    Help with dehydration

I haven't had surgery yet, it's April 10th, but I've been preparing and bought an 8oz baby bottle that i plan to use to track how many oz i drink plus I've heard that sometimes the smell of certain drinks may bother some and the baby bottle opening is so small. My nose doesn't capture the smells.....I've been experimenting haha good luck i hope you're able to get in more fluids.

    Hair loss

This has been on my mind since my surgery is just a few weeks away. I have really long hair, I already lose some due to my PCOS and it's already thin so I'm hoping I don't end up losing a huge amount and I don't want to cut it I want to avoid that if possible lol I've been taking the multivitamins my surgeon recommended. So any other ideas that have helped anyone on here is greatly appreciated!

    SURGERY DATE-April 3rd

Congrats on your date!! I'm April 10th! I have a hard time with the protein shakes I'm not a fan of thick drinks but my nutritionist gave me some ideas to work with. I don't do cottage e cheese either, so I figured during the pureed stage I'll mostly stick with eggs and triple zero yogurt. I guess we'll find out when we get to that point what agrees with our bodies.

Gas pain and sugar free products

I have question... I'll be starting my pre op liquid diet match 27th. Do /did you guys use the sugar free jello you mix yourself or the pre made sugar free jello cups? I wasn't sure if it makes a difference on what you use as long as it's sugar free.

    Young, nervous, but wanting change...

Hi Kristen! I am right there with ya. I'm 36 and a mom to two young boys, my biggest fear is leaving them. I'm excited for surgery I find out Thursday when my date is, but I'm terrified of complications I've only had one other major surgery (breast reduction) and a few small surgeries. I had complications after my BR the surgeon hut an artery and didn't know it until I was in recovery luckily my husband notice something wasn't right, he literally saved my life! So now I'm so nervous about this one and the fact that when I had my BR (I was 27) I didn't have any health issues other than my PCOS and fibromyalgia, now I have a leaky mitral valve to add to the mix so I'm a bit more concerned but it's also a big factor in WHY I'm having WLS, less weight is less stress on the heart , so many what ifs running through my head, I'll be asking my surgeon so many questions during my pre op on Thursday lol but my need and want to see my children grow up out weighs that fear by a million. The best of luck to you!!!

    Pain while eating

I haven't had my surgery yet, I go for pre op next Thursday. But when going over eating after surgery my nutritionist said to use baby spoons as it would help from taking in to much at once. Has anyone tried that?

    Food Restrictions

Thanks!! I find out next week when my surgery is, but during these last 5 months I eliminated all pasta, bread rice ect. I substitute with cauliflower rice And mashed cauliflower which is pretty satisfying I don't feel like I'm missing anything. I've just been absorbing all the information I can from everyone's after care posts.

    Food Restrictions

Has anyone tried any of the bariatric foods or snacks they sell? Weather is from this site or one like bariatric direct? Just curious.

    Phentermine after VSG your thoughts

I wouldn't do it. I took it years ago for a very short period didn't like the feeling it gave me, not long after taking it I started getting palpitations found out I had a leaky heart valve and now on two heart pills a day, weather the two are related I don't know all I know is before then I never had an issue with my heart. Just step up your exercise and start logging your calorie intake if you stopped.
  22. Everything was submitted to my insurance this past Thursday and this morning bariatrics called saying I was approved! I was shocked I wasn't expecting to hear anything for a few weeks. My pre op apt is February 22. So few questions, what's your go to unflavored Protien powder that you add to your drinks /food? I recently tried a sample packet of unjury.. Not a fan lol has anyone tried any of the New Direction products? I like the pre mixed premier shakes out of all the ones I've tried. What does your after surgery intake look like? I know everybody differs but do you go by a eating/drinking log to keep you on track? Set your phone on timers to remind you to eat /drink to make sure your properly hydrated or getting the right amount of protein? I've been looking up bariatric weekly sample menus to get an idea. Did any of you use compression socks after surgery? I know these are totally random questions but thinking out loud lol the only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask right?
  23. Oh yes lol I've been to 3 of them. Which was great because each class covered a lot of topics
  24. Bariatric just called I got approved!!! That was insanely fast!! My pre op is Feb 22. Excited!!
  25. I finally finished all my requirements! Everything has been submitted to my insurance..... The wait begins! This is going to be the longest 2-4weeks lol. To be honest before I started this process I never thought about WLS, then my doctor recommended it due to my PCOS, insulin resistance my heart condition (leaky valve), family history of diabetes (I'm pre diabetic) and heart attacks (my dad and uncle had one last year, both my grandfather's died of heat attacks) . I always thought it was the 'easy way out' but seriously since going through the last 5 months of nutrition visits, Trainor visits, changing my eating habits, logging my food, all the tests, the support groups ect... it's def not easy, its a complete lifestyle change. You gotta be 100% committed. I'm glad I started this journey. I'm thinking surgery will be sometime in April. Anyone else waiting for approval!?.... Impatiently haha
