    Sliders

Ice cream and popcorn is definitely a slider for me! Over Christmas I made the mistake of having about 10 cashews - I was bloated and full until the next day. Couldn’t even sit down and have Christmas dinner with my family. Protein bars I still can’t handle 8 mo. post-op, 1/2 bar feels like bricks sitting in my pouch. I carry one in my purse at all times though just in case my sugar levels completely drop

If you could close one fast food chain

I’m so glad in small-city Canada where I live we don’t have all those fast-food choices other than the standard McD’s, BK, Arby’s, Wendy’s, and Taco Bell! Both me and my hubby would be twice our size! One thing I was always a sucker for was Wendy’s Baconator. But thankfully I’ve stayed away since my RNY! Also, poutine (fries, cheese curds & gravy). It’s a Canadian thing and it’s my weakness! Can’t say no to anything with cheese!
  3. I also had RNY with Dr. Illan back in October and I’m doing great! The man is honestly a Godsend!
  4. I went with Dr. Illan & BariatricPal in Tijuana. I had RNY but for the sleeve I think it’s somewhere around $4,500? It gives the exact price on their website. That includes transportation from SAN Diego airport & accommodations.

    Finally hit my goal

Oh my goodness!!! I haven’t salivated over another man other than my hubby in quite a while (well, except maybe the Winchester boys) but you sir look AMAZING!!! Congrats on reaching your goal weight! [emoji1417]

    Waking up after sugery

Bahahaha!!! I’m exactly the same. No pain from surgeries or nausea from anesthesia but I feel and act like I just smoked something [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] I know I get angry when they wake me up because it’s a much better sleep than my normal sleeping patterns. My last surgery, RNY, apparently I was having the same conversations and asked the same questions for almost 24 hrs. I don’t remember a thing! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

    Crohns patient requirements

I’m soooo sorry you’re going through that! That doesn’t sound pleasant at all!

    Crohns patient requirements

While I don’t have Crohn’s I was diagnosed with ischemic colitis in 2013, which is very similar. I had a full RNY done in October 2017 and was scared how this would affect me. Mind you, I was used to the dumping syndrome. Oddly enough I have only had 1 flare up, which was 4-5 weeks post-op and in all honesty my fault. After that it’s been smooth sailing [emoji569]️

So Confuseled About the Bariatric Pal Facebook Group

I’m not really sure what you’re doing wrong? I would email Bill Yanez. Maybe he can help you out? It’s a great group to be a part of. I find more people are posting & commenting on there lately than on here [emoji4]

    Holidays and traveling?

You’re going to Europe! How exciting!!! I lived in Greece for 15 years but I’ve been to all those countries. Just some food for thought (pun intended lol) pasta in Italy is not the same as North Americans make it/see it. It’s a pre-appetizer served before the salad usually and very light on the sauce. So technically you only eat 1-2 forkfuls. That being said, the Italians make some mean veal and beef and lamb dishes, which is a great way to get your protein and don’t be afraid to try different things! Then there’s the French. They focus on quality, not quantity, so the portions will not be what we are used to in the US/Canada. I’m soooo jealous! I hope you enjoy your trip [emoji4]

    Scar Treatments

I’m currently trying Mederma. Not too crazy about it, doesn’t seem to be doing much. Before that I tried Dermatix. A bit on the pricey side but I feel it worked slowly. Will be switching back to that soon
  14. I second that! I used BariatricPal for my RNY and couldn’t have been happier with the staff and care I received! I wouldn’t think of any place else when the time comes for my plastics. I live in Canada and the costs here are horrendous, plus I KNOW I’ll receive better care at BariatricPal than any hospital here.
  15. Enjoy it while it lasts guys. The feeling of non-hunger only lasts for 3-4 months. I know it’s frustrating right now but soon enough you’ll look back fondly to the days you could survive off Protein Shakes & ice. I know I do! My best friends during the purée stage were the ricotta bake and sugar free pudding and apple sauce. I wasn’t allowed meat until 6-7 weeks into it and only soft pulled meats at best

    Before and After (So far)

You sir, are truly inspirational! Kudos for taking control of the situation and getting your life back! All of us in this forum know this is not an easy feat. I wish you nothing but happiness and good health from here on out! [emoji1417]

What to expect , Mexico april 2018??

