Did you notice a big difference in appetite after your first fill?
thunderstorm816 replied to BobbieDoll's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first fill on 5/21. You will notice that u get full faster and u stay full longer. Also alot of the foods u could eat prior to the fill will bother u after. Just remember after your fill...SMALL BITES and CHEW CHEW CHEW. If u dont u will get pain when it gets stuck going down. -
string hanging out of port incision
thunderstorm816 replied to webbgirl259's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the suture thingt too. In my port incision. I also had it before when I had my gallbladder removed. I didnt know what it was back then. Kinda freaked me out when I seen a string sticking outta my belly button and when i tugged on it I could feel it pulling on my muscles inside. I just gave it time and it dissolved inside and eventually came out one day when I tugged on it. When I seen it on my port incision I just kept lightly tugging on it till it dissolved enough on the inside to release it. The only thing is the incision wont heal over it atleast mine wont so I still have a small spot on my port incision that is healing -
Well I went for my first fill today and it wasnt as bad as I was expecting. The day started off good when I got on the scale to find out I lost 2.5 more pounds since the last visit...which is amazing considering I went to Philadelphia this past weekend and ate half of a cheesesteak(bread and all)...thats how I knew I needed the fill LOL. My surgeon doesnt numb the skin before he does the fill which I am thankful for because I think the lidocaine burns more then the little pinch the fill needle made. Was not so bad. I had 2.5 cc in there already from surgery and he added another 1.5 so I have a total of 4 cc in there now. So let's see if the weightloss goes any faster now. Havent thrown up yet from this band and hopefully wont now that i am tighter:confused2:

What Vitamins to take!
thunderstorm816 replied to kristylyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me that the children's vitamins didn't have enough of the vitamins u need. I found Chewable Centrum vitamins at Walmart. They are adult strength. They are orange flavored and not too bad tasting. They have the adult doses of the vitamin and minerals u need. I am also on the lookout for a good tasting chewable calcium. anyone have any ideas on that one??:confused2: -

Name: Tracy Date you were banded: April 7, 2008 Weight loss to date: 21.5 pounds so far that I know off don't usually weigh myself...go to the doctors on 5/21 How are you feeling? I am feeling fantastic...I havent had a cigarette since my surgery and I have been out walking atleast 3 miles 3-4 times a week and as of this week I joined the gym. I have so much more energy then I have ever had. I am so happy that I had this done. Debating on if I should get a fill on the 21st or not since I stay full for atleast 4 to 5 hours. -
The doctor I work for wanted me to ask this question on here. Has anyone tried eating swedish fish??..u know the gummy red fish candy. It is fat free and sometimes I get this craving for something sweet and I wanted one and she said I couldn't have one. Was wondering if anyone has tried one and if they think it would possibly get stuck and cause u to have to have a EGD done to remove it.... Input would be appreciated.

Swedish Fish???
thunderstorm816 replied to thunderstorm816's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do pretty good with eating the healthy food and staying away from the junk food. Just every once in while u get a craving for something sweet ( especially around that time of the month) and u just need that sweet little snack. I love swedish fish too but I am too afraid to try one for fear of getting it stuck. And I certainly don't want to have a tube shoved down my throat to retrieve it LOL. -
WOW the HOFF looks like he is packing lol..maybe that should be our logo LMAO:w00t:

Pain in chest from lap band
thunderstorm816 replied to CellPhoneMan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had similar pains in my chest after surgery. I called my doctor and he wanted me to go to the ER to have a chest CT done to rule out a blood clot. Lucky for me it was just spasms in my esophagus and diaphram. To be safe you should call your doctor and see if he wants u to have a CT done. A blood clot is nothing to mess with. Hope all is well -
Puddin I was also a Duranie. Me and my sisters bedroom was covered with posters ...walls and ceiling..my mother just loved us lol. My favorite was Roger Taylor though. Funny thing too is that my oldest son was born on Roger Taylors birthday..how cool is that. I miss the 80's ...and it kinda shocks me that it is kinda coming back now with the kids...my son acts like Bon Jovi is like some new singer LMAO

Glad everything went well Steve. You will be healed and feeling great in no time.

I slept on my side the day I had surgery..i just asked the nurse for an extra pillow and blanket and propped myself. I am a little over 2 weeks out from surgery and I can lay on my stomach with no problem what-so-ever. My port must be in a good spot that I dont notice it too much

Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
thunderstorm816 replied to 80s_chick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
DO not weigh urself got atleast a week or so after surgery...u are full of IV fluids so u wont see much weight loss and it will depress ya.. Dont become obssessed with the scale. Do it once a week or so. Ohh and when ur monthly visitor comes to town u will probably go up a few pounds because most women bloat then so dont freak out about that either ok.. Just a forwarning lol -
Smaller Clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thunderstorm816 replied to kyteachjules's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Our support group has the clothing exchange. It is nice to get a new outfit or two. If u don't have alot of money to shop for clothes u can always go to Goodwill or the Salvation Army to get slothes while u are "Shrinking". That will save u some money till u get to a size that u want to but a wider wardrobe in. Just an idea for ya all -

Incisions Pulling Apart?
thunderstorm816 replied to travellvr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of mine pulled apart a bit too..not deep but I had the skin glue...Doctor said it looks good all I do is put some neosporin on it to help it heal. It will just scar a little wider then the other scars. Just keep it clean and put some of that antibiotic cream on it. -
No drinking through straws?
thunderstorm816 replied to KimQ714's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are not suppose to drink thru a straw because u swallow more air when u swallow. Believe me I forgot and drank a whole drink over a few hours time thru a straw and I paid for it later that night. I was so gassy and my intestines rumbled all night long. Wont do any damage to ya but it is uncomfortable when u are that gassy -
Had my post op check in with the doctor this am and I am down 17 lbs since before surgery and preop diet..woohoo. 17 pounds gone forever and I never wanna see them back again. My friends have said u can see it in my face and neck and my ring is too big for my ring finger now. Now if it will just melt off of my gut we will be in business. HEE HEE. Looks Like everyone is doing really well and losing about the same amount. Way to go fellow April Avengers
