18 days post op - no weight loss
ALotLessMe replied to zleng's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had bypass completed on the 6th. I'm averaging about 700 calories a day. I got the clear last Wednesday to ease into regular food. I increased my carbs to around 50 yesterday and today and that has helped with my energy a lot! Actually walked a mile this morning. I was told to eat till your full and stop. So that's what I'm doing. I think our body's are still in shock from the changes and it is going to take a little while for everything to start moving faster. Make sure your getting your protein to help heal faster. I'm down 18 lbs but I had a complication early on with a pretty high fever and litterally had no food for a week!! So I lost 10 lbs the hard way there. Hang in there and maybe talk to your nutritionist. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Sure. I was only taking Protonix prior to surgery. Came home with Protonix, ondansetron for nausia, Lovenox for blood clots, carafate(coats stomach), then I also have a scar cream and lidocain lotion for pain. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app -

I did it!!! Gastric Bypass was done yesterday morning. Spent last night in hospital and tonight I'm in my own bed. I won't lie, there is some pain but seems to be well managed with meds. Getting in and out of bed is the worst! Any movement hurts but today it is better than yesterday and I'm hopeful that continues. I passed swallow test and was told that if I tolerate clears tomorrow I can add shakes to full liquid diet. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Thanks, we live in Central Houston and we're spared the damage. Good luck talking to your Dr. Or finding another one. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app

My stats are close to yours as well. 5'4, 210 lbs, sleep apnea, GERD, High BP. I am having Gastric Bypass tomorrow. My surgeon has been very supportive from day one. Those surgeons are out there. Not sure where you are but my doc is Dr. Turnquest in Houston. Best of luck!! Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm looking forward to my self esteem coming back. After a lot of stressful events going back 20 years I started packing on the pounds and growing less active and more depressed. After a long battle with cancer I lost my husband in 2008. Then estate problems, IRS, loss of employment, TEENAGERS, major move and more. I turned to food for comfort and just wanted to hide from the world. for me I'm looking at this as my New Beginning. Finally ready to let go of the pain and not just live my life but Thrive. So grateful for you all. Being here is inspiration. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app -

I'm so sorry to hear your feeling this bad. Your doing right to get to the Dr/ER ASAP. Your symptoms sound very serious and not just recovery and adjustment. I'll be praying for you!!! Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app

September 2017 Gastric Bypass surgeries
ALotLessMe replied to LifeChangesLori's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi. I'm in Houston and having bypass surgery on Sept 6. I'd love to some bypass buddies. I was going to have Sleeve surgery but due to Gerd my doc wants me to have the Bypass. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I am also in Houston in midtown. We were spared the wind and flood damage that so many are suffering from right now. My heart is breaking for all the displaced families. I have bypass surgery scheduled for Wed at 1:00n and don't know if it will still go fwd that day. I'm sure I'll learn tomorrow. It does seem like a set back but what is important is that we made this decision to improve or health and we are still on that path. Prayers for Texas!! Sleeving in 3 weeks! I am excited!
ALotLessMe replied to Shedding4me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Agreed, it's going to be great to have this weight off and feel healthy again and have energy to live again. I've only told my sister besides my husband so far and she has concerns about side effects that can happen. ....gallbladder, dumping, nutrient defficiencies....I've told her yes these are possibilities but continuing yoyo dieting or staying overweight isn't an option anymore . I'll be 50 in March and looking forward to it like a child does CHRISTMAS because it feels like a wonderful second chance to be healthy!!! Sent from my Nexus 5X using BariatricPal mobile app -

I love that picture as well and can relate. My surgery is August 30th and I can't wait. Excitement far out weighs the nerves. I have read in a couple threads where people had their gallbladder removed during the sleeve surgery if they are prone to gallstones. I have a gallbladder scan in two weeks where I believe they will determine if my gallbladder will stay or go. Good luck with your journey!! Sent from my Nexus 5X using BariatricPal mobile app
