Gained almost all my weight back
Sammie1221 replied to koppeyc's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Again, I've said what I said and that's the end of that! Who don't like it bite it!!! If you choke that is your business. If most of us was half-way honest with ourselves you would be singing another tune. I did not lose all my weight and regained it back. The mindset, attitude and behavior must change for any long-term success there is no excuses. Stop the enabling poor behavior. The stomach is stretched out, so no matter how you diet is not going to be the same because, as soon as she switch back to solid food she may eat the same things again and regain because she still has to eat more to be satisfied...the store is not going to get any closer and she will still will be in grieving mode. Then what?!?! All of us knows how to tell our store to tug on peoples heart strings but the fact remain unchanged...excuses, excuses, excuses! Most of y'all are use to your own pity party anyway and never had a person be blunt with you. If I had change the tone or my words the passage would have slip pass like all the others. I don't need to be like everyone else and/or share the same opinion as others to be supportive. It's an opinion take it or leave no harm done. And I was very please with my weight. I did the surgery for medical reasons. I am very solid so I don't look like I weight 250 before surgery. I did it for my health and husband (he was concern about family health history). And fyi I do not wear panties...Thank you very much! p.s. If and when I do ask for people advice or opinion on here I hope that they will be blunt and honest no beating around the bush! -
Get the healthiest thing they have bake, broil, and/or steam. Remember no eating and drinking at the same time. However, Applebee's would not have been my choice JUST three months post-op, too risky. Too much process foods that are high in calories and sodium. Have a fabulous time!

Gained almost all my weight back

The truth hurts sometimes...and that's what open our eye to the lies and excuses we feed/stuff ourselves! the last I checked you stated on another thread that each person is entitled to their own opinion ( so why you commenting on mine?!). The doctor is not going to pretty it up for her either that's why she cancel her up coming appt. Let the original poster comment on my opinion because she asked openly for advise and I gave her mine as many others did. Thank you! -

What happen to family/ friends support, counselling? food is never the answer especially when you have struggled for years and now found relieve only to do it al over again. Pre-op diets may not work because you don't have the same momentum because there no surgery coming after. You may lose some but will always be in limbo because there is no accountability and if you cant do it for yourself then who would you do it for?!. Once you've open Pandora's Box its hard to go back! You need psychological help and not a diet. food is not to satisfy feelings and crisis but to nourish the body. As I write this note to you I am reading it for me too, so that I don't fall into this trap myself. -
Way to go!

I'm sure you know the everyone is different! However, I never really had much pain as I did soreness. I use to get stiff ( still not as much now) if I lay or seat in the same position too long. When I was in the recovery at the hospital my pain was a 6 and it was down hill from then. When I was d/c my pain was like a 4 and by day 4 or 5 was I two and now 0. I am 10 days out and make over 10,000 steps twice this week and avg. about 6,000 the other days. I do everything lift, dance, walk, sometime forgetting I just had surgery. Give yourself time and do as much as you can. listen to your body but I believe the more you move the less you feel and the faster you heal!!! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I was the same way and my nutritionist recommend triple 0 yogurt it has 15 gm of protein and fairlife milk 13 gm protein. Mix them together in my blender bottle and then pour it in 9 of my 2oz cups and drink for the next 2 hours (I do this twice a day minimum and that yield 56 gm(s) of protein then I drink 4oz of milk to get to the 60 minimum). I struggled with the shakes and have about 6 brands in powder forms and the vitamins are just horrible. maybe you try that and see if that helps. She gave me another brand of yogurt but I forgot the name so for now I just use the triple 0 ( she recommended that as well). They have many flavors so you can change up the taste so you don't get tired of it. Let me know.

