I am not ready for solids yet, but am thinking about an Air Fryer for when I am. Can you tell me if they are worth the investment? Would you recommend it? If so is there a better one than not? Thanks---------

I appreciate your response. I know postings probably aren't meant for this, but in reducing calories I was looking for an appliance that would help me with this, when I am cooking again. I think I will buy one! Thanks again----------

OK, but am curious by peoples thoughts who actually use one.

I am expecting to be flogged by someone for saying this. I have 2 days until I am going to be on the other side, and have been on a 2 week pre-op diet,,,of sorts. I had veggies as allowed to do, but found my self overeating them at times. No fast food, nothing like that at all although it has been very hard not to. Tomorrow is my last day to have anything to eat and Sunday is all liquid,,, period and I will abide 100%. I am scared of not being a good candidate when the Dr. looks inside there and closing me up. Tonight, Friday I had some popcorn and am feeling extremely remorseful. I just caved somewhat. I have done the water thing, drank all my protein shakes and ate SF Jello. Realizing the first thing that comes to mind is can I go into this journey and be successful? Am I really ready, I think I am,,,Now that I have this off of my mind I want to know if anyone else has cheated on the pre-op diet, and if so, did you ruin your surgery because you weren't exactly 100%. Thanks--------

Thank you!!!!! I will be sleeved in a few hours and am looking so forward to the coming new life.

All liquid diet today, surgery tomorrow. No problems with it at all, everything is good and I am anxious to start this new journey!

What do you use in place of eating for fun/stress/boredom?

I plan on doing school work, walking and being spontaneous. No wife, no stress, no worries. Just enjoying my new journey! -
Did anyone do anything crazy being wheeled into the OR?
RSM replied to Véronique's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well one thing is for sure, I won't have that side effect! lol -
I have been working with my endocrinologist for a year now, and have finally received a surgery date of Sept. 19, 17. Starting my 2 week pre-op soon and would like to know if anyone out there would like to be a buddy while going through the pre-op thru surgery to post-op. I have a bit of good support and think I need to communicate with someone who actually knows what I am going thru. Not that it matters but I am a male, 61 yrs and live in Kansas. 275#, 5'9", BMI 40. I am going to lose minimum 75# as I am broad shouldered and don't want to get to skinny, just healthy enough to get off of meds for diabetes 2, high blood pressure, some bi-polar issues if this is possible and sleep apnea.

Question about protein shakes
RSM replied to sarajane80's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any fruity drink by Nectar is wonderful. I threw away my Premier Choc Powder, taste like crap. -
I use TriCare through the Veterans Administration (VA), but I think in my case the VA is paying for my sleeve directly.

I am on my 3rd day of the liquid pre-op diet. I really need a good tasting protein shake powder, at least 30g protein. I have Chocolate Premier Protein from Sam's Club and I have to hold my nose to drink it. The aftertaste is absolutely is disgusting. I don't know why they call it chocolate as it is really shi*. Any suggestions so I can get through this 2 week period? I am trying to think out of the box but am new to this journey. Thanks---
-
Well, it's not that intense.
-
Is it cost effective compared to powder? Thanks------
-
where do you get the app for the weight loss gadget?
-
Thanks, I will try that
-
To be honest with you, the 2 week pre-op liquid is kind of like a bowel cleanse. lol
-
Thanks, but the powder I have is whey.
-
My pre-op diet is liquids (at least 90 grams protein) of course and 2 cups veggies or fruits. Oh, and all the SF Jello I can stomach.
-
I don't know how much you weigh, but I weigh 280#. My point is, I intend to lose minimum 90#. That will be like getting a 90# backpack off of me relieving stress on a back I have had 2 surgery's on. I wish you much luck!!!!!

Need to find inexpensive bariatric vitamins. HELP!
RSM replied to laydeemelodee's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Surgeons all say different things it seems. There is no real gold standard. I think a lot of it depends on your weight, blood profile, vitamin deficiency's, etc. We are all different. It probably would not hurt to have a complete blood panel done and go from there. My surgeon told me the other day to take 2 Flintstone chewables a day. That's it. I also take Vit D3, Iron and B12 supplements. -
I am seriously thinking about switching from sleeve (which is scheduled for Sept. 18th) to a bypass. Any reasons why I should or should not? I KNOW it is an individual decision, I would just like some experienced feedback. -Thanks-
-
She listed the complications with the bypass. The sleeve sounds like it will be as successful as I make it to be. Being used as a tool, my life has to be re-arraigned. I feel 100% now with the sleeve.

Need to find inexpensive bariatric vitamins. HELP!
RSM replied to laydeemelodee's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
What? My surgeon said as long as I take 2 Flintstones chewable vitamins she was good with that. Of course I take B-12, Iron and D3 supplements. OTC and not that expensive. I might be wrong, but it sounds like they sell it in their office and make mucho $$ profit off of you. Ridiculous -
Hi, surgery scheduled for 9/18. In 3 days the the pre-op liquid diet fun begins,,,ugh!
