Hi All. I had my surgery almost 3 weeks ago. I went off diabetes meds before surgery and I'm still off. My b.s. is running from 87 to 160. I am wondering if any of you had these kind of numbers at 3 weeks out and then still had remission after more weight was lost. I have had type 2 for 13 years. I was on metformin and victoza. Thanks! My doc said they pump you full of liquids in hospital. You might be still hanging on to water weight. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using BariatricPal mobile app -

Husband threatens divorce if I have surgery

Sounds like a boundary issue. I am learning to set healthy boundaries with my family. I have codependency. Melody Beatty's work helped me to set boundaries. http://melodybeattie.com Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using BariatricPal mobile app -

Full liquid diet and pouch stretching

Hi All. I am almost two weeks out and on what is called the full liquid diet by my surgeon. Basically, they added skim milk, 4 oz of yogurt, 2 oz of no sugar added applesauce and 2oz of sugar free pudding. The SF pudding, in my opinion, is not really necessary except for the texture and taste but I can live without it. I will say that before the RNY I thought the SF pudding wasn't sweet at all and now wow it sure is sweet lol. The dannon light and fit greek yogurt is healthier - no fat, lots of protein, etc. No sugar added applesauce is ok and the only fruit I can have so I eat it. Thing is, I don't really want to eat more than 800 calories a day so I'm cutting out the pudding and eating only the 4oz of yogurt and the 2oz of applesauce. My question is this. I am not gulping my protein shake or water but I sure can drink it faster than I could when I just had surgery. I also went to the movies and ate a whole yogurt over a period of an hour. Do you guys think that it can stretch my pouch if I drink down more than a sip at a time of liquid or eat that yogurt in an hour? Thanks. -

Antidepressants and gastric bypass
Nancy Geoghegan replied to Karen25's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Funny thing is I found out from the compounding pharmacist that even cymbalta can be compounded if I need it. 130 bucks a month though. I may end up going back to the cymbalta capsule some day. I know some people are doing that after months have passed. We are all so different and we must be our best advocates and never give up. God bless you. Antidepressants and gastric bypass
Nancy Geoghegan replied to Karen25's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi. I'm taking liquid effexor which treats anxiety disorder and panic attacks. Had gastric bypass on the 23rd. I am also on liquid wellbutrin for depression. I had both meds mixed at a compounding pharmacy. Just got the scripts for the pills and the oral liquid compounds from my primary care. I am not facing the anxiety or panic attacks so far. Today I did start having some depressive thoughts but my body is changing and adjusting to the meds and I am off many meds that I was taking. Sure there is the malabsorption issue but I know there are people who have had the gastric bypass and are doing well on anxiety and depression meds. If a professional has no clue then ditch them and find a doctor who will help. I will say though that I had to figure a lot of it on my own. For instance, I was on cymbalta which is an SNRI and it worked well for me for anxiety and panic attacks. I then looked up other SNRIs and found that effexor is one and can be compounded into liquid for. Cost $30 per month. Hope this helps! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using BariatricPal mobile app -

Surgery on Tuesday. Any suggestions?

Hello all. I have an idea of what to bring to the hospital and to have after my rny on Tuesday. Any tips of what I may not of thought of would be helpful. Thanks. You have all been so supportive! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using BariatricPal mobile app -
Hi All. So my surgery is scheduled for Tuesday next week. Last night I forgot to plug in my phone. When it was finally charged at 515 today I had a voicemail from the bariatric team coordinator. She said she needed to talk to me regarding my bloodwork. I have mild stage 2 kidney disease. I also have Fatty liver disease. I saw my labs last week on my portal. I knew they weren't great but I am on the preop ketosis diet and they did them without me fasting and I didn't get a chance to hydrate. These are the worst parts: urea nitrogen/creatinine ratio, serum 31.8 urea nitrogen, blood 35 potassium, serum 5.3 erythrocyte (RBC) count 3.95 egfr 55 aspartate aminotransferase (SGOT), serum 41 Alkaline Phosphatase, Serum/Plasma 57 alanine aminotransferase (SGPT), serum 39 So I call back, they are of course gone for the day. I am afraid this surgeon won't do the surgery. What other reason could they have to call me 8 days after these labs were done. I can't stop blubbering. Then I have to have stress test and a echo cardiogram tomorrow at 730. I also receive a call from the imaging people saying they don't have insurance approval. Of course they are closed too. I called the insurance company and they have no record at all for approval of a echo or stress test. The cards are stacked against me and I am fearful. The RNY was my only hope for a healthier life. I am miserable.

Change to type of surgery in surgey
Nancy Geoghegan replied to Nancy Geoghegan's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you for the support. I just can't have the sleeve because I already have severe GERD. God bless you and do well with your surgery! -
Hi All. One week to go til surgery! I just need to pass my echo and stress test for my heart. I had a lapband that was taken out 3 years ago. Now I am going in for the gastric bypass. Did any of you have any problems with the switch from the lapband to the gastric bypass? I have been told by the surgeon there may be adhesions/scar tissue.
