I am 6 weeks post op and had a terrible cold right after surgery. My doctor told me to take Tylenol only. I felt awful but since it is viral, it worked itself out my body eventually.

Just try to walk off the gas as much as you can. Trust me it gets better. 7 weeks post op and I can understand where you are right now.

When will i be able to drink good amounts of water
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to Pinkaranda's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes you will. Water tasted horrible for me the first 2 to 3 days. Can you flavor it somehow? Keep trying, don't risk dehydration. Hope all goes well. I am about 7 weeks post op and now I drink water with no issues. -
Just cannot eat

Saw the dietitian and doctor today. HW 233. SW 222. Sleeved 7/28/2017. Today I weighed 205. Small steps. The dietitian said to just keep trying and start adding steamed vegetables to break up the monotony of fish and chicken. -
What did you wish you knew before surgery?

Don't stock shakes. Your taste might change after surgery and you will hate some flavors. -
Just cannot eat

I meet with the dietitian and bariatrician today. Hope I can get some pointers. Yesterday I managed to eat a decent piece of steamed fish. Just boiled it in fish stock with no spices. Will eat another piece today. -

Walk, walk and walk to get rid of the gas. Keep up with your liquids because dehydration is a big risk with our condition after surgery. It will get better. -

I hear you Alli589. It's the feeling of being completely turned off from food. I am happy I am not hungry but I just want to eat to have energy and avoid stalls like you rightly said. -
Band to sleeve success stories, please.
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to themaestroswife's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Themaestroswife, I hear you about the technique of suturing the bottom of the stomach to the top. I was sleeved July 28 2017 but about 2 years ago, I was thinking of the band then and consulted with a doctor in Australia who told me he did that extra "stitching." I am a clinician myself so I researched and asked around medical circles. While not illegal, I hear it causes too much scarring. I went with a different doctor for my sleeve. The band doctor spoke so proudly of the stitching and borderline insinuated that he "invented" it. He had a godlike demeanour to him and I just didn't feel comfortable with him. From your experience with the band and scarring, seems like a good choice. -

Sleeve revising to Bypass already feeling like a failure
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to chunkymunkey916's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Bless you dear. Sending hugs to you. Obviously you have had a difficult life. Everything was against you with significant changes in your life. Regarding your weight regain, experience can be a good teacher. This may be your secret to success this time around. Without telling you what you should do, just wanted to suggest counseling if that is something you haven't considered. Maybe dealing with the hurts that have been handed over to you could assist with some of the weight issues. I gained most of my excess weight while grieving so I can understand. I hope the bypass will go well. You sound like a good mom trying to do her best to get better for children. -
Regret but not regret
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to KateBruin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
KateBruin you have done a big part of this journey. Getting through the surgery that is. I am 4 weeks post op. I did not experience regret but I have heard some people do. I can understand how feelings of regret can set it. It is a tough journey. As l said, I did not regret but one day in week 2 I was close to tears. I just couldn't drink ......One. More. Shake! It may be of little comfort right now but believe me when I say that it gets better. Give yourself a few days and you will begin to get used to your new tummy. That's why when I hear someone say that WLS is the " easy way out," I feel like punching them in the throat. It is not the easy way out. It's still hard work. -
Just want to cry
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to taylorfulfer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No judgement at all. We are all strugglers. Don't eat egg as hard as it is. The risk of food getting stuck in the incision internally is not worth it. Stay strong. Cry if you feel like.thats understandable. I am 4 weeks post op. It gets better with time. You have done very well going through the surgery. -

Pureed or blenderized food ideas
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to lauratro's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I hear you Lauratro. I just graduated to soft yesterday. I was so tired of eggs and beans. I did add canned chicken with a bit of mayo or canned tuna with avocado.
