Struggling in Soft/Mushy Stage
Zillah replied to kej2u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe you can doctor up some veggies and chicken and put it in a crock pot. Or grind the chicken in a food processor and have it with some soft veggies. I used to like chicken, but it annoys me now, and I had chili one night at a restaurant and was really grossed out. The best meal I made was turkey legs in my crock pot overnight. It shredded it all up and was very tasty. I put veggies in it in the am so they won't be too mushy. The best thing to do is make sure everything is pureed so you can get your nutrients. All the best!! -
My experiance of an all you can eat buffet.
Zillah replied to dreamingsmall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is exactly how I feel!!! I'm happy for the restriction and don't feel tempted at all for sweets or anything. I love eating with the goal of nutrition and not my old way of pigging out. I used to go to buffets and leave stuffed. I'll go in a social setting but that's it. There's no appeal to a place that is designed for the overeater. NO thanks!!!!!! -
Surgeons who won't set a goal?
Zillah replied to SpindleCity's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No real plan from my surgeon or nutritionist, but they give tips on how to keep the process going. Everyone's body is different and it will stabilize, but I have my own goal and plan to get there. Maybe it may be better to consult your primary doctor to determine height/weight goals and a plan. -
When does the light shine
Zillah replied to QueenTiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my head in the game by watching cooking shows and buying appliances to facilitate new recipes. I had to reevaluate my relationship with food. my wife made excellent broth, which was like heaven when I first sipped it. I would recommend getting a lot of that, plus power-aid to offset just water. it'll get much better, esp. when you start fitting into different clothes and are able to add different things to your diet. I've realized that this is more psychological than physical. You have to get your head in the game. Once you're clear to exercise, focus on that seriously and try to have fun. It definitely will get better, esp. when you focus on the future benefits. Stay strong!!!! -
JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?
Zillah replied to dreamingsmall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 7/3 and am clear to everything but raw food. I've lost 50lbs and am back in the gym and doing T25 with it. I don't really care for food as much as I used to and am happy with that. I just eat to survive and get my nutrients and protein. I'm having lots of fun with this!!! -

Fifty Pound Loss In Pics! (NSFW!)
Zillah replied to teacupnosaucer's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Good job!!!!! I'm 50lbs down also. Keep up the good work!!! -
I've been very good with pain. I haven't taken any meds since the day after surgery. The 3rd day in the hospital I was fine, and filled the prescription given by my surgeon. It's just sitting in my medicine cabinet.

Weight loss doing great, but darn, I'm always hungry!!!
Zillah replied to gwbicster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This seems to be every bit psychological. We have to remember that we had a bad relationship with food, and the fast food choices you made reflect it. Maybe learning how to cook decent, tasteful, healthy dishes would help. I'm reevaluating my relationship with food. I passed a great test this weekend with my family. We were at a nice restaurant and their food looked and smelled amazing. I had PowerAde and water without any psychological backlash. The only thing I thought was "Wow! Before I would eat all of mine and some of theirs." That helps me put things in perspective. Eat to live, not live to eat. -
I think what may help would be to box up a portion immediately to avoid this. I haven't gotten to your stage yet, but maybe being cognizant of the food and social connection. Eat slower, put the fork down between bites, and chewing slower may help your mind catch up to your satiation level. I feel so far is this is 99% psychological. I'm reevaluating my relationship with food.

You'll be fine. Keep your perspective, because it's very psychological. I'm in day 11 and counting. PowerAde no calorie is working great for me. My wife made homemade beef and chicken broth and I thought I was in heaven lol. Stay hydrated, and you can mix it up with other no cal drinks like certain Vitamin water flavors. My fun time is eating my calcium chews and gummie vitamins. I was at the shore with my family at the hotel restaurant and their food looked amazing! I had PowerAde and water and was able to withstand and psychological issues. You'll get stronger each day.

How did you ask for time off work?
Zillah replied to bbk95's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used my vacation time, and came back today. Had the surgery 7/3. Told my boss I had surgery but didn't indicate what type. I'm keeping this my business all the way. People are asking how I'm doing sympathetically, perhaps because I was almost 30lbs heavier since they saw me and I'm walking like a sloth lol. I guess this works in my favor!!
