Thanks fairie.. I did call the doctor on Sunday and they sent me for bloodwork. My levels are low and I just started progesterone supplement last night (which by the way makes u dizzy as all get out) and have to go today around noon for another test to see if my levels are rising. Hoping for the best. This will be baby number 3 for me ( my other 2 are 20 and 14) and was a complete surprise. Never had these problems with my other 2. Keeping my fingers crossed:thumbup: -
How forthcoming are you to people when they ask what you did to lose weight?
thunderstorm816 replied to catho72's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I am a nurse in a physician's office so lots of people see me on a daily basis. I tell anyone who asks me how I am losing the weight that I had lapband surgery. The doctor I work for asked me if I minded if she told the patients who were thinking about the surgery that I had it done and if they had questions to ask me. I don't mind at all. I share with them all my experiences. I have thrown so much business to the surgeon who did my surgery ...he needs to give me a kick back for all the business hee hee -

I have had 2 fills and I HATE needles. They were not bad at all or I wouldnt go back for more lol. Just a tiny prick and pressure thats all. My first one was done in the Xray dept. and the second one was done in his office. Made me lift my legs up in the air which tightens ur tummy mucsle and he found the port right away and one stick presto add a little saline and done. Slap a bandaid on ya drink some water...and u are out the door. No need to worry about it at all.

Calling all April Bandsters!!!!
thunderstorm816 replied to Turler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don I have felt that feeling...usually when I am bad and take a drink too early after eating lol. But yes I can feel the food go thru my band and I know I am not at my restriction I need. I go next week for a fill. I just get frustrated cuz I have lost 33 pounds and was hoping it would of been more by now but hey at least I am keeping that 33 pounds off. -

It all depends on what u can tolerate after the surgery. I can eat red meat (hamburger, steak) if chewed well. I also can eat a little bit of nuts again if i chew them up well. I cannot handle bread so I do not eat it although I love it. I try to eat my protein first then my veggie. Nowhere does it say u can never again have a sweet. U can have something sweet here and there u just dont want to make it a habit or u will not lose the weight. I will occasionally have some sugar free ice cream. I have tried soda but it makes me very gassy so I stick to my diet ice tea which I handle the caffeine in that fine. -
So what is everyone doing for exercise?? I joined the gym last month and have been steadily increasing how much I do up there. Tonight after work I am gonna take my first Deep water aerobic class. This should be fun. I am hoping that my lack of weight loss lately is actually due to me working out at the gym and firming things up.. hopefully. What is everyone else doing?? Have u noticed that u have more energy even though u are eating less..that just amazes me.

HI Karen I am in Windber which is right by ya... I had my surgery on April 7th and am doing very well.. Which doctor are u having to do your surgery. I had Dr. Marley. I do know that Dr. Darcy Duke is now doing the procedure at Conemaugh Hospital. -
OK got a question for ya all. I have noticed that since my surgery and since I have been losing weight that my depression has seemed to have gotten worse. I am on medication for it but it is not working as well as it was before. I can cry at the drop of a hat and everything just sets me off. I am sooo down in the dumps. I have read somewhere that fat stores estrogen and when u lose weight quickly u get that rush of estrogen on ur system which can throw off the hormonal balance. I had to call my doctor about increasing my medication to see if that helps. Is anyone else having this problem or am I just a ball of hormones on the edge???

How do you change your wardrobe so often and not spend a fortune?
thunderstorm816 replied to mphsmommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I have received alot of hand me downs from other friends who are also losing weight. I have a fellow bander who gave me all her scrubs that she shrunk out of (lol) so I dont have to buy all new scrubs. Also u can get alot of nice clothes at Goodwill or the second hand stores. There is no need to buy brand new clothes when u are changing sizes so quickly. U can splurge and buy urself a nice outfit at a special goal. But I wouldnt spend alot money on every size u end up getting to. -
What DON'T they tell you?
thunderstorm816 replied to TxShtKicker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love my band. I researched the band before getting it also. I am a nurse so it is my nature to investigate it before I got it. The only way u get the "stuck hotdog" feeling is if u overeat or u dont chew well enough. I have told numerous people about my band. I work in a doctors office and have become kind of a spokesperson per say for the band. They are amazed at the weight I am losing and how well I am doing since the surgery. They ask me questions about the surgery and are motivated by my weight loss. I am not ashamed that I had the surgery. I am proud that I am finally losing the weight. And keeping it off. I am more active now then I have ever been.
