I've seen it and know. I've also passed it down to my daughter and it breaks my heart. My brother is six years older and it hit him in his early 20s, I found it so strange then. Then when I was about the same age it hit me and got worse as I got older and had kids. The bad thing was it hit my daughter at an even earlier age but I had the foresight to know what was going on, not perfect, but was aware and there's so much better treatment and awareness out there now. My dad unfortunately died an alcoholic and that's how he dealt with it by self medicating. I think his grandfather killed himself but I don't know all the details but it's a difficult thing but manageable today. The problem now is living with the side effects which can be real problems too. Also they're not always effective and you may have to change dosages or prescriptions. Thanks for sharing, brandyII.

I've been on an SSRI for probably 18 years? Can't remember, that part of my brain no longer functions:mellow: I wonder if possibly the clonapin (spelled a billion ways) for anxiety is the worse of the two evils. I mean I won't go off my antidepressant, and feel better with it fat than off it thin but I think I could go off the clonapin. I don't know, today I got my blood work results back and since my lap band surgery almost nine months ago I now have high cholesteral and am on lipator (sp) now and full blown type II diabetes and am back on my meds for that. It's like a bad casserole or something going on here, I don't know. I wish there was one simple answer besides eat less exercise more with all these things going on with me it's kind of a mind blower!:tongue2:

1. Since when are Great Pumpkin worshipers Cheerio pissers:confused: 2. I think babies are too many points on the Weight Watcher's plan if anyone is interested.:tongue2: brandyII

Thanks Mango, I'm not on that one but it's helps to know others are having issues with theirs too, just add to my issues!! brandyII

I'm kind of surprised at you, I think that happens with all people but they make fat people out to be slobs intentionally. I know plenty of people who are messy or eat quickly and they don't have to be fat to do it. I think it's a stereotype:thumbdown:brandyII. And I'm actually lucky if I'm wearing a low cut shirt the food will go straight down the girls and no one would ever know:lol:

Thanks Readysteadygo, You've always been supportive and have keen insight to a lot of different things and I always enjoy you on threads, Nancy.

I guess there's some fine line with bi-polar disorder, do you shop a lot and like it well you're either a girl or bi-polar. Are you taking any at the moment or is that too personal, just wondering if it's still an issue for you, thanks. I don't think I could handle not being on these meds because when I went off them it was badddddd, not jump off a bridge bad but just really bitchy, moody etc....thanks Nancy.

I'm kind of curious as to what drugs they were on. Sometimes they use the same drug for a variety of personality disorders, not speaking of boring ones of course:blink: Thanks Nancy

Was Hitler a Christian? Just curious, brandyII

Plain, No I didn't, some people I respect their advice more and you are one that I do. Others, I try to ignore, lol. But I really don't want to do anything too drastic and if I can get it working like everyone else seems to be doing then I would feel that would be a pretty big accomplishment right now, thanks brandyII.

Jack, don't go all Tom Cruise on me now! I'm glad that you were able to get past it but it's a problem that a lot of people in my family suffer with and it goes back a few gens unfortunately. The bad part is I feel better in one sense but with the side effects it's hard to have it all! Thanks brandyII.

Thanks Tina, I still think there is an answer out there, it may be far far out there in the Galaxy somewhere but I will find it, I never give up. Thanks again, Nancy.

My nightmare hospital experience this weekend
brandyII replied to 80s_chick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow that really sucks:thumbdown: when I had my over-fill and called the service at 11:30 PM a surgeon met me at their office after midnight because they thought I'd get better care that way than going to an ER where the chance of getting someone who knew anything about taking out a fill was kind of chancy. The worse part is that it was your surgeon who treated you this way. I don't blame you for taking action, no one deserves that.:thumbdown:brandyII -
I watch a lot of "Britcoms" and it's funny how when I'm with people who don't normally watch them they act like they need a translator! My daughter is just graduating with a degree in linguistics and she's constantly correcting my speech and it drives me crazy!!!! I was raised around the Mason-Dixon line and can't help it! brandyII:blush:

Maybe because they choose to not because they're scared into thinking they'll go to hell if they don't! Still worshiping the great pumpkin, brandyII. I wish I could learn to just shut my beak, and in more ways than one!!!!!!

Even though our pool season is very short too I vote pool, we even had those above ground 3 1/2 foot high ones and put in an air mattress and on a great day it's really relaxing and can be fun to share with your DH! brandyII

I hate low riders too, maybe my belly is too big and I want it covered but I feel really weird wearing those and have always hated Lane Bryant for forcing me to wear them. If I wear the ones that are higher waisted then they're too big in the butt and legs! Not really angry but you know what I mean, brandyII

Well said MrsFlipFlops, brandyII.

What do you consider to be your weakness, if you don't mind me asking in relationship to "the belly" situation, brandyII

My new avatar is "Talous" the baby that will come sometime in June. She decided to name he/she after one of her favorite artists, go figure! brandyII

I was a transcriptionist for 7 years but then the company that my boss worked for got a program so we weren't needed any more. I typed workmen comp claims. I liked doing it at the time and it was great because I could be home with my kids. At the time I did it, it was still somewhat old fashioned and I carpooled with different girls and picked up tapes to type. I know things are a lot different now, that was at least ten years ago and it wasn't medical. But I liked being my own boss but I also didn't like the idea that there was always work to do. But like I said it was great at the time because my children were younger and I was able to stay home with them. brandyII