Ma’am you could not have picked a better surgeon or support team! I had my RNY done there in October and each and every staff member cares for their patients’ safety, comfort & support. They see people as people not just another dollar sign. If I had to go again I would be totally comfortable going alone [emoji4]

    GOAL!!

    Congratulations!!! 6 months is amazing!
  19. Wow! I’m sorry to hear that you had such a horrible experience! All that doesn’t sound good at all! I also went to Mexico but my experience was the complete opposite. I can’t stop raving about how well I and my companion were treated and how clean and organized everything was. Way better than any hospital care I’ve ever received in Canada & Europe. I guess it depends on the company & clinic. I hope your post-op support is there for you at least [emoji1417]

    October '17 RNY buddies

You’re doing amazing!!! I really enjoy reading about your journey every week [emoji4] you’re obviously killing it girl! I think most people have moved on from this thread so I’m glad you’re keeping it going! I still check in for updates once in a while but mostly I’m focusing on building better habits at this point, one demon at a time. Thank you for sharing your journey with us all and keep it up! 20 years of Lies

I really enjoyed reading this post. And all the responses. I’m terrible at expressing my thoughts both in writing and to others directly. But what everyone wrote resonated so deeply within me. Especially the part about people saying now “you’re so beautiful”. I literally tore my best friend’s head off who is overseas when he messaged me this. When my dad & his wife asked me how much weight I’ve lost I turned into a psycho-raging leviathan on them outta nowhere. My husband actually had to calm me down. It’s like all this anger I had building up inside me is now coming out and I don’t know how to keep it under check

    Just took pre-op photos

The only thing I regret is not taking more pre-op photos! I used to avoid the camera like the plague! It made me sad. Now, I have very few photos to compare to
  23. Hey everyone! I don’t post in here often but there’s been something I’m dying to get off my chest. Body dysmorphia. I would read about it in this forum before my WLS and wonder “How the heck are these people not seeing their progress?” Well, I can honestly relate to this now. I’m not at my goal weight yet. I’m only 4 mo. post-op. I’m down 50 lbs from my starting weight of 218. I’m hoping to reach 135. Everyone keeps telling me they see such a huge difference, but me... I don’t see it. I just feel the same. Even when I look in the mirror or at before and after photos. Especially when I look in the mirror! It’s weird to explain. I feel 100x better, my original clothes literally were falling off weeks ago, I can do things I never could before, like not struggle to wear pantyhose to get ready for work or wear heels more often. I cross my legs without even thinking about it and I can do 45 mins on the treadmill easy! I’m at my lowest ever adult weight, but... I still feel like the big girl I always was. I still look at myself in the mirror and pick apart every roll and dimple. I went into a high end clothes shop the other day which I never would have dared walk into pre-op. I could fit their XL but not their large and I thought to myself “See, you’re right. You haven’t made progress. What the heck are you even doing in this place?” The snooty sales lady didn’t help either. Anyway, I’m sorry for ranting, I just needed to get all this off my chest. I don’t really have anyone I can talk to in my life about this stuff that will actually get it.
  24. You seriously made my evening! This sounds like something I would totally do lmao I’m still laughing 5 mins later [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] I love that you actually took a pic [emoji1417]

    Cons?

I feel exactly the same way! I used to be able to live off pizza. Now, I’ll get the craving to order it once in a while but even before the delivery guy gets here I’ll change my mind and eat some cottage cheese or ground beef or something *gasp* healthy just to say that I had some type of dinner. The pizza or the foods I used to LOVE don’t even appeal to me anymore. And if anything I don’t miss those foods; what I do miss is missing them (I don’t know if that makes sense, it’s hard to describe) As far as the vitamins are concerned they are a lot and they do take getting used to taking them religiously BUT I definitely prefer them to medication & insulin 5x a day!
