  1. Congratulations on your surgery date. I live in Round Rock, Tx and I'm 50 years old. I was banded on March 25th. My initial weight was 388 and I have not really started losing my hair. I think there are a lot of factors that make that happen. Just make sure you get your protein and take your vitamins daily. As far as flabby skin, I think that it is just something we're going to have. I have started water areobics and hopefully that will help with some of the excess skin. But I'm with you, it will be better than carrying all this weight around. Good Luck, I'm sure you're going to like your band. I certainly do.

Tried to get a fill, but...

I was banded on March 25th. I have the same problem. I just had my 3rd fill today, but the 1st time they couldn't find my port. Then I went a week later and had it done by x-ray and they still had trouble because my port is turned also. I was so discourage because everything else had gone so well with my surgery and recovery that it bummed me out that they couldn't give me a fill like everyone else. Well like I said I just had my third fill and they have all been by x-ray and they still have a problem because they say my port is floating around to much. I just don't get upset anymore, because I know they will eventually find the port and I'll get my fill. Just hang in there, hopefully it will all be OK.
  3. Dperez, I had my surgery done in Austin, but Dr. John Mardsen did my surgery. He also has an office in Dallas/Fort Worth area. He's is a great surgeon. You might check in with him. I was banded on March 25th and I have lost 50 lbs.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

To all of you that are losing your hair, I'm not losing mine as of yet. I keep wondering if I am going to start, but years ago when I was on phen/fen and lost 100 lbs, I was losing my hair. My doctor told me to take 2 vitamins a day and that would help with the hair loss. Since then I have always taken 2 vitamins a day. Are you all getting your vitamins in? I've heard some doctors say, it's because we're not getting enough protein, but I don't think that is correct. Everyone in the March Thread is doing wonderful. Keep up the good work.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

SpecialK, what a great idea of taking the food bank food in the amount of weight you have lost. I love the idea. I could see how it would get expensive though. I don't have a WII fit either. Hot down here in Texas. Everyone keep up the good work.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I went for my 2nd fill last Tuesday. I do feel a restriction this time. All seems to be going well. I had lost 43 lbs. at the time of my fill. We all have to remember that we chose the lap band to lose our weight slower than having the gastric bypass. Even I have to step back and realize that I'm losing weight, maybe not as fast as I want to, but I'm losing and not gaining. Even if I'm not losing every day, I'm still not gaining any weight. That's the miracle of the lap band. I love my lap band.

March 25th bandsters - check in

Hi! My name is Brenda and I was banded on March 25th also. I have lost 20.5 lbs since surgery and I have started eating food. I haven't had any problems with anything that I have eaten so far. My first fill date is next Wednesday, April 23rd. I have been on real food for a week now, and I haven't lost anymore weight. Don't understand why, because I'm only eating my 1/2 of food. Oh, well, I know it will eventually come off. Look forward to chating with you all.
