    Gastritis

Hi, I had been suffering with what I was told was gastritis since Oct 2017. I had a scope in Dec 2017 by the surgeon that performed my lad band. He said gastritis and a ppi twice a day. I went to the ER 4 times before they finally did the endoscopy. They immediately wanted to blame the band. I had 2 cc’s take out at that time. When the endoscopy determined it was gastritis and not the band I had 1.5 cc’s put back in 2 sessions. When I was overall not seeing much improvement I have a 0.3 cc removed by my calculations this put me around 4.5 cc in an 11 cc band. It was lower then it was when I wasn’t having problems. Symptoms would come and go but for the most part I vomited every day. If I drank I’d vomit black coffee grounds. It was becoming unbearable. Last week I had a follow up endoscopy and they completely deflated my band. I’m worried about gaining the weight back, I’m worried I wasted my money (not covered in Canada) and mostly I’m worried because I still have pain. I am not vomiting or having GERD anymore. He said I could look to start filling it again in 2 months. Has anyone else had to reset and start the filling process all over again? Anyone else with chronic gastritis and GERD from being banded?

    Vomiting old blood

Hi. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced vomiting old blood (dark, rust colored)? My other symptoms are: severe constipation, in ability to hold down food or water that only last a few days and then I can eat and drink normally again. When I can't hold anything down I have mild to moderate abdominal pain on the right side. Also, even sipping water causes bile to come up. I have only vomited the blood 4 times in 2 1/2 months. It feels nothing like the sensation of food becoming stuck and feels more like the flu without the other symptoms. None of this makes sense to the surgeon who did my lap band surgery but the general surgeon I've been seeing wants to blame the band. I really think I have a bleeding ulcer. Most recently I couldn't hold anything down for 3 days and the pain was becoming worse so I went to ER. The next day I ate fairly normally, although I took it easy and I was back to drinking my 8-10 glasses of water a day while just the day before water made me vomit? I have been unable to find anybody with my symptoms on here. If we ignore the presence of the band it all points to ulcer. I should also mention my band has been in for 1 year and 9 months, I have just over 5cc's. The nurse at the Bariatric surgeons took out 2 cc's tonight so we can rule that out. I'm not very happy about it because I was finally starting to make some progress. My surgeon will only allow very small fills each visit and it took more then a year of monthly fills to finally see some progress. I feel like I've gone back a year of this weight loss journey with the removal of fluid.

Nearly a year in and Not losing weight.

I was banded April 2016. I'm only down 10 lbs and have 4.3cc. I asked my nurse for more and she said the doctor only wants her to give .3 at a time. I guess he feels it's safer to restrict the stomach at a slow pace for better long term success. Since you hear all those horror stories about people who drop it quickly then have problems or need it removed I tried to feel positive like he was trying to be as safe as possible. I feel like I started to have some progress around 4cc. I was hoping the progress would be faster. I track all my food on an app called "my plate" and try to stick to 1200 calories a day (sometimes the wine and cheese tops me out) I know I'm eating less, I'm just not seeing the results. I play ball 2 a week, go to the gym sometimes and am really active with my husband ( he likes to canoe and hike) I understand you feelings because I feel the same way. But I liked what you said about it being a marathon not a race. I'll try to remember that.
