Arnica gel really helps bruises heal faster. Might be worth a try, Lang with lab test.

5 days out Incision hurting
gotime0810 replied to gotime0810's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh good! I was getting really worried. I have staples and every time it hurts I'm afraid I'm ripping one out. I go on Thursday to have them removed so at least I won't have that fear in my head. I have some topical lidocaine that I've just put around the area but not on top of the incision. Thank y'all so much for the response! -
Compulsory sobriety sucks!

You should probably let the anesthesiologist know. -
I get sleeved tomorrow.
gotime0810 replied to Lowes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I about 5 days out. I only had nausea the first day. I had a one night stay and things have been pretty smooth. Stay ahead of the pain and take your pain meds for the first day or two and walk as much as you can to relieve the gas pain. good luck :-) -
My experience is a lot like Rosana's. I had some minor nausea right after the surgery but they gave me a patch and that made things much better. I basically only ate ice chips the first day. I tried a bite of jello and tried some broth but they didn't taste good. The second day I was put on full liquids so I had yogurt and pudding for breakfast. I went home around noon and stayed on my pain meds for another 24 hours. Liquids have been a challenge but finally easier today. I felt really empty, not hungry just empty, until yesterday. I made some pudding with protein and that helped take away that feeling. Honestly I wasn't walking around as much as I should but finally got out yesterday and that made a huge difference to relieve the bloated feeling in my abdomen area. The gas pain was never that bad for me, basically discomfort. Overall things have gone pretty smoothly. I have no regrets. Good luck, you are going to do great!

Any August 2017 Sleevers?
gotime0810 replied to Jessalene's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 days post-op and feeling pretty good. My surgeon prescribed blood thinners for a week. I'm not a fan because it is an injection. Thankfully my husband is less squeamish than me. -
Have you tried Biotene?

For anyone who had a hernia repair at the same time as the sleeve procedure, can you please provide some information on recovery time, pain level, different diet, etc...? TIA

Sleeve and Hernia repair
gotime0810 replied to gotime0810's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh wow! That's not good. I was in recovery when they gave it to me. I don't know if that was their standard or if they had already given me something and this was stronger. I'm allergic to visceral sutures so they used staples on my incisions instead of dissolving stitches. -

Surgery and repair went well. Recovery is going well too. I had nausea right after surgery but it got better with a patch and oxygen. I only had ice chips and some broth the first day and moved to full liquid on Day 2. Drinking any liquid is challenging right now. I get cramps when I drink something but my doctor said that was normal. Yogurt and pudding with protein powder are what I'm using to get protein in. The gas pain is getting better each day. I'm hoping that I will feel almost 100% by Thursday when I go back to get my staples removed. -

I probably could have walked earlier but I waited for some of the stronger pain meds to wear down. So far everything is going well. Thank you [emoji4] -

Thank You. Around 2 they moved me to a chair and I sat there for a couple hours. I started walking around 4, so about 5 hours after surgery. -
Any August 2017 Sleevers?
gotime0810 replied to Jessalene's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So yesterday was the big day. I've officially joined the losers bench. I had some nausea when I woke up, but they gave me a patch and oxygen and that helped a lot. I lived on ice chips yesterday because I was really scared to drink water, but I did start drinking towards the evening. I ways really hurting yesterday but I feel a lot better today. i am still taking my pain medicine to help my body heal. Walking hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be. The gas pressure was pretty bad yesterday but feels much better today. Walking and burping seems to work best for me.Thankfully my doctor is allowing full liquids today. I'm happy to be adding in protein to food and drink. I still haven't found my full meter so I'm eating small bites with a decent amount of time in between. I am worried that I think I'm hungry because it feels like my tummy is growling. I'm really hoping that it is just gas. Guess that is it for now. I hope all of surgery twins are feeling good today. -

I'm August 10th as well! I think I'm prepared mentally and physically. Good luck! -
Surgery date is August 10.

My surgery is 8/10 as well. I've found that reading through this site about all of the individual experiences has helped keep me calm. Having insight from those post-op really helps to know what to basically expect so you are not going in "blind". Not gonna lie though, I'm expecting my anxiety to be off the charts this Monday-Wednesday. I also don't expect to sleep very well Wednesday night. 😉 I will be really busy with work though so that should help. I guess my advice is to prepare yourself with knowledge and keep your mind busy with other stuff. Good luck! -
I bought a sample pack from Celebrate and Unjury. I liked the Celebrate powders, they tasted good and dissolved easily in a shaker. They tasted good with water and milk. I really like the Unjury unflavored powder and the chicken soup powder (SO GOOD). The powder from Unjury seemed to clump and not dissolve as easily but the flavors were really good as well.

I had my pre-op appointment with my surgeon today. Things are getting so real! I am grateful that he is a bit different from other surgeons because he he doesn't require a liquid diet if your BMI is under 40. The only thing is no red meat 5 days before and no food after lunch the day before. My only problem is that I have to remember that doesn't give me free reign to go overboard before surgery. I had to remind myself of that many times this afternoon. He is having me drink Gatorade and take a Celebrex the night before and the morning of to help with electrolytes and pain. I'm curious how the Celebrex helps with pain? Just one more test on Thursday at the hospital and then I'm good to go. My anxiety hasn't set in yet but I know I'm going to be a mess next week. Good luck to you all. I'm looking forward to reading about everyone's journey.

Any good protein shakes ?

I love chai tea! How did you make that one? -
Are you weighing yourself on the same scale, around the same time of day, with basically the same clothing every time? If not then your numbers could be off. For example - The scale at my house and my NUT has a three pound difference.

Pre-Op weight loss, how much is to much?
gotime0810 replied to melsabells's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I'd say check with your insurance company to verify their BMI requirements. My insurance coverage required a BMI of 35 with a co-morbidity to approve. If was 40 or higher I didn't need the co-morbidity. -
Alternative to walking after surgery
gotime0810 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What are alternatives to walking after surgery? I have peroneal tendonitis and am currently in a boot to restrict movement. I will force myself to walk at the hospital, but I won't be able to take walks on a regular basis. I do have a stationery recumbent bike. Would that be okay to use? I'm going to talk to my surgeon on Tuesday but also wanted to get thoughts and suggestions here. -