MISERABLE! Please tell me it gets better

I'm sorry you're feeling this way right now, but it will pass ( I had something similar happened to me and if you see me now you'll be amazed). Just focus on the reasons why you did the surgery and rest up. By next week you'll be singing another tune and dancing all over the place!!! -
Why popcorn? why not some crispy /crunchy fresh fruit, veggies or some other healthy snacks like soaked almond? problem is not so much the popcorn but what it may lead as well as getting stuck. It ignite the taste buds send you down a slippery slop! think health and healthy and why you wanted this weight loss surgery. Talk with your nutritionist.

I believe you need to take a step back and assess what has happened over the years that has lead to NOW! There is hope so don't be discourages. your off to a good start with going to the gym. My suggestions are to meet with a therapist to help you deal with any emotional issues, a nutritionist to assess your diet and attitude towards food, and your surgeon ( you could talk about other options like switching to RNY or high protein diet to loss the pounds). But most all remember surgery is just a TOOL the rest is up to us and how we use it. Just assess your reasons for weight loss was it for health reasons or vanity? because the answer matters in what we do later! I have high hopes for you! You can do this just have this. For me it was 85% health reasons and 15% vanity. Because I look very good for my weight and height most people don't believe I weight as much as I do because I carry it well...but I know the doctors report and I was pre-a lot of things! So, that was my main reason. What is it for you? That hold the key to your success. -
I feel the same way except for the eating. I'm 6 days out on full liquids and I have grown tired of the shakes and decided that today is a day for broth and water only ( I will have two 8 oz shake later ). I am craving cheese curls...What? I had a total melt down this morning. Took a nap on my side twice today it felt wonderful and I left to house for on hour and that felt great!!

Thank you all for the well wishes and wish you all the wellness and happiness! -
Hi Nmelo723, I think you should open up or share with others as you see fit to help you make the right choice for yourself. We all have fallen short at times by our own doing. For me it's not smoking but it may be my favorite food. I am "suppose" to be on my liquid diet days in 4, yet still I cheated two day in a row. Today being the worst and not only because I felt hungry but because I went out with my friends and wanted to fit in without being ask too many question- plus it make it easy for me convince myself it was ok to eat whatever food I was cravings at the time. Sometimes if we are not careful we sabotage our dreams/plans. Best of luck to you...you will do well just stick with it ( don't beat yourself up anymore)...as I will. I would love to hear how the surgery go. Take care now!

If your doctor to a nicotine test it may likely show since it's fresh in your body. Just remember you are doing this for you and remind yourself of the reason(s) when it get rough...Honesty is key and we owe that to ourselves (I quit 3 weeks ago but today I gAve in; and in your latter post you wrote: not to mention it's the first time in months I smoked). which is it 3 weeks or months? you don't have to answer because I just want you to think about what you said. If I were you I would ask for help with quitting (patch, pills, support group...whatever) since it's so close to your surgery. Best wishes with everything!

Hi All: Sophie74656, It is very important to read before you add your two cent (or the lack there of)! Too many people on here commented without reading the post properly and many of you were basis in your response. Just the mere fact that the mother reach out to this site showed here support, commitment and love for her dtr. I am going to have mine in 18 days and I am still questioning my decision, while the ones I love the most are telling me to do it. I am glad to hear mommy and dtr doing well blessings to you all speedy recovery and cheers to a new life style changes, health, wellness, memories (good and bad), prosperity, live, love and laugh...A lot of you failed to acknowledged that though WLS is a very good tool after a few years most people revert back to old habits especially people who do GVS. So, it is imperative that people start change their habits sooner rather later ( before WLS not thinking it is the magic bullet) especially, emotional and psychological issues because that's the real catalyst not FOOD!!! Many of you pass judgement on the mother by projecting your own stuff onto the mom. Stating your opinion is one thing by judging and pointing figure is another, respect and compassion people; that's why we are here on this site. I am sure most of you know that people don't have to eat junk to be overweight or obese; simply overeating all the time and inactivity will cause you to pack on the pounds. So, when people reach out read the post reread then add your two cent... I lurked on this site for about 4 months before singing up and I notice that on many of the thread on here people reply without thoroughly read the content just by there response alone. Which lead to a lot of repeating oneself!
