  1. Lets see I started out at 386#, I'm 5"9'. My staring BMI in apri; was 57.1 and in Nov. was 42.87. I've lost 3 inch. in my upper arms, 1 inch in my wrist, 6 1/2 inches in my chest, 9 inches in my waist, 7 in. in my hips, 4.5 in my thigh, 3 in. in my calf, 1 in. in my ankle. 8 1/2 in. in my adbominal area.my fat weight # was 169.8 and was 88.5 in November. I know I am going to need plastic also. I hope to lose another 68# or more still. I'm 6 mos. banded now and hope to lose another 40 to 60 lbs before my 1 year date..I know it is going to be hard.

    Soda

    I had soda about 5 times in a week. And than i started slimming and getting really sick. I even had blood come out in my slimm. I tried it again about two weeks later and again I started to slimm again so I dont do it any more. I know its not good for my body or band because my body tells me so...LOL!

    question(s) on exercising

    I have yet to workout at a gym as of yet, I enjoy walking out side and working at in my home since there is snow out side right now. on the 23rd of Jan. i will be at my 6 month post op point. i just started working on my abs about 3 weeks ago. I have found this great DVD called The Core preformance. You do the DVD with a stability ball. It is a great workout. You do it at your own pace. I also do other things like lift my legs up in the air striaght while im on my back and have someone push them down tword the floor trying to give rest. and than lifting my legs back up. I also do this side to side while my legs are being pushed. I have a 8 lbs ball that i also use to do crushes and trunk twist with. Now I also just sit and try to tighten my abs while i am watching TV for 15 minutes. The ball is a great way to workout your abs without getting on the floor... Hope that helps you some. OH! and try a boxing DVD. The twisting while punching is great also.

    How much do YOU lose between fills?

    After my fills I lose around 5 lbs a week for the first two weeks, by the 3rd. week i stall or lose less than 2 lbs. My 4th. week is my worse and I need another fill by that time.

  10. Happier? hmmmmm. I'm only 110 lbs down right now with at least another 80lbs or so to go. I can get up out of my chair without great pain or noise, I can play with my kids, I am off all my meds but 1, I workout 5 times a week, I can get out and visit friends, and go to my kids school sporting events without being embrassed for me and my kids. I also talk to a therapist every week to talk about my reasons for turning to food when I was depressed or upset. So my body is happier, my mind is getting happier and my kids are even happier than I am about my weight loss because they have their dad back to play with. My joy is coming from my comfort, my joy comes from not having to ride in a scooter at walmart when shopping with my family, my joy comes from not just sitting at home feeling sorry for myself and being able to help some of my new friends with their weight loss. I have been stuck in the house for 2 years, gaining weight for over 10 yrs. and not moving around at all, now i can go outside for over a hour just walking around and feeling the wind against my face. Maybe lossing weight doesnt make you happier but it gives me new abilitity to live and have fun like I havent in many years, which by the way makes me very happy!

    Lexapro 10 mg?in band

    I am also taking lexapro and i havent had a problem losing any weight as of yet.
  12. My names is Ty I was banded 7/23/08, I'm 5"9' and at my heaviest i was 386lbs. I was at 285 the last time I checked and will be going in to see the Dr. in the morning to get my new weight. When I started my goal weight was 250lbs. and than i moved it to 225lbs. i would love to be around 200lbs. So I have about another 80 lbs to go. I am hoping to be at 250 by my 43rd. B-day which is may 29th.
  13. So far my journey with my band is going pretty well, i was banded 7/23/08 and i love my band. Willpower was easier for me at the start of my journey because i was too scared to test my band, i knew what i was surpose to eat and not eat and I stayed to my Dr. directions. I started walking a lot and it seemed to burn off the lbs. Now that I've been banded for 5 mos. now i have had somethings i shouldnt of had, but when i do have those this i make sure i work my butt off the next 1 to 2 days. I have never over done it with something I wasnt surpose to have. I'm lucky that I have great restiction and i couldnt eat a lot of anything if i wanted to. I get my water, protien and veggies in, I hardly ever eat any kind of white flour products and i pretty much use only splenda as my sweetner. I'm not sure if this helps you or not but just remember sometimes your willpower will let you down, the question is what will you do when it happens? Dont let it become a habit and try to figure out how many extra cals. you took in and work them suckers off. Good luck.

    Not losing

    I started out at 386lbs., I was banded 7/23/08. I was wondering if you still have restriction with your band. I had some time when I was not losing any weight or losing and gaining the same 5lbs. I went in and got another fill from my Dr. I went on clear and full liquids for a few days and it kicked up my weight lose. I dont workout as much as you but i found that when I took it a little easy for a week and let my body get use the weight lose and shock of the big changes my body seemed to start losing and after the rest. I was walking 4 to 5 miles a day. I think it was too much at times and my body needed more recovery time. I'm over 100lbs down now and have a appointment for a fill in the morning. I'm a little concerned because I am still losing weight from my last fill but my restriction isnt as tight as it was. I hope things get better for you and if you dont have restriction right now see if you can get another fill. Have a good one.

    new admission to 100 lb club

    Congrats skinnymike, I just hit 100lbs. off myself, but I have a lot of more weight to lose. I was banded 7/23/08 and I hope the next 80 to 100lbs comes off at this same rate. Keep up the good work.
  16. Thank you so much for your comment. tell you husband the band is one the best things to ever happen to me. I hope it helps me live longer and give the ability to one play and run with my childrens and grandchildren.

  18. I also love the show, I watch it every week and use it as a way to motivate myself to try and work harder with my workout. I know the more I try to workout the more quicker the weight will come off. the day after they walked that hill for 14 hrs. I tried to walk some smaller hills near my home. I tried to increase my miles just a little more. I always seem to have a better workout on wednesday because of the show.

    I love my popcorn, i make sure I eat it slow and wait atleast 1 hr. before trying to drink anything. Enjoy you snack.

  21. I'm very thankful that most of you had a great turkey day. It was my first big holiday with my band and It just didnt go like I thought it would. I loaded up a very small amout of turkey, stuffing and pot. salad on my plate. I decided to try the turkey first. NOT GOOD! The turkey was very moist but i still couldnt handle eatting it. I took two bites and knew If i continued I would slimme. I stop for about 30 minutes and had a little dressing and mac & chez. I must say it wasnt that bad not eatting as much. The cravings werent as bad as I thought they would be. It was so cool to have my family notice to big change in my body. All i heard all day was how nice I looked. I see my wifes family today and i hopefully they will notice the changes also. I wouldnt of thought that having people notice my weight loss and body change would give me such an high, even better than food did. It just made me want to work even harder to get the rest of this fat off. I wore a old pair of pants and shirt that i bought and found out later i couldnt fit them. The pants where almost too big and the shirt was just right. That was soooo cool i almost cried. I just kept looking in the mirror all day long. So i hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy your view.
