    My Texas Sleevers

My BMI was a 45 and I had not lost a significant amount of weight. I think it took about 2 weeks for approval. I was told that it takes a bit longer at the end of the year because a lot of people do it now. My nurse advocate told me that because mine was at the end of June it won't be too long a wait. I was anxious as well so I do get it! Hang in there.

    Food aversion?

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. You are right about it being a new journey for us all. I do know that a lot of it is in my head and I have made an appointment for a session. I think too that I am seeing the results and I love what I see, but I want it to happen sooner. Food is such a pleasure in our society and was always a comfort for me, so I think that I just have to reconsider my relationship with food! Good luck on your journey as well.
  3. I got mine at Sam's Club. They are by Premiere protein and I just couldn't stomach them. The aftertaste is what bothered me the most. My doctor suggested that I dilute them, but that didn't help....I even put some Crystal Light in there and nope it was just not for me. Even though I didn't care for them, I hope it works out for you because it is really helpful in terms of getting your protein in.

    Pre-Op weight loss.

I lost 4 pounds total in six months. I would lose a few pounds, then gain them right back. It was never ending. My insurance and doctor didn't have an issue with it because I was on the Weight Watchers program. They didn't have a specific amount of weight to lose. I lost 10 pounds on the pre-op diet, 2 weeks before surgery. I am about 4 months out and I am down 62 pounds.
  5. My surgery date was 6/27/17, so I am about 4 months out. I have not had an easy time of it. I have been sick a bit and I have developed an aversion to food. I literally have to force myself to eat. I eat around 500 to 600 calories a day and I only eat things that have protein because I am worried about getting all my protein in. Literally most everything I put in my mouth makes me sick. My doctor has told me to add carbs to my diet because I am starving myself. I really don't mean to, but I literally hate the thought of eating. I know that it is probably a mental struggle that I am having. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you overcome it?
  6. I am with you! I find no enjoyment in anything right now except for the fact that I am down 31 pounds. I have been sick and any time I eat something I get reflux. I know that this is temporary and I was told to expect this, but it kind of sucks. The only thing that keeps me going is the weight loss. Also, I am obsessed with how many calories and protein I am getting....oh well at least its a healthy addiction.

Having trouble eating 3 weeks post op

Thank you so much for your comprehensive answer....I appreciate it. I have been keeping hydrated, but I am probably low on carbs. The only things I can get down are yogurt (some carbs) and sometimes hummus. It depends on the time of day. I called the nutritionist last week, but no response so I am calling the doctor today. 8. WFH is work from home....I literally took 2 days off and I am regretting it.

    Liquid phase postop

I was 2 weeks full liquids and now this week I am supposed to do pureed....having a hard time with that...I can get down hummus sometimes without getting sick and yogurt.
  10. I was sleeved on 6/27/17. I am supposed to be on the pureed stage of food, but I just can't tolerate it. My stomach hurts and I want to vomit. Is this normal? I drink 2 protein shakes a day and I drink a liquid protein as well as other drinks. I am down 30 lbs, but I feel dizzy and listless. Am I doing something wrong?
