You are right Iona. The intubation tube can cause some irritation on your throat. I should go away in a few days.

Must-haves post surgery?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to Seerae3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't buy too many shakes. Your taste might might change. I couldn't stand the strawberry flavored shakes after surgery but was fine with them before. Had to give away a whole box of Optifast strawberry shakes. -
You look so beautiful!

One week! Is this really happening?!
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to Smooter's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your decision Sandra. I found the first 5 days of 14 preop really hard. After that I was fine. I know this sounds cliché but I only got through it by taking one day at a time. I went to bed early to avoid the temptation of snacking in the evening hours. Sleeved July 28 2017 and doing well. -
I had my favorite food each day for one week before preop. Wouldn't call this food funeral because these were meal times. Sleeved July 28 2017.

6 weeks out
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to dhartgrove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do. I have tried to drink less than 30 mins after eating and the water stopped in my chest. I thought I was going to explode. I learned my lesson. -

Reflux
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to Hopefull2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hernia that I was. I was not aware of prior to surgery. I have heard other people who had had hernia repair and still experience reflux for the first few weeks. On this forum, some people say they have had to be on an antiacid medication for a few weeks after surgery. -
Is Constant Vomiting Normal ☹️?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to ILOVETEXAS210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not a silly question at all. I had the sleeve done on July 28. I vomited once day 1 post op. Haven't vomited at all since then and I don't take anything for nausea. This has been my personal experience. Sometimes there is a medical history context to those who have the vomiting issues. It is not normal to continuously vomit years after the surgery. -
JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to dreamingsmall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get very tired too after I eat. I am back at work and can't nap most of the time but I could use a nap after every meal. -

PrayingForWeightLoss replied to She_red_dee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was not aware that I had a hiatal hernia. My surgeon repaired during my sleeve surgery. I have had no complications from both surgeries. -

Pain after surgery
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to graziellabs's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Personally I had a lot of rib cage pain just after surgery because of the gas. That resolved Day 2 with a lot of walking. With my incisions, it did feel like I had done 200 sit ups. The pain was not unbearable. Like any surgery that involves incisions, you have some pain but it gets better everyday. I am 17 days post op with absolutely no pain now. -

Don't let anything scare you. We are honest here about our struggles. That is why we get upset when people say that weight loss surgery is the "easy way out." It is hard work. Good luck on your process and surgery. -
After Surgery Taste Issues
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to shellyv0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My tastes changed too. Protein shakes are too sweet and the strawberry optifast shake makes me want to vomit. -

2nd Day Post-Op
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to ladycharizar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 14 days post op and the big incision on the right is much better but was quite tender for the first 10 days. The other small ones are totally healed. I was not thirsty either post op but just make yourself drink ladycharizar. Dehydration will set it fast and it is a major setback with our condition. Sip sip sip. Southernbellair79 is right about the fluid intake. Thankfully I haven't experienced nausea at all since discharge which was 2 days post op. Drinking fine and starting purée diet today! Small steps. We will get there!
