PrayingForWeightLoss replied to sleevemebabyy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tylenol was fine for me. Even had had it IV while still in hospital. Oral Tylenol was on my discharge meds. -
Weight gain any helpful ideas
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to Jakebreak's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Jakebreak, what a horrible thing to happen to you. I don't know how it feels to lose a child and hope I never go through that and my children bury me instead. There is no doubt that weight loss falls to the wayside while you do the heard work of grieving. So sorry for the terrible loss. Have you tried talking to a dietitian to kickstart your weight loss back? As introversion suggested, some psychologist visits might help. Hope you start losing everyone weight again. Best of luck . -

What is a non-food activity your REALLY looking forward to?

Fluffy, you nailed it especially about wearing temperature appropriate clothes. That is one of my biggest frustrations. I dress to cover up my rolls. -
Valuable insight
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to PrayingForWeightLoss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This a post I made to remind myself when I face my own struggles especially during a stall. Nowhere in my post did I say this is happening here. This is me reminding myself what this surgery is about. If it applies to someone else they might draw inspiration from it. I have seen others posting that they feel they are not doing well and losing at the same as others. These are the people this may possibly apply to. -
Beginning My Journey...

Surgery Cancelled and Giving Up
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to Karleena's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am happy to hear this update Karleena! I have been thinking of you. Let's hope this uncaring doctor clears you and you take your healthcare somewhere else where someone else actually cares. I know to say "hang in there " sounds cliché but I think that's my only advice right now. Can't wait to hear your surgery date in your futures updates!!! -
Surgery Cancelled and Giving Up
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to Karleena's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Karleena, you haven't failed anything. You did everything right as you were told. Other people failed to do their part. If you happen to read this and what the other wonderful people here have also written, please just go and see the doctor again and clarify the diagnosis and paperwork even if it doesn't make sense this was not clarified before today. You have come so far and invested your money as well as emotions into all your this. I cannot imagine how it feels to have this BS thrown at you today. Please just go to the appointment with the GP and get clearance. After that you don't need to go back to him again if you wish not to after treating you this way. So sorry you are going through this nightmare. -
I was cleared for soft raw veggies at 7 weeks. Like SippinAintEasy rightly said, chew chew chew. Didn't have any problems. Still holding off on hard veges such as carrots and celery.

Whats to young for bariatract surgery
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to AsianBeauty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From a clinical point of view, your friend must consult with paediatric specialists because there is no blanket answer without the medical and psychological condition of the child being extensively factored into the decision. Pediatric cases involving weight loss surgery are very complex and I don't think strangers of the internets should be sources of advice for this. This is my own opinion as a clinician. Others may have different opinions. -

Is this my new normal?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to CJ Sunshine's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
No runs for me but you would think there is a drumbeat contest in my belly at times with no regard for time of the day. I was so embarrassed in a meeting recently when the chairperson was talking and my stomach was competing on who gets loudest. I just kept a straight face and the stomach noise became the elephant in the room. Nobody said a thing but I am sure everyone heard it loud and clear. I am about 9 weeks post op. -

Is anyone else buying and trying protein drinks, mixes etc pre-surgery?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to BunnyJean's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BunnyJean just consider not pre buying a lot of drinks. Your taste may change after surgery. Mine did. I loved the optifast strawberry shake preop but after the sleeve, I would rather starve than drink that if it was my only choice. I have heard other people here say the same. I must commend you though for your thorough research on the drinks. Hope all goes well with your surgery. -
What did you take to the hospital?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to Williwaw's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pyjama bottoms definitely. As we all know, hospital gowns are business in the front party at the back. You will need to wear a pair when you start walking off the gas on the ward. -

What did your doctor say about you having surgery?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to ceciliarose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you have accompanying medical issues then your doctor should be able to give you a referral with no problems. -
Appetite suddenly gone almost 3months out.
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to dreamingsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am going through the same thing but was worse at about the 6 week mark. I am 9 weeks out and I have learned that I have days I eat better than other days. On my "feed" days (I made that term up) I eat as much protein as I can up to about 70 g then on the not good days I supplement with one protein shake. If I get to 50g then that's not so bad. -

I'm not the one who wants to keep it a secret.
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to oopsydaisy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally, it has never been an option for me to publicly discuss my private health problems including weight loss surgery. Your husband might be one of those people who feel the same way. I have known patients who do not want to tell anyone that they have a diagnosis of depression for example. If someone asks why they look sad, they do not feel the need to say, "I have been diagnosed with depression and I am taking antidepressants for it." Should they elect not to divulge their diagnosis and treatment, that is not a lie. If taking power walks is not an optional answer, you can choose to say you have changed a lot of things in your life to get healthier. That's not a lie. However, if you strongly feel that you want to share, that's your choice and maybe you could have further discussions with your husband and let him know how your feel about the issue. Ultimately it is your body, your choice. Some have come to decisions to not share because of what life has taught us. It obviously doesn't apply to everyone. Hope your surgery goes well.
