Hi! I'm Genelle. I'm 45 years old. I decided to Bariatric Surgery because I want a healthier life. I've struggled with being large most of my life. The health threats are just way too much for me not to do this! My family tree has plentiful diabetics, most who lost their legs, all their lives. Some who've suffered heart attacks, strokes and general poor health due their weights. My father was a Type 2 Diabetic who passed at 52 in his sleep. All his uncles on his dad's side were diabetic too. They are the ones who lost legs and eyesight. At 38, I was diagnosed with type 2. I was 269 lbs. I was unhappy, I was scared and my dad had been gone for 10 years then. I started on a weight loss journey. I did my best to get healthy. I dropped from 269 to 169. 100 lbs, or roughly so, gone. It took me years to do it. Then I got arthritis in my knee. I had to stop walking so much. I stand all day for work and I can't be limping in pain all day in the pharmacy where i work. Over the past year and a half, I've gained about 50 lbs back. I don't want to live like this. I don't want to die like that...So, here we go!
