    2nd Day Post-Op

I'm day 2 too and my experience sounds similar. Gas when I try to drink water. But it does seem to be getting better--less gas.the warm soup actually feels good in my tummy.

    Post Op Anxiety or Depression

I'm worried about feeling this way too. My surgery is Monday. I was thinking if looking at bad pictures if myself to remind myself why I'm doing this. I have one of me on a paddleboard, almost sinking it, haha. I was also thinking of keeping a list next to my bed of things I'll be able to do: ziplining, horseback riding, amusement parks, running... It sounds like initial anxiety or reget is normal but it doesnt last. I think also reading through the experiences of others who have adjusted might help. Lots of people say each day is better.

    Nobody comments on weight loss?

I hope this happens to me! I hate the idea of people commenting on my body, even positively. Maybe people are noticing but don't want you to feel self conscious.
  5. I'm August 7th too! I have trouble getting PMs. They don't show up on my phone. But I'd love to keep in touch here. I'm day 7 of the liquid diet. No solids not even yogurt. I've sort of adjusted but last night my family ate in front of the TV and I just had my shake and I just wanted a piece if cheese or a carrot. So hard! I get full liquids after surgery so I'm looking forward to cream of mushroom soup with the mushrooms strained out.

    Any vegetarians or vegans?

I'm a vegetarian but I haven't had surgery yet. Maybe in August if insurance approval comes through quickly. I think it's easy to get protein as a vegetarian. I make lentils a lot, lentil soup or lentils with burrata a la smitten kitchen, bean burritos, omelets or frittata, egg salad, hummus, quinoa and black bean salad, ethiopian yellow lentils. 10. How are your energy levels in the weeks and months after surgery? I have a very busy fall and I'm worried about having the energy to get my work done. My options are surgery in early August with 2.5 weeks off (but liquid diet for the week of extended family vacation) or mid-August with 1.5 weeks off (still requires a few days of liquid diet on vacation) or wait until next summer, which I don't want to do. My job can be stressful. I can take some half days but I also have some required long days. But if I have to be on the liquid diet during the whole vacation, I will have to tell my whole family and I might be cranky. So my questions are: Will having an extra week to recover help me start back full throttle? So much so that it's worth being on the liquid diet during the whole vacation? How will my energy levels be after a few weeks and months? How long before you could work long days with decent energy?

    Energy levels after VSG?

Thanks everyone! I'm going to call tomorrow and see if it's possible to schedule for a week earlier. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. I'm pre-op but I'm thinking of explaining any lost weight by saying that I worked with my doctor to develop a plan. I hope they won't ask for more details. I agree that talking about it reduces the stigma and gives people a more realistic idea of what it takes to lose large amounts. But I just don't feel comfortable telling people. I commend those who are honest! Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

    August 2017

I need to buy the vitamins still. I have the upper GI study this morning. Slowly making my way through the appointments. I'm in Pennsylvania. It's been either hot or rainy here which makes it harder to get outside for exercise. I'm trying to lose weight but also have my favorite carbs one more time... knowledge_governs, when do you start your liquid diet? Your surgery is scheduled about a week after mine, I see. I can't push mine back because I need to get it done before school starts since I'm a teacher. Are you done with the appoinrments? I have a bunch tomorrow-- nutrition and exercise.

    August 2017

I'm tentatively scheduled for August 15. It feels very quick because my insurance did not require a waiting period. I saw the surgeon last week and I think I can finish all the appointments by July 20. The only issue is that I have to be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks and the first 3 days are during a family vacation with people I don't plan on telling. What is everyone doing about telling people--especially with the liquid diet? Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app
