What told you it was time to lose?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to kakatlady612's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That is so mean of him. We go through so much with people calling us names because of our weight struggles but having family calling you derogatory names must be even more painful. Well done on your weight loss and self care!! -
Eating Too Much Fat--How Much Is Too Much?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to FluffyChix's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I now stay away from Chinese foods too. I think it is the sauces too. They run through me or I vomit before they get down. -
Overall I didn't have pain issues but the big incision took a bit long to get to pain free status. I felt sort of a "catching" feeling if I turned my torso suddenly or make some movements. Remember we all have different pain thresholds. What others may define as general discomfort might be moderate to severe pain to others. If you do feel the pain is not subsiding to your tolerable levels, then of course talk to your doctor.

Opinions to stop losing weight
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to BrandiceLeSha's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You do you. We were judged when we we were obese and we get judged when we lose the weight. As long as your doctor says your bloods indicate you are healthy, continue to lose that weight. I am midway down to my goal/desired weight but I have said to myself that if I am healthy and continue to lose weight past my goal weight, I will take that happily. Well done on your weight loss by the way! It takes a big commitment in this journey to be as successful as you have been. -
Pro-stat
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to LighteningUpLiron's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I haven't tasted it myself but I know someone who did after she had excessive weight loss from complications after gastric bypass. She took it for exactly what you said, muscle loss. I would say make sure your kidney function is well within range because it is very concentrated in protein. If your dietitian or Doctor approves then go for it. -
Gastric Bypass Surgery Progress Pictures
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to JustFluffy's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Totally understand what you mean. I have lost 50lbs from a sleeve weight of 233 lbs. I don't see the difference and sometimes I wonder if people's reactions to my weight loss are genuine. My brain hasn't caught up with my body. I have a picture or 2 from before months WLS but none after because I have hated getting pictures taken for so many years. When I gather the courage, I will do side by side pics and maybe I can see the loss. You, sir, are dong the right thing by photo documenting your progress. In your pictures, anybody can look at them and easily see that you have lost a substantial amount of weight! -

When did people notice?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to YummyMummy303's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was 233 lbs and people started making comments at about 15-20. Now that I have lost 50lbs, people react even more over the top especially if they haven't seen me in a while. Sometimes I wonder if they are exaggerating or I really look that different. My brain hasn't caught up with my body so I still see myself as obese as I was before surgery therefore some of the reactions make me uncomfortable at times. I know I should learn to accept the compliments. I am sure it will come. -
It is very normal to feel the way. You got this. I was sleeved July of 2017 and the day of surgery I was calm as yet I was an emotional mess the week before. Congratulations on your decision to take care of yourself.

Pain post op
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to wick70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, that big incision hurt longer for me too. My surgeon said that is the one they pull out the removed stomach bit out through. Mine healed after about 3-4 weeks. I used to feel like a pull even with slight movement. It gets better. -
Understandably you are upset because you were mentally ready for your RNY. Don't look back because you have already done a lot of work to get here. Go for the sleeve, don't give up!

Plastics or no plastics ?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to dreamingsmall's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have lost close to 50 pounds now and don't have sagging belly skin but my boobs are sagging big time. The only reason I am not having plastics is because we can't afford it. Otherwise, I desperately need it. Very soon I I might be tripping on my boobs while I am walking. I guess I will have to look for a good bra to pack the boobs into. -

Why is it a secret?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to UndercoverDiet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I prefer to keep my health history private. I have had 2 c- ecstion, tubes tied, later a hysterectomy, dental surgery and a gastric sleeve. I am not ashamed of any of these procedures. I chose not to share that I had any one of them done because I am a private person. A few members know about the c-sections. Only my husband only knows about all the procedures I have had done and he respects my choice to keep this info private. Wish you well in your weight loss journey. -
What's your story if you are keeping it a secret?
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to Gotalose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a job where I could come straight back to work on Monday after having surgery the previous Friday. However I ended up taking 5 more days as sick leave because I had the flu as well. My weight loss is significant but has not been that drastic in a short time. I am now eating well and that would explain the loss to curious minds. I am generally a private person and don't share my medical history so I haven't felt the need or pressure to explain anything. -
Weight loss stalls
PrayingForWeightLoss replied to Karen801's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes I have. Weight stalls are very common. Just keep following your dietitian's advice. You will start losing again.
