Does anyone have problems with Absortion of SSRI with VSG and DS
Vtoney91108 posted a topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Hello everyone! I had my original surgery RNY Dec 2009 which was a hard road when finding the right dose for my SSRI zoloft. We work it out but i felt like i lost my mind for a while. Now that I am having my revision VSG & DS Aug 9th 2017. My question is does anyone have or had problem with absorption of there SSRI like zoloft? The reason I am asking is my for the DS part of the surgery because Zoloft work by breaks down and absorbing in the intestine. I am very nervous about the UP coming surgery because of that factor. Any information would help! Thank you Violet Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app -

Hello! So what I found out is that there might be a small less absorption than with my first surgery. I asked for the 25mg tab for after my surgery and I am on 225mg a day. I am able to take them since the surgery. All is well with my anxiety bit I will have to tell you the recovery is not easy for me because it was a revision for me. I would just make sure your Dr. Know that you may need the smaller mg so you don't have to crush them.. the only way I was able to handle the crushed was in sugar free pudding at the hospital... Hello! We have the same surgery date! I had my original surgery in Dec. 2009 and I am having a revision from RNY to VSG and DS. I do understand the struggle with the liquid stage. The first time I was on it for 3 weeks before surgery and this time my surgeon isn't requiring me to but I am because I think it is better for my body. Hello! I completely understand about being cold. I went through the same thing. I was told that being cold was due to my rapid weight loss and that my internal temper control of sorts was having a hard time regulating itself. It does get better. I used a heating pad or bean bags you heat in the microwave a lot to get me warm when I was do cool that I couldn't get warm. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app
